Let me be the first to put a thread on here welcoming Mr Adams.

I'm hoping that this is the first step of the Blades Revival.

Whilst Adams was not my first choice, he was the sensible choice for stability THIS season.

I don't believe he is the long term solution for progression, but we'll have to wait and see now.

Personally I see him as a man to get this toothless set up players, who've suffered 3 managers so far this season, Micky is now the 4th and the players really don't know which type of football they should be playing.

Against Barnsley and Hull we showed that were a side without guidance or direction. When asked to step up and show 100% commitment, Bartley and Quinn thought this meant that we needed to throw fists or head-butts at the opposition. Reid and Ched realised that this meant sticking the ball in the back of the net.

Good luck to Micky, he's not the people's choice, we wanted SoD, but lets get behind him and hope (and pray) that he can turn it around. I think he can, but I doubt it'll be pretty this season!

Keep the expectations low people.

This season wouldn't have been pretty, whoever we'd have appointed.

He was my first choice and quite a few other people's as well. SOD would have ended in tears.....I firmly believe that, though I would have been prepared to let him have a go.

There is no "people's choice" when it comes down to it. No matter who United would have set on, there would have been some supporters either unhappy or simply willing to accept it and nothing more. That goes for SOD as well!

Adams is a good choice IMO because he will keep us up, whilst injecting some passion and enthusiasm back into the club. HE IS NOT A HOOF MERCHANT as some (who have already set out a new agenda) would like the masses to believe and he will prove his sides can mix it up over time.

Good luck Micky and UTB!

I have a feeling that well wishes will be few and far between....

I met up with about 35 old mates last night from all over thre place. Other than the ususal attention seekers on here, I haven't spoken to anybody who doesn't think Adams is a good appointment (given our circumstaces). Plenty wanted SOD, most of those thought he was risky and would get us relegated, but everyone agreed Adams was a decent choice.

Yes, very best of luck to Micky Adams & Alan Cork.

Now its time for all true Blades to get behind them and, most importantly, give them time.

He was not my first choice but I welcome him and wish him well, of course. I just hope that this "hoof" ball assumption is incorrect...BTW I never though NW was only just hoofball, it was something the media wanted to portray. One of his first jobs IMHO is to address the discipline problem we seem to have developed. Of course, its a sign of players under pressure to produce results, but it does not make us any friends and we are more likely to suffer perverse decisions from officials. I am 100% behind Adams and the players, he has one thing that many others dont have....like Warnock...he is a Blade and that gave NW a head start.

PS Ballinpub....who is that chick on your avatar!!!

Congrats with the new job Mr Adams, i'll be giving you a good welcome on Monday :)

I'm keeping WELL away from the 'A sad day for the Blades' thread as it's (mostly) playground bickering. Any Wednesdayites seeing it must be pissing themselves and C & Ping it on Owlstalk. Have we come to this? Recently we were among the most passionate fans around and now the sound of toys being thrown out of prams is deafening.
It's really amusing. It wouldn't have mattered who we got, some people would have criticised. Who did these people want that would have made them 100% happy? The list was long and fairly undistinguished. I never understood the SO'D bandwagon, but then we saw Hart and Laws added (probably by their agents/press) and it all got ridiculous.
Whoever we got would have been a gamble with no guarantee of 'success' (which this season is staying up, pure and simple). It's not because of the board, lack of finances, paucity of talent etc. It's not because it's United.

It's because the vast majority of managers are crap and rely on the law of averages to keep them in jobs. Look at 'em - falling like flies at the moment. Why? Is it because of 'boardroom/supporter impatience'? Or is it because most of 'em ain't that good at being a manager.

So welcome MA and don't listen to some of the crap you'll hear from the 'fans'. Who would they have rather had? Woy Hodgson?

I'm with SteelCity on this one.

Micky Adams WAS and is my first choice, and I wish him and Alan Cork every success.

With the squad he has inherited he's going to need it.

I'm very pleased that Micky Adams has been appointed, it gives us a chance to stay in the division this season. I was getting pretty convinced that we were heading down. I'm sure that Adams will take a pragmatic view of things this season - it's obvious that results count more than performances until we are safe. Replacing Ellis with Corky is a definite step in the right direction as well.

he gets a big hey up from me swiss ! ...... i feel it in mi water he's going to be a Blades legend.

Quote Micky:

"Alan Cork is a great attacking coach and a great set piece coach"

Not before bloody time!!!

Good luck Micky.

When I took the dog out today there was a bounce in my step, this feels right and the interview he's just given on Sky had the hairs on my arms stood up so gut feeling is:

Yes. Onwards and upwards.

Also from me. Not my first choice but on the grand scheme of things he's good enough for me.

Very excited at seeing what Alan Cork can do, especially with Evans. Heard very good things about his coaching abilities and if someone is out there who could get the best out of Ched then it's him.

Lets hope he's given some room in January to get some players in and hopefully it'll be onwards and upwards.

UTB!!

You with us Pinchy?

I'm happy with it - just never got the feeling that SOD would have had the balls for it. Bring it on - we'll hammer Villa and spark from there.

Good luck to Micky and Corky.
I'm sure the majority of Blades will get behind them.

Just to put some perspective on it, the ones doing the moaning will be Len, Olle and Mic. No shit, Sherlock. There doesn't seem to be many too disappointed with this, if only out of practicality.

At least pinchy is consisntent in his thirst for total football. Nowt wrong with that.

You with us Pinchy?

Yes Grumpy I am. I've been a Blade for over 50 years and I can't get off the bus I'm afraid.

As you will have gathered my main emotion is one of extreme frustration at an opportunity missed. I do, however, wish Micky Adams all the best. Of course I do. That doesn't mean I shall not have my say when I think he's got it wrong [or if I think he's got it right!]

I shall not be so patronising as Steel City is towards SoD - 'I would have been prepared to let him have a go' - neither shall I post pictures celebrating the day the Pigs completely outclassed us and should have beaten us 10-1, like Beighton Blade.

I don't expect miracles. I shall be looking for green shoots. I hope he assesses his squad objectively and doesn't value commitment [essential though it is] over ability.

Anyway, that said, Good Luck to Micky Adams.

Certainly not the worst managerial decision been made in the last 5 years.

Let's hope it's the best eh?

Welcome Micky and Alan.

Du Courage Micky! I'm behind you! Hopefully this is the day United got its mojo back.

Best of luck to Adams. It will be really interesting to see how he's going to do things, both short term (January) and long term.
