Weir out

Because its pointless. People entrenched in an opinion after 7 games.
I don't know if Weir is the right appointment, but I think we need to be having this conversation considerably later in the season than September.

People aren't entrenched. Some would sack him now, some Christmas, and no doubt there's a point where you'd sack him.

It's not surprising is it? We aren't debating a disappointing start but a diabolical one. It's almost the lowest point in our history. He's had the whole summer to realise what he needed to do. Yet 7 games in, and 2 cup competitions later, we haven't once demonstrated that we can do anything other than one formation for the duration. Surely alarm bells are at least ringing with you?

If you employed a cleaner one day a week and he/she left your house a shit heap after her first seven visits, would you think it the wrong time to sack them?
I don't tend to hire cleaners on multiple year contracts with control of multi million pound assets.

The only glimmer of hope for me is that he is seemingly getting the "right players" out of the club. No Porter, Flynn or Murphy today is another good step, it's just a pity that the results aren't starting to turn because I feel he''ll pay the ultimate price.

if he goes.then who`s in??
sven,o`neill?
im sure the hand will be dealt soon, but i do feel sorry for the bloke.
He`s inherited a bad squad and tried to make it work.

The persistence with one up front is bizarre. He was fairly clear in his book that he didn't like that tactic, and that you had to be a fairly special player like Drogba to make it work. Well, what has changed his mind?

I can only assume that he's looked at the strikers, decided he has no good options, and has decided that playing one average striker rather than two average strikers ensures we have a better overall 11. That is clearly not working.

McCabe, when asked what the extra investment might mean in the short term, talked of getting better playing staff "and potentially better coaching/managerial staff". We are short on ideas - perhaps we will bring in a new person to his backroom team.

Assistant Manager: Tactics.

Good post - one point - "Average striker". Really?

:)

Weir has got to have a change of approach, ok we are playing nice tippy tappy football but it is ineffective football. before Pinchy jumps in to say we love hoof I think what we want to see is effective attacking PASSING football from the Blades. Even under Colin we played some great football and he was labelled a hoof merchant, the thing was we mixed it up a bit and played without fear a lot of the time. At the moment sad to say Weir is being far too rigid in his tactics even though they clearly are not working, in fact he is fast becoming a Bryan Robson Mk2 passing 20 times across the back four is utter shite as is pulling every player back to defend corners ffs leave a man forward the other team then keeps 2 men back to mark him it is not rocket science. This guy is turning out to be even more negative than Wilson if that is possible or more of a scared pussy with no balls.
p.s credit Keith Edwards for saying on air what the majority of fans are thinking.

Agreed. I think he knows rubbish when he sees it. It's his ability to affect it that's the concern.

Fair point and I would give him a bit more time. However, given the crap results and the complete lack of any signs of improvement (indeed, we seem to have gone steadily backwards since the Notts County game), I wouldn't give him that long. Sometimes people just aren't fitted for a particular job.

Spot on. It's like Robson all over again, though I can't remember Robson ever being so fixed in his ideas. Same shite conclusion mind.

Again I'd agree with that, but I think we are at the start of something which could be a total change of ethos and way forward for United. I like the fact we are looking to buy good young technically able players, I like the fact we are looking at possession based style. I don't expect automatic promotion this season, and therefore I don't think giving the manager a lot longer is a problem before having to make a decision about his continued role at the club.
I don't think anyone would have a problem with the permanent signings made, both are good players who are better than our current level. We just need more to compliment them.

Weir needs sacking tonight!
We have had 1 shot and lost to the worst side in the division and it is simply not good enough!

He's made a few more signings that are questionable to be fair. I suspect the latter 2 reflect the new ownership (ie not scraping the barrel) to be fair to him.

He'd give her til christmas, then sack her!

I am sorry to say after seeing the team sheet there was only one result today, and for that reason he's ooot

When you are signing young players there is always the risk not all of them will work out and we've not seen enough of any of them yet to totally write them off.

Its not just the results why everyone is so down on him ,its the manner and the lack of management. No one can see what he is doing ,fans ,commentators, ex-pros, and even the players ,but the ones who matter are the directors and the buck stops with them. It really is simply not good enough ,football is about passion , entertainment and results ,we have none. I did agree with Latters who to be fair bucked the trend and was against the appontment ,but he had more bottle than me and spoke out.Its a no from me.

I also believe if we had lost games 4-3, 3-2 then fans would think "we can score so just give him time to sort the defence" Equally if we had drawn the last 4 games 0-0 Weir would buy time with "lets give him chance to sort out the attack"

But its neither so the impression is he has no idea all over the field

Oh, I have given up on promotion this season. My problem is that with Weir in charge I think there is a real risk of relegation.

No, I agree. But as poor as the squad is now, it's tactics and formation that's letting him and us down now, and there's no evidence he knows how to address this. It's results AND performance that are dreadful.

Given the excuse for Wilson's removal, surely that argument is stronger for Weir's removal? Indeed I think I'd prefer Wilson back. At least he could get results - after a fashion.

Wilson lost 7 league games in the season before we parted company with him. Weir has already clocked up 5.

McCabe has a history of giving managers time. But we have no idea what Prince Abdullah's level of patience is. Selahattin Baki was at the game today - I doubt the report back to him will be a good one.

I thought Weir was a superb appointment at the time, the man to turn things around and stop the rot.

The evidence to say that i was wrong is overwhelming proportionate to how confident i was.

This was their first 'cleaning appointment' yes? Though they had been employed as an assistant cleaner to a prestigous client on Merseyside.

We actually beat "the worst side in the division". Seems ages ago already though. Didn't we have a ridicous amount of goal chances that night as well? Can one player really make that much difference?

To be fair i think most of us only "agreed" with his appointent, cos everybody else had turned us down. And it was between him and a few proven losers. Under those circumstances, may as well go with someone not yet proven to be useless. Time to cut our losses and find a proper manager. This time, it has to be the right man though. And that there is a worry. We could do worse than Russell Slade, but it would hardly get anybody excited. Plus he would be certifiable to leave top of the league to come here.

Time for him to go already.

Not seeing anything positive in this team at the moment.

You could argue Wilson's time was a work in progress and he lost most of the squad he had. Weir has his team and seems to have turned down options to improve the side.
