... for sacking Adkins. It says to me they at least find it unacceptable (and rightly so) for Sheffield United to mid-table in the third tier of English football.

And good luck to Chrissy Wilder. Get the spine and spirit of the team right and we'll not go too far wrong, especially if the team shows the same fight as the new manager did (on and off the pitch ;) ).

Well done Kev, another reactionary step, continually repeating the mistakes of the last decade because.......because.....

We can use the transfer funds to pay off another manager and use the academy players from now on - Bambi on Ice and one if the Seven dwarfs look like the future.

Fucking do one, you incompetent fools.

Well done board? It's their consistent useless decision making that has got us into this predicament.

I for one greatly look forward to selling Billy Sharp just as the season starts.

Let's see if they back Wilder before we praise the board... half of our transfer kitty has just been spent getting rid of Adkins et al

Yup. Sacking every manager since Warnock has been incredibly productive and successful. It has completely turned the side round and increased our financial situation no end.

"chris has been allowed to use the funds from Ches sale to Burton for the first team"*

*brayfords wages.

Bet you wish they'd slashed season ticket prices now.

How about 11th place for factual stuff.

I understand your overall sentiments alcoblade in terms of chopping and changing managers etc. I don't agree with it, however, in this instance I think the fact we've sacked so many managers recently was the only reason in my mind to keep Adkins.

He's been woeful this season, really shocking. No clear system, no clear style of play, just a lot of hot air.

This is the right decision, regardless of whether we've been through a lot of managers recently.

It would have been a joke to have stuck with a manager who has just inflicted 12 months of downright abysmal football on us. This plonker was bigging up bottom of the league Crewe when we played them at their place ffs, this example being one of many other crimes against Sheffield United. Mid-table 3rd tier and 6 seasons in this piss pot division is unacceptable for a club like United. At the very least, if nothing else the events of today have proven that it is also unacceptable to our board.

Adkins wasn't in charge for 6 years.

The board was though........funnily enough.

Yep - really gutted we haven't got another season of Adkins' shite to look forward to.....not. How anyone could want him to stay after one of the worst seasons in our history is baffling.

Agree that we can't rely on the Academy though. But doubt Wilder would have come unless he had some assurances about bring able to bring players in.

I didn't say he had been in charge for the last 6 years but he has for the last 12 months and United have been downright awful under his charge. It was painfully obvious Adkins had to go.

In view of the speed in which this has been done, it would seem apparent to me that Wilder has been seriously considered for the job in the past and was, in all probability, a serious candidate last summer, just missing out to Adkins.

Difficult to explain any due diligence process otherwise !!!!

Good luck Tufty !!

Definitely the best appointment we could have had and I'm convinced he'll get us going in the right direction possibly promotion next season! Adkins only has himself to blame to be honest and I was keen for him to stay until Sunday when he totally lost the plot, or as others have said, he knew what was coming. Wiler is far more suited to United for obvious reasons and his knowledge of League's One and Two will be vital as opposed to signing has beings from the Championship, Sharp aside.

Got to agree with Blade58 well done the board for realising he was a mistake (anyone could have made given his CV). They acted decisively and in the words of Sun-Tzu said, “If words of command are not clear and distinct, if orders are not thoroughly understood, the general is to blame. (Dave Jones Star)

I'm looking forward to next season again for the past few hours long may it last.

Another ridiculous boardroom decision as far as I'm concerned, what was the point of employing Adkins then not backing the man apart from signing Sharp to ease the pain of losing Murphy? OK his transfer dealings or loans were hit and miss and I was hugely disappointed with Adkins but it must be hard to have to ship out a grossly inflated and poor squad and push on for promotion without any real money to spend. I feel we have missed a great opportunity here to clear out the dross and see what Adkins could do when he had assembled HIS team. Now we have to start again from square one with a manager who has no experience at this level just another cheap Bladey Blade option much like Micky Adams or Chris Morgan, they did well didn't they? Lets hope and pray Wilder can do better than those two, good luck to him he will need luck by the truckload, still Super Blade seems to think that was all that's been missing for the last eight years or so :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:. My thoughts ......................... same old mistakes being made and nothing learned. Same Owd, Same Owd.

?? How many years have you waited to title a thread like that?
If the board really wanted a well done they'd sack themselves.

And there's the problem. Most people think a years enough. It's rank stupidity, but you'll have plenty of support.

Assures mean fuck all, I bet McCabe told Adkins the same and he only made 2 permanent signings and 1 of those was a free transfer.

It's ironic that it's the ambition from the board that means we keep sacking the manager if they underperform.

Normally I would prefer to keep Adkins especially as his cv was so impressive.
However he failed to get the best out of the players at his disposal (unlike Warnock at Rotherham)
If anything we've been worse and the club has gone backwards under Adkins.

I can accept lack of talent but lack of effort, motivation and tactics are down to the manager.
It's not as though we were inconsistent. We were actually consistently an average to decent team.
We passed the ball well, especially in the centre circle but for all our attacking we hardly created chances. Other teams didn't attack us much but always seems to score.
