LOL

difficult to judge on the 20 minutes or so he had. He looks quick but he struggled to beat the full back on the couple of occasions he tried it. He didn't look like a 'game changer' but last night is probably not the game to judge him

We got a typical mixed bag from a youngster.

He had a glorious opportunity to get past the left back when he first came on and dithered.

Looked more dangerous when he came to the left. Had a good shot at the end which could have led to a goal from the follow up. We need to keep him as an option as Flynn seems to have lost it altogether and I find Murphy infuriating. One or two great things and then drifts out.

We need one of our wide men to come good. Westlake got forward well but overhit crosses and is suspect defensively.

Unless McMahon delivers a few good crosses I just can't see where our supply is coming from.

The other player we need to hit form is McDonald.

The evidence at the moment isn't good, I can't see us scoring goals.

Doyle closed down well for the goal I see, At least he was within 5 yards of the ball which is an improvement

It really pains me to say this but the ball only got to their player because Callum was caught wrong side against his winger. I really don't know why Morgan switched Callum to left back. As all the youngsters will be prone to mistakes as they learn, it's much better to keep him wide left in midfield. I really rate McFadzean and he can contribute further this season.

I know Doyle is not great at closing down but unless Morgan will trust Whitehouse we don't have anyone else in the squad who can play that position - we're stuck and have to hope Doyle has a couple of good games in the play offs.

I thought last night was a good opportunity to play Whitehouse (one half anyway) and give Doyle a break.

A huge credit does go to the ones who went. Especially the majority who had to get up and work this morning.

The minority ruin it. Like the two who basically shouted abuse at the steward 4 rows infront of them who basically was sitting there minding his own business.

"Steward is a cunt"
"Take your shit cap off steward you cunt"
"Steward daren't look at us"
"nah then steward, fuck off to Rotherham you tramp"

Basically they wanted a bit of a fight and didn't like the fact the steward ignored them. All the way through the second half we had to listen to these idiots.

It was embarrassing wasn't it ? Nothing whatsoever to do with supporting your team

They were two rows behind me. Two blokes in front of me left with the words, "We can't listen to them anymore - idiots!" I've said this elsewhere, but they weren't even remotely funny. Pathetic.

Why didn't people report them. Surely they would have got thrown out for that sort of behaviour.

One of the other stewards noticed it. Called over to the group of stewards in the corner. None of them wanted to come over, eventually a lady steward came over, he whispered to her what was going on. She went back to where she was stood.

Don't think they had the balls to challenge them

One wonders what they are paid for. No police around?

To be fair, the steward probably knew that making a fuss would just create a bigger one - so he just put up with him. Fair play, but he shouldn't have to.

I noticed last night, as I was stood next to a steward, how rude people were in general to him. He politely helped lots of people along their way, and nobody seemed to be able to return a simple thank-you. I think fans generally view them with contempt, which I don't really understand. Some of the players..........now that's a different story.

UTB

and I will clarify my position on Doyle. He is fine with me if he sticks to his position infront of the back 4 and lays its off. It's when he goes chasing the ball like a headless chicken that he suddenly becomes useful. His best game for me was the play off final because he stuck to his job for 90 minutes.

You have a point in regards to McDonald, however you may have noticed that Doyle can only shout at the kids, he is completely pointless as a captain when it comes to senior players around him. We need a captain who can take this team by the balls, however just have a bunch of achieved nothing 30+ year olds brought in by Wilson

I have no response to that as you clearly watch the games with your eyes closed.

obviously we differ, but I suggest I don't watch with my eyes closed, however that works. If you want your tackling midfielder to be 5 seconds late for every 1st or 2nd ball then you have your player

After last night, I personally would play the same U-18 team that defeated SWFC 4-1 yesterday. Chances are it could be more entertaining.

I do think that Doyle goes missing in games quite often, whether that is down to MacDonald is another question, but certainly MacDonald has been woeful to shit for 85% of the season.
If they played the U-18s I'd go Saturday

This was after one of the clowns said something racist. The steward at the bottom near me heard it and called over the lady steward (presumably a supervisor). I lip-read him repeating the phrase and after consideration I think they decided to leave it. It may have been because they couldn't actually work out who they were abusing at the time. I couldn't either.

Further to the left there were 2 or 3 police so they could have taken it up if the supervisor had asked. I must admit I was expecting it and for the situation to kick off in a bad way.

I just found it all excruciatingly embarrassing. However, I have to admit I do not have the balls to confront people.

Having said that, the stewards and the police had everything they needed to take action if they wanted to.

Well done to all the fans who are ridiculing this pathetic collection of players. About time they got some abuse. Keep it up lads.
Not brave enough to give the wife/boss/dog any abuse so might as well give it to the players. After all I paid mi' twenty quid to get in.

