I think we get Chezzie in the Final, so last game at home we need to put out eleven 18 year old animals.

The carnage, mayhem and inhumanity they dish out will go down in human history alongside Pol Pot et al

Blades field a full strength side at Wembley Vs Chezzies under 15s, we win by the odd goal

Can't see anything other than disappointment and another year in L1....Clough will stay, make changes in the summer but a slow start again will see him gone by October......MEH

As any financial advisor will tell you, past performance is not an indicator of future returns. So our lack of playoff success cannot affect our potential future playoff success.

Nothing that has happened in the past can have a bearing on the future, unless you tie our play off record in to chaos theory. Maybe the Blades are a fractal....?

Think we'll end out PO final hoodoo breathing Franchise MK in the final . Fast forward 12months, we'll have an outside chance of getting in the Champ Play offs.., Cheers!!!

Beat Swindon over 2 legs by playing our usual "cup football". Win the Final v MKD ( 3rd in the league syndrome) after extra-time following at least two bad refereeing decisions in our favour this time, own goal by McFadzean ( he's a Blade) with the last kick of the game in only our second attack in the whole 30 minutes extra time. The law of averages worked at long last. I couldn't face the trip and missed my first big game since the early 60's but thoroughly enjoyed it on TV. Just watching it all over again now.

Next summer the Board give £5m to spend and he shows he has learned some lessons after 15 years in management. We continue to play poorly and face a relegation fight come December. Board stick with Clough and we find some form after Maguire returns on a half-season loan after failing at Hull in the Championship.

We win the play-off's.
It really is that simple and it's got to happen sometime...

Hmmmm...........

this is how the conversation went with my youngest before Huddersfield.

Him: are you going this time?
Me: I said I wasn't going after Burnley.
Him: Well, we have to win one sometime, and you don't want to miss it - do you?
Me: This is true Son, you've talked me into it.
Him: Great - can you buy my ticket !

Summary: Very clever and calculating little so and so............but he is so right, I love him to bits and i'll say and do EXACTLY the same if we get there this time. :)

Try not to think of Palace , Wolves , Burnley , Huddersfield , although some of the days were a great day out , but full of frustration and disappointment . Although i do have a gut feeling we will do it this time , and a boat load of optimism . It will be little bobby first visit to Wembley who is 3yrs old , and lets hope it is a day , for all us to remember in the memory bank . However one game at a time , to not tempt fate .

They will be so many changes at BDTBL is we fail or succeed , if we do fail , it has been a wasted opportunity IMO , and a frustrating season , as promotion is be all and end all , never mind the building blocks . We have the foundations , lets start with the structure in the championship.

Keep the faith Fulwood and UTB

Jesus Kenny.

Here's what I'm thinking.
Shall I call Kenny a cunt and get myself a ban just to avoid these endless "jokes" or shall I provoke him into calling me one and getting him a ban for the benefit of all. Tough call.
Sounds like we need a poll ;)

It was another great day out till the match...think I was more peed off after Burnley.
They're was a lot of 'gallows humour' at the Udder's game...

I just wanted to see how the majority of members see the season panning out? What's your honest prediction for the next 4-6 weeks ? And then on from there for the next 12 months ?

Just trying to get an idea as to how most see things going.

Lose in the play offs.

Clough gets poached by Real Betis, we get Ronnie Moore.

Keep the faith? - listen/read some on here and you'd be committing suicide :(

fortunately my glass is the half full variety, so just need a certain NC to do the business, as they say :)

Yep the Burnley game peed me off big time.
On a personal note I delayed my holiday by 2 days, had to fly the wife down to France, paid for someone to get her from the airport and then had to drive 7 hours on my own to get there. That 7 hours, 500 mile journey was the worst journey I have ever had to endure. It normally takes me 1 day to recover after a normal defeat - I never did get over the defeat all week, despite plenty of Stella, 1664 and bucket loads of red wine!

Argh, the Blades do make life difficult for us all.

Anyway, we move on and hopefully this is OUR time.

