We're actually below where we should be

All ifs and buts. After the Boro game the one that stands out to me was of our own doing. Forest had barely had a kick and we were totally dominant and 1-0 up. They're confidence was fragile but Flecks uncharacteristic mistake gave them a real boost. No complaints though. We wont win them all but we bloody scared them to death.

Poor piggies all teams lose goals through ref decisions. The Blades had 3 goals disallowed in the first two games of the season.

I know it's a tongue in cheek post but I don't buy into the commonplace talk of 'deserving' to win or lose games. It's a simple game of putting the ball in the net at one and keeping it out at the other.

Correct, can't see much point in "What if ..." threads. You win some, you lose some, that's the way it goes. What if breeds dissatisfaction and anxiety and we all know where that leads. It's an easy trap to fall into though

Wolves missed a pen, Ipswich hit the bar while Jam just watched, both at crucial points in the games.

On Saturday, Hull had a genuine pen denied when JOC handled, and Leon could easily have been sent off when he went in studs first already on a yellow - both of these when they were 1 up. Oh yes, Saiz hit the post at 1-1 at Bellend Road. These just off the top of my head.

So generally fortune does balance out. Interestingly, I’ve found that I always think we’ve been hard done by when I’m watching the game, but when I watch the replay in the cold, calmer light of day I also see the bits of good luck as well.

Overall, there is only one bit of fortune that we have had that really matters, the perfect storm that brought us the best manager that we’ve ever had.

Let the Magic Go On

Wolves pen was very soft but for 75 mins we outplayed them and Wolves were surprisingly poor.
Don’t think they had a single shot on target. Their only good spells were the 1st 10 mins of each half.

In the other games you’ve quoted moments that could have turned the game but it would have been really unlucky because on general play we’ve been the team pushing forward creating chances and deserved the wins.

Agree with your comments about bias whilst at the match. I often think we’ve totally dominated but whenever I look back at a reply the match was usually closer then I thought. Although we’ve still been the best team.

On Saturday I thought Hull were decent first half and a much better team than a really poor Reading side.
But Hull were mentally weak, when they conceded the equaliser their standard droppped and in the past 15 mins they fell apart.

All clubs can claim to be unlucky, us football fans forget when we have the rub of the green. Yes the Middlesbrough disallowed goal was wrong, but it wasn't a free kick and we had generally been outplayed. Hull should have had a penalty in the first half which could have made it 2-0. The main thing isn't what could have been but the fact that we are a very good team playing exceptionally good football.
