Start of the season we weren't great but we were comfortably in touch with the play off places.

Then we bring in the player that Adkins had been desperate to sign and have gone steadily backwards since.

If I was one of the established players and knew that this well past it excuse for a professional footballer had been brought in on twice my salary as the answer to all of our prayers I think I'd have been more than a little pissed off.

Then as Adkins tinkers with the team and formation the one constant who cannot be dropped is Hammond. I'm sure that can't help but undermine team spirit and respect for the manager.

Hammond had his best spell from Barnsley onwards, 5 games or so.
Now he is treading water, and looks like his legs have gone.

Adkins talks about athletisism, which Hammond hasn`t got.
When we were winning games, you could argue Hammond was having a positive influence, no defence now.

You can't really blame him individually, blame the lot of them, they were really poor again last night. Truly no attacking flair, in fact just nothing, the only highlight was the over priced Bovril at £2.20. Adkins needs to take a good look at himself, or better still look at Derby who want football to played in a fashion that is attractive.

Adkins has fallen into the classic trap, just like clough did, of falling back on players that he has known and trusted in the past.

An understandable reaction is to reach out to those who a manager respects and has built a good rapport with.

However, at some point players lose pace, lose hunger etc. He's been lucky with Billy, but got it badly wrong with Hammond.

He had a chance to swallowed his pride, admit his hubris and move Hammond on. He failed to take it. If Adkins gets another season, bet your house on Hammond signing s lucrative permanent deal.

Someone needs to have a word. But who? There are no football men left at the club. No one to provide the necessary checks & balances. Just an owner who refuses to open his cheque book to bring in any more crap.

Clough and Adkins between them have killed off the trust between manager and unknowledgeable board.

It's time for Adkins to put his hands up and say I've fucked up apart from Billy with the players I've brought in.
They're all liabilities.