Doyle deserves all the abuse he gets. He's happy to steal a wage from the club for minimal effort in return. He is supposed to be our club captain and is an absolute disgrace a lot of the time. I agree with the fans who were chanting, we don't want him here anymore. The only way our club can move forward is by getting rid of people like him.

Yes. Thank God we have someone to blame! I was getting worried there was no one to target my frustrations at, especially now Monty is gone and all.

Why just Doyle? There are other players in the team who have been consistently worse than him in recent games so why aren't you slating them as well ?

Were you one of those slagging Quinn off in previous seasons or Hill and Flynn this season?

There isn't just Doyle; however, Doyle is mainly targeted as he is the club captain.

Fair enough. For me,against Preston ,Forte and MacDonald will be the first ones left out as they have been poor for a few games

I think a distinction needs to be drawn between the what passes for "wit" when you're an imbecile and the general noises of frustration by the majority there last night.

I thought it was amusing reading Twitter, as it became blindingly obvious who had been at the game ("shite", "embarrassing", "no bollocks") and those who hadn't ("Morgs will push us over the line", "chins up lads and ignore the idiot fans").

Some were almost suggesting that if we cross our fingers and hope really really hard, then we're sure to prevail.

Well I've hoped and hoped but the performances this week are beyond it. I'm not a fan of booing, but the majority last night were displeased and booing is hardly going to make them worse.

You know, it has to be worth finding out if Doyle of McDonald is the problem as their partnership no longer works. DOyle is under fire because he opens his trap and says the wrong thing.

Other than the performance,Linz,it wasn't the booing that got me annoyed last night it was the targeting of certain players, one of which wasn't playing that badly in particular in comparison to his midfield partner. If they weren't trying,or making loads of mistakes I could understand the odd comment but the abuse they received crossed the line at times.

And all because Doyle made a non abusive gesture to fans who were goading him, some went up in arms calling him a wanker. Some wanted to give it out but didn't want to take it back.

Performances are poor but football is a game where one incident can turn the tables. Where we have a chance we have hope and we may succeed in the play offs . However,I hope Morgan channels the fans' aggreession to tell the team to prove the doubters wrong.

I brought up my kids to support The Blades but always told them that they would always let us down. However, this makes the good times brilliant and maybe this season, depite how shit we have been, the team may provide us with a pleasant surprise :-)

I got well and truely fed up of the bollocks spouted towards Porter and Westlake first half too.

Some people have clearly never played football at any level or even have a basic understanding. So many times in the first half Westlake got a rocket for not standing in a further advanced position or running up the line in situations that no pro-footballer should even consider leaving his responsibilities to bomb on to the position where his mate is stood watching from (the same one who ignores all of his shouts and communication).

Porter will be forever slated any time he's in the same half as the ball, because he's Chris Porter. I'm also not sure there is anyone in the world with the capability of pulling off the headers, direction, cushioning and neck contortion most seem to expect from him as the ball is smashed towards his throat with 5 men hanging off him :)

It was ridiculous (particularly first half) that if you looked at Porter, he was swarmed with opposition, yet at the point of his knock down, or a clearance into midfield we had so little space.

You are so right on McDonald, it's been a bugbear of mine for a long while that people overlook his mistakes yet jump on others. Playing the ball 6 yards behind a player and out of play, straight to an opponent or randomly sliced for a goal kick would see him crucified by some with a different name on their shirts.

The majority of them are poor at the moment, but like you say, it's even more frustrating when people are more intent to abuse the scapegoats than work out the actual problems.

So how come MacDonald has avoided the scapegoat tag then ? He has been just as bad as Doyle this season if not worse ?
what?? he hasn't been anywhere near as bad.. at least he can make a pass.. with either foot.. problem with KMac is he has noone to pass to.. anyway don't worry about KMac, he will be gone mate.. now that he has sorted his injury problems out he'll be sold by McCabe pronto and we'll be left with the Monty esque tryers and put a good fucking shift in monkeys like flynn and fans like you will be pleased.
jesus fucking wept

that's it i give up.. sheffield united fans are a bunch of fucking morons. goodbye. enjoy your hoofball.

What a disgrace you are at times. Not all of you but the small minority that decided to chant wanker at the club captain we don't want you here.

Doyle is public enemy no. 2 around these parts (behind Forte) so what ever he does he gets slated for it. Yes the ball to the wing was poor but boo and hurl abuse etc was ridiculous. That was one of the only things Doyle did wrong last night. In a performance so poor all round he never stopped running and intercepting the balls trying to get us going. Doyle does his job but for some fans this isn't enough.

McDonald never gets knocked and he doesn't perform.

Chappell came on did a similar pass that was intercepted but he's young so they applaud his effort. Where's the difference?

Doyle is a bigger man than I am. I wouldn't have come over to shake the delinquents hand at the end.

Doyle is old, Chappell is young and so is MacD. It's like saying "Heskey when he shoots and misses he gets booed, but when benetke misses he should get booed aswell but you guys cheer him:("

And I would of loved to of seen it
