What are the chances of stewards checking our tickets this Saturday?

According to a piece of text on the official blades website, it says that "Visiting supporters are also asked to carry any required proof of concession with them as tickets will be subject to checks". Now I've been given a concession ticket because I'm 61, and at OT the concession barrier starts at age 65. So what I want to know, what would happen if they checked my ticket and it doesn't suit their category? Is there such thing as them telling me to do one, your not allowed? Or what?

Do they generally say this to cover themselves?

Yes, no doubt the Mensa brigade will be out in force on Saturday. All that way and £37 a ticket to be searched by someone with the intelligence of an amoeba.

Will just add.

They have sniffer-dogs too. Yes, ad super-intelligent ones too.

From drugs to flares, fireworks to old 78s of Harry Lauder.
From experience, they don't just confiscate, they stop entry.

I'm in the same age bracket and I've never had any problems at league 1 games, but for this one I did chicken out and change it to a normal adult ticket. However, I would imagine they are just bluffing and will probably have more important security issues to worry about

Do the stewards at Old Trafford still (attempt to) force people to sit down? I remember there being a lot of publicity about it a couple of seasons ago, but I haven't read anything about it recently.

Unlikely they'll stop you, mainly its those with the young concession price tickets and student tickets. I've been given concessions before by our ticket office and then realised I wasn't 'old' enough - never been asked for ID anywhere. I would just subtract 4yrs off your DOB and keep repeating it before you go in - what proof of age do they expect older people to have with them;I never carry any documents to a match, especially away days

Driving licence? Passport?

Like has been said above it's unlikely that anyone will ask for proof but always the chance of a jobsworth steward not letting someone in for looking too young and not having ID as advised.

I doubt they'll check, they'll more than likely have their eyes on younger lads - which means I'll definitely get stopped, searched and my ID checked, as per

If in doubt wait until the steward is busy helping someone else and go in. Worked a dream for me when I found myself in the away end for England v Trinidad & Tobago in the 2006 World Cup

As others have said I would have thought they would be targeting people with juvenile tickets rather than with OAP.

I walked into Old Trafford once with a Junior Ticket. My mate was a Bolton fan and someone had given him two junior tickets in payment for a guitar lesson. We just walked upto the turnstile put ticket in the slot and walked in. Bolton won 2-1 that day!

Bit late now but was anyone challenged regarding their age on Saturday? My 65 year old mate was asked his age ( he does look younger) but when he said 65 they accepted that and let him in. I'm not a very good liar so as a junior senior Blade (62) I was a bit relieved that I'd bought a normal adult ticket.

I was in the Man Utd end bang underneath our fans, there were loads of stewards outside the turnstiles, I had to take my jacket off whilst they patted down my whole body. What they somehow managed to miss was the two cans of lager I had in my jacket from the train station which I'd forgot to get rid of, the jacket to which one of the stewards was holding :D Fucking useless and if i was that way inclined i could've got away with all sorts.

I got asked my DOB by a steward using an under 21 ticket (I am just). In all honesty I could have said 31st February 1967 and the steward wouldn't have batted an eyelid

Never been more glad to support to sheff utd than after Saturday before the match had even kick off. As I couldnt take that stress every week. although im appriache its all for our safety after Paris. But i think my ticket was checking about 3/4 times before id made it to my seat.

I wasnt asked my age, in the 60 - 65 thing anomaly

The Stewards were otherwise busy surviving the onslaught of the Merry Blades appearing through the Turnstyles

It appeared to be beings from another dimension, materialising from nowhere into the Hades section

One Steward seemed to be losing it, and screemed "Tickets Off" which stops Tickets being read and opening the Turnstyle for those outside

As things started to pile up inside, mainly due to Blades comming back down the steps to have a word

When the Tickets went "Back On" the next set of frustrated Blades appeared into the Hell, and off they went again

Got the fuck out of there quickly

I was in the Man Utd seats and most of their fans were being frisked as they went in but I think that it was terror related rather than ticket checks. They were also checking the underside of vehicles with mirrors - risky place Old Trafford!!

I bet everyone thought you were related to Chris Birchall!
