What did we take away from the Leicester game?

We just have to accept some sides this season have just been better than SUFC, these include Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Leicester.

There is absolutely no disgrace in this. It is our first season back and considering the huge differential in budgets, facilities and squads it isn't really surprising. What we have shown is that we are good enough against 70% of the premier league sides, taking it to the next level is the biggest challenge as a club we will face. It can be done as Leicester have proven.

CWAK will learn more from our defeats this season than the victories. Where we need to strengthen, what level of player we need to compete and who is good enough.

I'm sorry but with the injuries and suspension Leicester had yesterday, along with their poor form, there is no way they should be that much better than us. It was a piss poor performance in a very winnable match.

There is absolutely no disgrace in losing to any good team, provided you put in the maximum effort and get the basics right.

Both of those things were lacking last night, which is why Wilder, and most of us were so annoyed.

Lessons will be learned though, for sure.

I said it before the game (I'm not often right so I'm playing on it) - They were going to be desperate. This game was their whole season and if we didn't match that level of desperation we were in trouble. We never even got close to the levels of commitment, concentration and organisation we had against Chelsea. And we gave the ball away far too many times, often when we weren't under pressure.

I thought we'd lose a close game (Vardy, Ndidi, Tielmans, Barnes would all have a better than good argument to be our best player if we had them). I got half of the prediction right

Maybe I'm just searching for a positive spin or an excuse but all top 6 teams have put in some sub par performances and last games to lower teams. I would wager their fans to be complaining just as much as we are. I think the main gripe is knowing that was just a completely half arsed performance from United and considering the performances we have knocked out recently it came as a bit of a shock.

For me it's a sign things are heading in the right direction when we play a top 6 team, lose, and we're asking questions as to why we didn't win.

Totally agree. Yes we were off it last night, but let’s remember how according to the pundits, all the ’top teams’ seem to have an off day, particularly when they play The Blades’ . However, some of the moaners should take a step back and think that looking ahead to take 9 points from games against Spurs, Wolves, Chelsea and Leicester, they would have snatched it with both hands. Yes, it would be nice to think we can win every game, but we need to look at how far we’ve come and who really expected us to achieve what we have this season.

This. There’s a bit of overthinking going on here. The team looked physically and mentally knackered. And the opposition are a significantly better side to begin with.

Maybe we should give Brendan Rodgers some credit for setting up his team in a way that nullified our tactics. We couldn't get hold of the ball. As the game wore on it seemed that we ran out of ideas and were banging up long balls to McBurnie.

Like I said to the closet who pretends he’s an administration thieves fan. Where did they finish in their first season in the premier league? Stopped up by the skin of their teeth. How he’s the cheek to come on here with his patronising tone is beyond belief. So baring that in mind, we have a solid base to build on. Over to the board to back CWAK.

Completely agree. And that is why Wilder is seething.

As Wilder kept saying during the week, 'we had 3 big games left including a massive one against Leicester'. He is clearly completely at a loss as to how the players could produce a turd of a non-performance like last night's, given the circumstances.

As the gaffer often mentions, he is a 'here and now manager'. He is not interested in the past; only the present.

Leicester looked a good team before Christmas, especially in the purple patch when they looked like keeping pace with the top 2. That was the past, though. At Christmas they simply laid down at home to Liverpool, and since that hammering, they've been pretty ordinary to say the least, hence how Man U have reeled them in.

The 'here and now', therefore, as Wilder will have recognised, is that Leicester are currently a pretty ordinary side who, given their insipid performances against Liverpool, Man City and in limp cup exits to Chelsea and Aston Villa (with a cup final there for the taking, for crying out loud), are not especially strong mentally. Notwithstanding our gifting of the points yesterday, the likelihood is that they'll beat neither Spurs nor Man U, and will finish 5th. That game was there for the winning.

Personally, I really didn't foresee that our team - and it was the whole team - simply wouldn't turn up, and clearly the manager didn't. Especially on the back of the recent performances. It's as if the team had gained nothing whatsoever from hammering Chelsea when, surely, they should have been absolutely flying.
