Right... had to eat my soup cold but I think I (and everyone who asked us to sort them) are sorted.

Staying down for the weekend. Absolutely no idea what time we're setting off on Saturday as Foxy dealt with that side. Hotel room booked in a pub three miles from Wembley. Train back for £21 at 20:40 on Sunday evening.

Now to get Monday booked off work.

What's the designated pub for the west side, anyone?

Which doesn't really tie up with us supposedly being in the East side before but drinking in the Green Man.

There and back Linz?

We're thinking of going on the train this time, didn't fancy another 2 hours sat in a car going nowhere.

I think so...

Megatrain down on Saturday (dunno what time yet)... booked through East Midlands trains back.

Well that's better than a lunchtime kick-off and allows the day to travel, could be worse. Hope the gear box doesn't go on the car on the M25 again.

I am fed up with the TV people making choices with no thought for travelling fans etc. Club's should stick-up for their fans and not kowtow to the F A and BT, ITV, Sky etc......

Rant over.

HH

Yeah, that's what I thought. Oh well, we'll work it out on the day I'm sure.

Somewhere in the dim and distance recesses though, I seem to remember something about the landlord of the Green Man requesting that he got United fans, regardless of end, the last time we were there.

The Green Man is definitely at the West side.

I was at the Brentford v Yeovil play off final last year (I'm from Glasgow and was in London for the weekend so bought a ticket just to go to a game before anyone asks lol) in the Brentford section (West) and went to the Green Man beforehand.

It wasn't even a case of 'mixed company'. There were no Yeovil fans at all that I saw. The place was chock a block with a cracking atmosphere.

If I'm lucky enough to get a ticket for this it'll be the Green Man for me.

Wembley was rotated 90 degrees when it was rebuilt

if it's west and east now, it must have been north and south before

UTB

I've booked Foxy and I a full English at the pub we're staying in.

Get the feeling we'll need it!

I had a look at some images on Google and that doesn't appear to have happened.

I read elsewhere it was in the original plans but didn't happen.

So, pub options for a family travelling down featuring both blades and city fans? I'm guessing somewhere central London and tube in before kick-off. Journey back could be heaven or hell!!!

Last time round we went via Newark. East Coast trains tonnes better than EMT, and we had some great banter with the Huddersfield lot, even on the way back. EC also very cheap if booked in advance (£36 anytime return with a railcard).

Really excited now!

I'm not sure I'd consider us having a "losing" and "winning" side at Wembley given we have been in both ends and lost on every occasion recently...

When you say recently, we've only won there once, on our first appearance in 1925, when the paint was barely dry and there were 100,000 flat caps on show. Since then, we have a 100% losing record and I doubt there was even segregation pre-war.

Of course in those days, you had to win a semi-final just to get there......

Aha! So eall need to wear flat caps then...

Yes we was but I thought we were on the West side at the old Wembley when we lost to Palace?

Doesn't really bother me either way, just going to enjoy the day out and occasion.

Which side were we on at the Millenium? This clearly has a bearing on whether we win or not.

Apparently we're going to be there at 8am on Saturday morning (as Foxy panicked).

So regardless of what happens in the match, I foresee a messy 36 hours in the big town.

He asked for us cos we are a bunch of pissheads, more money for him:D

I like a nice day drinking when going to an away match (particularly in London), but bleeding hell...

It's not ruining my weekend, 4pm on Sunday pffft. Rooms already booked for Covent Garden on the Saturday night. We are fucking enjoying this one and not bolloxing about getting their on a sunday

Yeah... he apparently thought dinnertime would be too late.

There's going to have to be some serious pacing going on.

The Green Man was a designated United pub in 2012:

  • Crock of Gold, 23 Bridge Road
  • Blue Check Café, 12 - 13 Empire Way
  • Premier Lodge, Bridge Road
  • Rim Zim, 1 Empire Way
  • The Parish, 120 Wembley Park Drive
  • First Class Sports Bar, 125 Wembley Park Drive
  • Piri Piri Sports Bar, 33 - 39 Bridge Road
  • Crystal (formerly Silverspoons), 1 Southway
  • Alisan & Metropolis, Engineers Way
It'll be somewhere central for me until 2ish then a final pint somewhere between the tube station and the ground. Wembley is a dive and the less time I spend there the better.
