upon reflection a draw would have been a fair result.
maybe we edged it on points, but there was one moment of class.
we peppered their goal, quite a few from outside the area - at last some may say...
but then up steps a player that cost £10m, and is on £40k per week - probably around the same as our back 5 put together.
that was the difference tonight, a moment of expensive class.
should we accept this as collateral damage to our transfer/budget policy?
or should we realise that to really Excel we need to spend to get that?

i looked at their team tonight and thought fuck, they should bang us off the park - they didn't, but the 3points go to the club with the investment.
i think it's a bit like Chelsea and Arsenal.
arsene likes to pull out a bargain, and gets kudos from unearthing a gem - Henry, Viera etc. Whereas Chelsea buy the finished article, but who wins the trophies?

stick or twist?

I think Arsenal is a horrendous example to use for a club doing poorly because they don't spend enough. They have a tired old manager that can't motivate or get the best out of their players. Ozil was not exactly bought on the cheap from the lower leagues like our recruitment strategy.

We can twist like Wednesday, take the gamble, and then take the massive tumble again if we dont get promoted and take years to get players off the books and repaying the debts.

We arent Aston Villa - they have much deeper pockets than us and we need to keep spending in our means, just be grateful we are playing them and matching them toe for toe with our superb team and manager
