Yesterday's policing was ridiculous and way over the top. Long Qs to get in the ground because the stewards and the police insisted on searching everyone trying to get through FOUR turnstiles.
And then they seemed surprised with all our vocal frustration of Qing in the rain with the game about to kick off.
It's a long time since I have seen that amount of horses and coppers at a match.
And no sign of trouble (no doubt because of the police presence and so their tactics are justifiable).

Absolute knobhead of a steward on the way in too, saying everyone should have got there sooner

What exactly is "knobhead" about that?

Seems pretty sensible to me.

You choose to arrive just in time and there's big queues.

Qu'elle surprise
It was ten/fifteen minutes before kick off that I arrived.

Not the fan’s fault that Huddersfield have an inadequate number of turnstiles.

And how was saying this to fans meant to help? It only antagonised many further.

Inadequate amount of turnstiles and a criminal amount of pissers which was 6 inch deep ,how these grounds get safety certification I do not know .

It’s a shame about the facilities, because otherwise it’s become one of my very favourite grounds.

Can‘t think of a post-Taylor Report new build that comes close to it, aesthetically. Not just the shape of the stands, either. The roofing looks rizla-paper light and thin, the floodlight supports are soooo modernist, and the forest on the hill behind the west side stand sets the whole lot off beautifully.

Shit colour scheme for the seating, mind.

Got to say one of the worst away experiences I’ve had long queues for for food which was overpriced long queues for toilets which when you got in we’re overflowing so you had to stand in it how do they manage to justify all that won’t be rushing back

Maybe it's because our away fans have a bad reputation?

Trouble is we've some fans that treat everything like shit . 😟
It’s a bit of a vicious circle at times. For someone that grew up with police treating fans like shite because of previous behaviour in the 70, 80 and early 90’s we saw the reality of how police, clubs and fans intersected.

But over the years we’ve seen things improve (mostly) on all sides. However there are things that remain - all clubs have a few knobheads, most police treat fans like shite and the clubs will make things as difficult and awkward as possible for away fans.

Away fans on a day out will always drink, it’s a ritual part of that day out.

However, just because we drink doesn’t make us all cnuts.

And clubs have zero excuse. They know in advance how many fans are coming as most away allocations are all ticket, for United at least. So they know fans will arrive late and they know we’ll have a drink and they know we want food and they know that we will need more than a few turnstiles for 2,3, 4 or 5000 fans.

Fans acting like knobheads should never be tolerated and neither should clubs that don’t prepare when they have the capability and capacity. And in turn the police need to do their job not be twats.

We’ve learnt over the years that when you mess with these three things that people act like cnuts back

There is a right way to say things ,he was just being a clever cunt, because he had about 10 stewards and copper behind him.
And if you are on a bus how can you 'chose' to arrive on time ?
We were on a minibus and had a police escort all the way to Meadowhall ,what the hell is the point of that ?
Found a tremendous boozer though ,The Calder in Brighouse. Spot on that place.

When will football clubs and police realise that just because you come from another town, it doesn’t mean that you Should be treated like shit.
There are too many football fans across the country behaving like morons. As usual, the majority are affected by the actions of a minority. I don't do away matches but have seen the comments on here about our own fans so what do fans expect.

Those toilets were a disgrace. And one way in and the same way out, eh?

There are a minority of idiots, but when you ask "what do fans expect" the simple answer is to be treated like normal everyday citizens rather than thugs. The vast majority of football fans going to away games are well behaved and this is how they should be treated.

Best one i had was down at MK dons when we got promoted from League one, chatting to a couple of coppers after the game and they mentioned that they were surprised at how well behaved our fans were despite a lot having sunk a few drinks.... I asked what they expected. His reply was along the lines of well the intelligence was that there were a lot of trouble causers in our fan base.

At the time i think i said, something like the above - a lot compared to other fanbases in League one but a minority within our fan base.

There are a number of clubs (Preston and Stoke) who try to engage with the Police and in turn the Police engage with the away fans, to my knowledge of travelling to these grounds the fans can mix and drink together with very little bother.

Segregation in grounds is fine, but i think nowadays most fans can drink together without battering the shit out of each other. And from what i've seen over the years the idiots seem intent on making idiots of themselves rather than fighting

The police at Preston and Peterboro (and Milton keynes SwissBlade ) ,treat football fans with respect ,result is they have very few issues and get respected back. South Yorkshire ,West Yorkshire and all the north east police forces treat fans like criminals and get much more trouble than anywhere else. It works both ways. The facilities didnt help on Saturday ,only 2 turnstiles for a sold out away end in shitty weather ,plus awful toilets and catering was disgraceful. Didnt see any trouble all day btw just very bad organisation.

I arrived by train at about 11.06. I wasn't too surprised by the numbers of police outside the station and it wasn't dissimilar to the numbers of police at Barnsley but unlike Barnsley they weren't lining the route all the way to the stadium. I arrived at the stadium at about 11.30 thinking I could have a drink and get out of the rain. There was no queue at the turnstiles and I got my drink but had to stand in the rain as all facilities were out in the open - unbelievable for a fairly modern stadium.

I noticed there were about 3 coaches in the car park when I arrived but as I left there appeared to be about 10. I assume the coaches drop their passengers where they were parked and with the number of turnstiles it's not surprising that there was congestion at the turnstiles - especially if most of the coaches arrive in convoy. It's not the fault of the fans if most of the coaches arrive at the same time.

It seems to invite trouble if the away fans are housed in the same stand as the home 'ultras' - especially when the lower tier of the stand at the opposite end is unused. Like sitwell I wasn't aware of any trouble other than one idiot throwing a bottle when we nearly scored in the second half.

To be fair SYP treat home and away fans like cunts at the lane usually.
