During the game vs Ashton United, on March 4th, Connor went down in significant pain in his knee after getting his studs caught in the ground. In the following days, an MRI scan confirmed an ACL rupture, and strains to the medial and lateral ligaments. Due to the severity of the injury, and the role that the ligaments perform in keeping the knee stable, Connor is required surgery to reconstruct the ACL. This is a lengthy injury, and Connor is looking at 10-12 months of rehabilitation post-surgery.

Due to the waiting times on the NHS, the financial implications that loss of earnings will have, and also to support the longevity of Connor's career as a serious injury which can significantly disrupt careers having the surgery done privately, as soon as possible is a priority. The PFA will cover some of Connor's surgery costs but the rest will need to be found as soon as possible, so the operation can take place at the earliest available date.

Connor is a family man who along with his partner welcomed their second child into the world so this injury could not have come at a more difficult time.

We understand that right now times are difficult but if you can help by chipping in anything you can afford, no matter how small, it would help Connor through an incredibly tough period in his life.

Connor is a Chesterfield lad who speaks incredibly highly of his time with the Blades and the time that he spent with you guys, to see this happen to him is truly heartbreaking especially as he had just become a dad again and is now unable to work.

We've seen the football family do incredible things for one another and we have faith that they will pull through for Connor in his time of need.

Thank you for your time in reading this,

Why aren't your players insured for personal injury and loss or earnings? 🤔

Why aren't your players insured for personal injury and loss or earnings? 🤔
I have previously insured a number of Southern Premier League teams and they all have to have personal accident cover as a league requirement, so they will have some sort of cover. Unfortunately the cover is pretty poor - we're talking £000's in benefit. If they opted for higher cover he might be lucky to get £20k but insurance is expensive and these teams are poor so at a guess he'll probably get £5k..

Players should be advised to take their own insurance out to top up their earnings should an injury occur.

22% of the way there from over fifty different donators from all over the UK and the world.

Continuously blown away by your kindness, compassion and generosity to help Connor get his operation 💙

Lots of support from the Spireites fans! - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/funddimaiooperation

We've got a forum poster who went out of his way to do a sponsored walk a couple of years for charity, it might be worth asking him if he fancies doing another.

I noticed Billy Sharp retweeted the appeal, hopefully him and a few other footballers that see the tweet will have stuck a few quid in to help the lad out.

We hit the target for Connor who will now be able to have his ACL reconstructed and that's down to the tremendous support from so many different folks and fan bases, including yourselves who when the call for help was put out, the football family did not disappoint.

Thank you so much to every Blades fan who donated or shared the link, we couldn't have done this without you guys!

Hi Stegosaurus here,

Let's be honest. 6k is pocket change for players. Sharp probably has that stuck behind his seatee

He could easily cover it himself without retweeting and expecting a bunch of blokes with the fraction of his earnings to do the heavy lifting. He wouldn't even notice it's gone.

Even if Sharp didn't want to cough up 6k himself, an appeal like this shouldn't go further than the locker room. If the squad all chipped in instead of just retweeting
