Just realised it's Moshe Dayan who would have been defense (sic) secretary at the time. I think this must have been just after the attack at the Munich olympics, Dayan was behind the Mosad resprisals and the Yom Kippur war effort 12 months after this

Its Moshe Dayan, sometime Israeli general. He lost his eye fighting for the British against the French in Syria during World War II.

The picture was taken in February 1972 in the week after the 5-0 home defeat to Arsenal. Blades played a match or two in Israel. The Munich Olympics was in Sept 1972

OK, I was assuming that it was a pre-season not mid-season tour, and that the olympics were earlier than that. I was at the 5-0 game as a young lad, but thankfully remember little of it.

Not very weird, but this is from a pre season friendly in 1994. It started raining heavily after the match and Nathan Blake was unwilling to walk from the dressing room to the bus, so he got the kid with the umbrella to escort him. Blake walked funnily, which made people laugh.

The picture of Moshe Dayan meeting the Utd players is from the front cover of the programme from the home game against Man City on Feb 12th '72.

There was a report of the trip to Israel inside the programme. The coach driver .. Bert .. gets a mention ..
