Were you expecting more signings by now?

We are now 17 days into the transfer window and we have only signed 1 player up to press.
Did you expect,as i did, that there would probably be at least 3 or 4 signings by now?
I know Rome wasn't built in a day but i would have expected 3 or 4 in by now and after more departures between now and the end of the season,a few more in the summer.
There must be quite a few players not in the picture at their clubs who would sign on loan from the championship and maybe even the prem.
Look at the difference Dicko made at Rotherham and Bamford at MK Dons for example and 2 or 3 players like those 2 would make a big difference to us at present.
There are some good players knocking around in league 1 who would jump at the chance to come here i reckon and do a good job.
Are you a bit deflated at the lack of activity thus far?

No - Clough said 3 signings this window, mostly loans. Looks like the 2nd one will be on his way soon. We're on track with what was said, so they've hardly been disingenuous.

I'm guessing we've missed out on some targets...or they don't want to come...

Didn't expect so many out and only one in. Taylor, Cuvelier, Brandy are big calls by NC, certainly all three of them together. There must be a cunning plan.

Expecting? No. Hoping for? Yes. If we won't spend on some quality now when relegation to the bottom tier is a real possibility, we never will. It seems the search for serious, ambitious financial backing of the club goes on. Meanwhile, we continue to be less active in the transfer market than the likes of bloody Rotherham.

No, give the club the benefit of the doubt, two weeks to go yet.

Ooooohhh haven't we been here before?

At least we aren't a selling club any longer. We have nothing of note to sell so we have to loan out our shit now.

Does the loan window open straight after, if so I would expect more activity then, chances are if a semi decent player who we could actually attract will be looking for a move higher up the league than us, then he will sit it out to the end, realise no clubs wants him, then go on loan

I think the clue about the signings was an interview given by Clough before the window opened. He said that at the beginning of the month clubs wanted 100% wages to be paid for loans and by the end of the month that goes down to about 50%.

My concern is that people are saying wait to till the end of the month to see who we sign. That's fine but we need to beat Bradford tomorrow and Peterborough in our next 2 league game. These games weren't cancelled or anything whilst we wait to make these signings, yet our squad is weaker for it and we need to win games pronto. we Have 3 games in 10 days and I really wish we weren't in the cup as it may become a distraction now. Imagine how tired Murphy will look in training by the time we play Peterborough.

Clough is roughly using 12/13 players of his squad and we could do with that increasing before the 31st January

Well I was under the impression NC has been planning to bring in much needed additions almost since his arrival. I am therefore at a loss to understand why on 17 th January we've just got one loanee in? Surely most of the negotiations could have been done in Nov and Dec couldn't they or am I missing something?

As I said before, there were twelve points available in January and we've dropped six of them already. It seems to me as though it wasn't until the new calendar went up, that Utd realised January would come straight after December again this year !

I expected more out than in, that seems to be correct at this moment in time.

I think we'll see a couple more in, a defender and a forward

NO. It makes sense to make your signings as early as possible and bed them down in the team ready for the mad rush of fixtures coming up. That's why we will be hanging around the fax machine just before deadline selling Maguire and desperately trying to get Nyron in as a replacement.

Never expect, leads to less disappointment :)

:);)

Have faith, NC knows what he is doing.
Ye slowly dissecting the shit Wier left us in and with!! As for signings Beattie was our last big signing so I didn't really expect us to do in a month what we haven't done for 3 nearly 4 seasons an sign 1 if not a few decent players.

Well i thought we would have had more than 1 in by now anyway and there's still a few more to go yet!

Alan Biggs tweeted that Clough has been frustrated with his targets but should have someone in next week. We've heard that before though
