Well done United.

The immenent collapse of our support and our slide into obscurity has been forecast for quite a long time now. e.g. "blah blah, and if the club does/doesn't do* (delete as appropriate) [insert whatever you have a bee in your bonnet about], then the crowds will stay away and we will crash to the Conference in 'N' years (where 'N' = a value inversely proportional to the panic).

Think you're reading a little too much into a couple of posts suggesting Saturday's crowd wasn't the greatest.
Chill out and be a bit more positive about it.

Some one mentioned last night about a sell on clause and some money going to dirty leeds.
What someone also said was that the leeds of today is a different company to the leeds that went in to admin. So do we have to pay them? Anyone shed any light ? where's Lenners when you need him? he seems to be good at that type of investigation.

:D football debt/credit is treated different  so we have to pay.

Thats £250 for my services, Paypal or cash Boo ?

Look at the contxt Bergen. Sure I'm upset to lose Killa. Personally I am very sorry to see him go. Depending on what KB does in the transfer market this could be the difference between us finishing 4th and 7/8th. I am very worried. Seip looks good and if we can keep him and Morgs fit and free from suspension we stand a good chance of getting in the play offs. It's a big if though and I don't think we have good enough cover.

Don't you understand we are not clapping the decision to sell one of our best players, but the price we got for him. When the talk was of 600k, a price of over £1 million is a good one. Not only that, but in that time we found a decent centre back as a replacement.

I think Kilgallon was class at Championship level and he will be missed. But don't you think that grabbing something in the region of £1-2 million for a player with 5 months left on his contract is good business?

Obviously I see the dilemma. I would probably have actively tried to sell him in August, some sources claimed we declined a £4m offer at the time.

The fact that we have let so many players go, and yet remain in a difficult financial situation tells me we have been paying a rather average squad playing very average football far, far too much. There's a case for saying we should have had a complete clear out and started fresh by building a new team as soon as we got relegated.

Looking at a Select XI we have let go:

Haber
Walker Jagielka Kilgallon Naughton
Cotterill Fathi Tonge Kazim-Richards
Hulse Beattie

I think that's a decent team (not many gk sales though :)), but while some posters claims there's hysteria every time we sell a player, I'll say that for pretty much all of those sales, there's been plenty of people who have been surprisingly happy to see them go.

And yet we huff and puff in the Championship, year by year, have little money to spend, and take away the loans, the not-so-young (but well-earning) squad doesn't look very impressive looking beyond this season...

Beighton's right, it's a football debt - just as if West Ham went bust and re-emerged as a different company they'd still owe us.
I think it's only 20% of the fee above £1m so it won't be a huge amount.

good fee for him with only a few months left, he's a decent player at this level and had a good partnership with morgan but we have to resign ourselves to the fact we could never offer him what he'll get elsewhere and he has no loyalty to us so makes far more sense to cash in now than keep him - IF we are able to get someone else to form a good partnership with Morgan and if we can invest either transfer money or wages into stengthening other areas. For me Seip looks ok but I'm worried the partnership may lack pace and still feel that Fortune may not be good enough backup but I don't want to write him off if I can help it because I really can't recall much of him before he joined us and although he's not been great yet he's not really played much either. I still feel we could do with getting in a mobile CB for either for additional cover or to use against teams with pace. Another player would be good too, in particular I'd love to see naughton back on loan at least. I don't think this would be unreasonable with £1 - 2m..

It can only be worrying though if we instead don't sign anyone else of note and and more money disappears into other areas/paying off mccabe again.

Are football debts different? surley if a club goes in to admin then the debt should go to pay the creditors?
No i've got this wrong they did not go in to liquidation but administration. Which means outside expert help comes in to make the club a viable business - i think.
Therefore they use existing assets to pay creditors and possibly negotiate payment plans with them.
If the club went in to liquidation then the Killa money would go in to that pot.
Think thats right.
Hmm little tip - think while you type you may answer your own question.

Someone tell me i've got somewhere near the answer.

:D hey up boo ..............

The only way monies on football debt are not paid is if a club ceases to exist. ( normal UK rules on admin/liquidation still exist to football clubs but the football gods insist football debt is honoured )

Still they come...

Anyway, Killa for anything £1m plus is cracking business. I dont expect Marcel Seip will expect to get £27k a week either...
directly proportional Dunc

directly proportional Dunc

I wrote that the greater the panic, the fewer the years until we drop out of the league. Therefore greater vs fewer = inversely...

Had I writen...'The greater the panic, the quicker our decline'...and you would be right...which you weren't...

Love

Nice try re weather - we'll see what happens in August.

Can't really take credit for the weather cheers for the credit.

Why wait until August, surely the crowds will drop now if you are right?

As I said previously I think we will get 25,000 against Reading and close to 30,000 against Derby. I do think ticket prices should be dropped if possible, but that's the crux of the issue.

Then again I think we will top 20,000 season tickets next year (only 19,000 this season).

Can anyone confirm the fact about ST's being counted regardless of them actually being at the game, I thought this was a common myth?

See the Oink-a-lots got 25k today.....
