Our much-criticized keeper didn't really do much wrong tonight. Made a couple of great saves and his distribution was excellent.

To be honest I'm not too bothered by the result. We played OK, and should have snatched it at the end. Dunno why the two Blackpool lads played, we could have used this game to try a couple of formations without them.

I think you have to play 7 of the players who played in the last league match, so i think it was right to play the blackpool players so that 2 more fresh faces can play at the weekend instead of the 4

Played ok? I'd get your telly checked. We were shit

Simmo maybe 7/10
Phillips 7/10

The rest 4 or 5. But I can't remember their names.

We played "OK", until you factor in we were playing the club placed 88'th in the football league. At home.

If this was a league game I'd be as disappointed as most other people. But it wasn't, it was the Mickey Mouse Cup FFS and we're better off out of it. Bradford were fired up for it, and played well, but all they have to look forward to this season is a trip to Wembley in the JPT. We used the game to try out a few non-first-teamers in Parrino and Tonne, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson had told the players to take it easy and use it as a runaround. Yes they opened us up twice in the first half but we put them under pressure for long periods and put some neat passing together. And as I said, Simmo looked more confident that I have seen him in a while.

I'm not trying to pretend everything is rosy, far from it. We are screwed for the Play Offs if Clarke and Phillips depart and we don't get any decent replacements. If a full strength team gets turned over by Oxford I'll be as worried as most other people. But I expect to see a different performance on Saturday. Get a sense of perspective. This was the Micky Mouse Cup. The pigs didn't give a shit about it (and they are more in need of the paint) why should we?

been dropped has done him good but has shown how bad our defence is

Maguires decision making and positioning at times is questionable and Collins does not fill anyone with confidence.

last night only simmo could comeo out of that game with any praise some good saves and couldn't do anymore with the pens.

DW has come out and rightly blasted the performance it is now up to the players to come out and show they are fit to wear the shirt.

Apologist bullshit ^^^^^^^^^

Inexcusable.

Im not bothered at all about this mickey mouse cup

but

Im not being paid to play in it

theres a subtle difference there
thats why some of those on the park last night deserve slaughtering
Simmo did fine though
only Phillips and Lowton looked bothered

I hate to disagree about Simmo's performance but to get only one penalty save from 9 this last week is a pretty poor return. His style of guessing which way to go before the shot is struck reduces the chance of saving it. If he would have waited to see which way the ball is going before making his attempt to save it he would have an increased chance of saving more.

In his other contribution to the game he was much improved.

The goalkeeping coach was telling him which way to dive, so he would have been going early to increase his chances of getting across the goal.

I watched on my own at the George in Kirkburton, nice pint of Jennings. The pub was quite full in the other two rooms but just me in the front room.

One person strayed over and said Are you a Blunt then? stayed for a while said 'This is xx shite' and went to play pool.

It reminded me of watching Cardiff V Utd at the Old Monk? on Norfolk St, the game we won one nil with Webber scoring that virtually sealed it in year we were promoted. NOT

Give over, granted I have been one of his biggest critics in recent weeks, but he went the right way for most of those penalties and that is a ridiculous stick to beat him with.

Think the break has done him the world of good, hopefully he will kick on from here and show us some of the quality we saw while he was here on loan.

Please look again at the penalties conceded and see how many any old keeper would have stopped, particularly the last one where had he not moved at all the ball would have hit him.

Please don't get me wrong, the loss wasn't all his fault. Some pretty lame penalties from our players did as much damage to our cause.

Nine times out of ten if you wait for the ball to be stuck it will be past you before you can even react.

Now I'm no goalkeeping coach but I'd say the majority of goalkeepers do guess which way it is going rather than waiting.