My prediction ........
Crawl under the fence into the play-offs and make it to the final despite two slightly dodgy performances.
Despite the usual large and enthusiastic support at Wembley ( again ) we continue our well practiced ability to underperform in play-offs and break the hearts of our long-suffering supporters with a predictably poor and gutless display, embarrassing us ( again ) on National tv.
Another close season of promises, suggestions, dithering and asserting that we DO NOT need to sell our best players ..........
Followed by YET ANOTHER frustrating season in this fucking horrible agricultural Division plotting our way out of it with the shortest squad in living memory ...

I just hope that we can find one large enough to cover up all our previous cock-ups ;)

I'm with you here, not many changes to make, let a few fringe players go, bring in Holt and Davis on permanent deals, buy two big, 'ard centre backs. Win league next year

All of the above.

This season has been shite and we have stumbled into the Play Off places.

If we do end up in the Play Offs it will be a case of which United turn up, if the Oldham, Crewe, Fleetwood etc United turn up we will get turned over in the 1st leg. If the Scunny, Barnsley, Donny, Spurs, QPR team turn up I can see the PO hoodoo ending.

Next season, the squad needs trimming down as 24+ is far too many for an FL team to carry and some bigger lads bringing in!

I agree.
Clough seemed to go against his quality over quantity statement this season. I don't know who you're thinking of getting shut of but I wonder how long some of the fringe players contracts are?

We win the play-off's.

The Problem of Induction. Isn't it actually pretty difficult to put together a logical argument that the sun will come up in the morning no matter how many times it's come up before.

We could be losing play-offs ad infinitum, or at least till aforementioned sun devours the planet in a raging inferno of Red Giant plasma in 4 or 5 billion years time.

A cheery thought.

Thinking about it, it'll probably evaporate the ball as it crosses the line for what turns out to be our disallowed last minute winner in the year 5 172 821 344.

As things stand we're likely to finish 5th and face Swindon (who btw have lost a couple recently). Having witnessed the horrific Utd performance down there earlier this season (including seeing Phil King’s inane grin at both half and full time) I think the away leg will be the toughest of the 3 post season games (even if we get to the final). Swindon can play quickly through midfield or down the wings with very quick wingbacks and decent finishers and are willing & able to mix it if necessary. If we do somehow get past them I'd be (quietly) confident of success at Wembley but I'm afraid I think our vulnerability from balls into the box (inc. set pieces) will be our downfall and we'll lose the 2 legs by 1 or 2 goals.
If that does happen I'd prefer a fresh start as I'm not convinced NC would get us up automatically next season either given the brand of football his teams play with always give the other side a chance (even if they are technically worse). Worst case would be for NC to stay, be given more budget which he blows on yet more ex-Derby players, we get off to another slow start and he is relieved of his duties part way through the season, with someone else coming in and the likelihood of yet another season being blown.

For some crazy reason, I have had the feeling that as long as we stay in the play offs, we can win the final. Yes I know that sounds crazy with our history, our diminutive players, our leaky defence and Howard sometimes reacting with the speed of the QE2 making a leisurely left turn!

Yet....I don't know, maybe it is just me, but maybe things are coming together at the right time?

Matty Done, faster than a speeding bullet and with an eye for goal.

Big Steven Davies - no nonsense bruiser up front, with more pace and skill than most give him credit for, holding the ball up and scoring as well.

Jamie Murphy - our best footballer, not because he is the most naturally gifted, but because he runs his socks off.

Jose Baxter - the "marmite man" of the team, yet if he makes that one maverick pass that splits open a defence at Wembley for Done to run onto?

Jason Holt - at times appears to be Scougall's smaller, weedier cousin, but his goals return in the last 5 or 6 games tells a different story.

Basham and Brayford - both like to run forward, if we have Bash in the centre of the park, those runs take him into the box, not the half way line.

Harris, Freeman, Scougall, McEveley, Doyle, Coutts, Reed, McNulty, none of them bad players, maybe error prone and inconsistent at times,

Clough - he DOES have the eye for the big game, the cup runs over the last two seasons have not been a fluke and we have beaten some big teams convincingly. Only a very good Spurs team beat us in recent months.

As others have said, IF we have the same team, more or less, that beat Barnsley, we have a chance against anyone in the final.

Get behind Clough and the boys.

Some bloke once stated that "Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavour"

'Twas Truman Capote. He also said something that should be on a board in United's dressing room:

“By my own failures I will succeed” 'cos we've had enough practice...
