Sheffield United assistant boss Stuart McCall is a target for West Brom.

West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace is set to approach the Blades for permission to speak with the Scot about succeeding Bryan Robson as Hawthorns manager. Peace has refused to go 'round the back door' to speak to the candidates, but the snag is some on his short-list may not risk their jobs just to be interviewed.

I find this strange that they would go for an unproven manager to be honest.

Yeh but you could see McCall jumping ship before Xmas unless we start picking up points. That will leave us in the shit.

Then again we could sack Warnock, and get Curbs in.

Kidd /Curbs partnership, looks good to me.

Do you honestly think he'd be in line for the job if Warnock went?

I like the guy but wouldn't want him as our next manager.

Let him go. He's in charge of coaching at the Lane, and judging the tripe we're getting served at the moment, I don't think we'd miss much. I'm not entirely sure why he has the reputation as a coach he has at the Lane. I'm not conviced we even practice set pieces at the moment, and that should surely be his department.

I dont want Macca to go but if he did then it would be a good chance for Kidd to take over more with coaching side of things.

Whilst I personally like Kidd,

I have only heard other negative things from people.

Like when he went to leeds they started operating on a more defensive way, and started dwindling down the league.

Very true.

But if we carry with the defence minded team we currently have I can't see us doing anything in this league.

Especially when Warnock thinks losing 3-0 to Arsenal as a good result and that his tactics was "spot on"

I think it would be a bad move letting Macca go, that said if he is offered a managers job we certainly couldn't stand in his way. He was inspirational as a plyer for us, just at a time when it could have all gone so very wrong. He is learning his trade, he may take training sessions but he doesnt pick the team or choose the tactics.

I would like to see Warnock move 'upstairs' 'down stairs' or anywhere really and Macca be given the chance.

My only worry would be that if Macca took over it would be more of the same. The thing is we have no idea what goes on in training, who has more input in to what, it's all just speculation. I just don't see how if our assistant manager became the actual manager there would be a much different approach.

I know one thing, since Macca took over as assistant from Bl@kwell we play a lot more attacking than we did. Which still isn't enough for a lot of people.
Hopefully I'd like to think if Macca did take over as manager it could be a turnaround like I see happening with the ENgland team ATM.

Tony Mowbray is their number 1 choice of manager but I doubt he will go to West Brom as hes just signed a new contract at Hibs.

I'll be gutted if McCall goes seems like a great coach to me and will probably become a good manager even though he used to play for Rangers :D
