The goal today was well worked and very easy on the eye.
But at what cost?
We have players who want to entertain, which is great...to a point.
As a defender, I would prefer to play against our attack than that of other teams in this division, including today's opponents.
We are either too cautious, or trying to do more than we are capable of.
For every clever back heal that leads to a goal, there are numerous wayward, chancy flicks and risky passes that not only don't result in chances, but also give the opposition chance to break on us.
Maybe it's just me, but today, again, I found myself waiting for the inevitable loss of possession when we were attacking, and then sh*tting myself the moment WBA went on the attack.
We seem to have delusions of grandeur which is resulting in frustration and increased blood pressure, not to say a usage of words I would prefer not to say.
Ahmehodzic is about the only one who looks to drive us forward before the oppo has chance to reset so they can watch us try and football our way to the perfect goal, which rarely happens.
Brooks was tremendous today, showing much more of the player he started the season as. Why? because he terrorises defenders when he runs at them, and not away from them.
I don't know if it's a confidence thing, or a coaching thing, but it's so annoying to watch the 'patient build up play' result in very litle.
Shots on target today. 2 to us, 6 to WBA. Says it all really.

Agree with all this my thoughts exactly and losing the spine Souter and Souza magnifies our limitations and ordinariness more so
Most to do with coaching IMO

Totally agree, over play it for the sake of over playing it and slow the game down to a snails pace regardless if there's a break or an overload on.
Burrows again coming back inside when he is already half a yard ahead of his defender and plays it backwards .......

My patience with Hamer is wearing very thin. He's been shite for months, if he's not scoring he's a waste of space, not to mention a disciplinary liability

He needs a boot up the arse. If we get Brereton then it's him I'd be dropping

For what he'll be paid and what we'd expect at this level, he's falling a long way short

OHare played quite well today but is so clearly limited. If ANY of West Brom's attacking players were clear in that position on the right hand side (2nd half), they get away from the defender and stick it in the net

Brooks was a refreshing change and easily motm. Fuck knows why Wilder has been ignoring him so much. Are we supposed to pretend he loses the ball more than Hamer? Or is miles behind an out of form JRS?

After January, I want to see AT LEAST half of our front 4 replaced. We badly need Campbell back as well

Yet it has us top of the league despite having a much weaker squad than even teams like WBA. I'll put up with it ta.

It’s the unspoken truth; Hamer has been incredibly poor of late and gets away with it. He’s one of the senior players and should be leading by example, yet has gone missing for the last 2 games when desperately needed.

Brooks was excellent second half goal apart in the first half he constantly lost the ball was weak in physical battles and took the safe route other than one occasion getting to the byline
Second half he was the standout someone must have told him to have a go and be more direct

Well said. watching the Blades is frankly boring atm. Brooks excited you today looking at it, deserved that 2nd goal.

Why yawn 🥱?

Genuinely interested
'Shite for months' the statement is ridiculous - obviously all about opinions - but for me Hamer/Souzza/Souttar/Cooper/ Gilchrist/ Burrows/Robinson/Anel/Peck/Davies all done well in first half of the season, and the reason we are doing so BRILLIANTLY.

Today I thought The Blades played really well today and if to be slightly critical-Moore/Davies and Brew didn't have a great game, but to slate Hamer =YAWN he's a great little player and first name on the sheet for me every game.

In the first half he was great. I know you were watching Carlisle U v Accrington S on Skyplus but you need to get your channels right!

Yep.......... it's all going horribly wrong.....if only we were more like WBA.

Not sure who you're agreeing with there but I certainly didn't say it was all going horribly wrong.
I did say it was frustrating to watch us try stuff we're not very good at, and that our forward play/chance creation is often very frustrating.
We've hardly looked streets ahead in many games have we?
Yes, we've ground out results, but that's more to do with our superb defending than our exhilarating attacking.
Only 2 of the top 7 have scored less than us. Even the pigs in 11th and Norwich in 12th have scored as many/more than us before today.
Can we maybe keep it on track and discuss our limited forward play please?

Hamer is frustrating at times but is far from shite

You want even more formulaic and regimented attacking than we already have?

I find your assessment of Hamer amazing.

As some others on here have mentioned he was poor today, His distribution was not good enough. Simple passes that were not even reaching their target.

There were others sat near me who all seem to have the same opinion.

Personally I believe he's not playing in his most effective position but as a senior player he should be showing a great deal more leadership through his own performances.

In addition he always looks as though he's not far from a yellow card.

Brooks was good today. Him and Seriki are the answer on that right hand side. They understand that at some stage the ball has to go forward nd not side to side or backwards.

I think some people just can't watch passing football without getting frustrated. I've seen them watch Man City at their best and they find it annoying, yelling "shoot" constantly and baffled why they aren't crossing it.

Part of the reason we are excellent defensively is that we don't chuck as many players forward as others. Teams like Middlesbrough and Norwich might score plenty of goals, but they also concede loads due to how they attack.

You want even more formulaic and regimented attacking than we already have?
Nope, I want us to turn defence into attack quicker.
I want Brooks to go at defenders more often like he did today.
I want Ahmedhodzic to drive forward from defence and put them on the back foot before they get chance to reset.
I want to see others sprint into space to give options to those running forward with the ball.
As I said, we don't have the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, to be able to do what we seem to be trying to do.
It's not effective enough and doesn't get us enough goals or results...the defence does that for us.

Frustrating but Wilders tactics are ball retention and probing for that chance that may or may not come. Without Campbell we don’t have a poacher.

O’Hare’s Poor touch on that through ball cost us a great chance but we’ve seen that plenty of times before. Unless the ball is coming to him in the air from defence and giving him a bit of time to think, Moore doesn’t look like he can read the game. Sadly Brewster had some horrendous moments but at least l’ve seen the term ‘open goal” expanded to mean nothing of the sort.

Barcelona played simple, one touch passing with direct running except for Messi. You're describing Harlem Globetrotter stuff.

United are a very predictable, formulaic attacking team by design

All about opinions BB - I thought Hamer was fine today as was the whole team, off it were Moore/Davies and Brew but the rest got a good point off a good side.

I'm not happy with any player getting silly yellow cards and that is his achilles heel, but still on the team sheet first for me are Cooper/ Hamer/ Souza/Burrows of the players still fit (ish).

He has struggled because the way we have set up I believe, the way we set up absolutely stifles him his game is to have a run and have a shot but he doesn't seem to be doing much of that at the minute when we are pinned back in our own half.
