Next three matches will be key without Fleck, anyone got any ideas whether we will have to ride this wave of form or if we will pull out of the duck? Just thinking about how we will need to find a way to 'stop the rot' so to speak.
Opinions?

Mark Duffy.

If he doesn't play well then we're fucked to be honest. He was our best player against Bristol City and the game got away from us as soon as he was substituted.

We're going to get outplayed in the middle of the pitch until Fleck returns.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect from the next three games.

If we take four points from the next three games it will be a decent run, actually four points from the next four games will be not bad.

We need to hang in until the JTW and we need to have identified our targets and get them in early before The Pigs, and no doubt their new manager, turn up the second Friday into the month.

Come on, we could have any 3 from Basham, Carruthers, Duffy and Lundstram in Midfield, all quality players and we only need to use 3 of them, so still scope for movement. Closing down on the edge of the area to prevent long range shots and let our 22 goal strike partnership do their stuff. If we could just shake the shitty luck we'll be fine.

While ever we continue to completely ignore the concept of defending, we can forget about stopping any rot.

It's fucking shit and it needs fixing.

A bit extreme ( unusually ) , but there is an underlying truth in this.

I have my own ideas as to how it should be fixed but am interested to hear yours first.

For starters I see no merit in having Carter Vickers in central defence. He's fucked up too many times.

The return of George Baldock means I never want to see Basham in that position again. His positional sense has been nothing short of woeful.

Any player from centre-mid backwards needs to start closing attackers down better. We've let in all too many 25 yarders because they've been allowed too much time to get a shot off. The Birmingham goal was especially pathetic.

The reason why we're flooding the field with attacking subs to "go for the win" is because we're always behind in the first place. It has to stop.

I have a feeling we will be ok. With all the hype of Fleck and Coutts I think it put added pressure on anyone in that midfield to fit in and play how they think Fleck or Coutts would play. With Neither in the side the incoming players can hopefully settle into a game that works for them, not only that expectations are lower on them.

Well said.

If Bash plays midfield the defence is fucked. We can discuss the merits of Lundstram till the cows come home but he isn't an adequate replacement for Coutts. Carruthers is shit. Duffy can't do it all by himself and he's knackered after an hour. I'd play the forgotten man Lafferty at LWB and stick Edna in midfield for a start.

Basham into midfield will help us defensively.

Looking forward to Saturday.

I could preface this with the phrase " what the f*ck do I know" however ...

I just think we need a bit of steangth up front and have hold onto the ball better in the final 3rd . We've been a bit suceptable to breakaway goals of late not necessarily due to committing too many men forward but just losing the ball in attacking positions . We will have less streangth in midfield as don't hav the personnel and don't necessarily have the pace either . Not suggesting hoofball but some physically up top to hold the ball better .

Then I again I can refer to my openining statement

Agreed - but what are your solutions?

I would start with Wright in the middle - doing nothing but just sitting, defending and organising.

Bash and JOC either side - and bollox to considering Bash for CM. We need to return to a settled 3 at the back.

Like most - but not sure about Enda - isn't this square peg in a possible round hole?

I think its all about tempering expectations.

Many of us "don't know" cos we've had such consistency in team selection for so long now, that we're stepping into unknown territory. No Fleck, Coutts or Freeman and Baldock only just back. We've really benefitted from such consistency. No player is bigger than the club, but those 4 have been fantastic for us this year, and 3 of them were integral last year too.

So I think its about expectations. We hope for the best from these three games and then reinforce in January. When we can hopefully get back to our way of dictating games, if not before then of course. One things for certain though, with Wilder in charge, we've always got hope of getting something...

Basham into CM with Lundstram and Duffy. Jake Wright at CH with O’Connell and Stearman.

Agree with much of what you say although, in fairness to Bash, when both Freeman and Baldock were injured, he was asked to do a job and in my view made a decent fist of it.

In the bigger picture, we have lost the same number of games and conceded 5 more goals than Millwall and they are 17 th. which indicates to me that at least part of the formula is not working as it should and part of that has to be down to team selection both before and during the process of certain matches.

Heresy I know, but that's the way I see it.

I've been thinking on exactly the same lines re Lafferty and Stevens. The back three clearly need more protection, particularly when it's not Basham, Wright and JOC and Enda could be just the man to play in front of them in a holding role.

It will be a minor miracle if we manage to get 3 points from the next 3 games.

Defend,defend,defend,........and keep a clean sheet.
Get Donaldson on in the second half and utilise his pace with some good through balls.
Moore can turn defence into attack with pin point distribution,he did it two or three times against Bristol.
Midfield trinity now down to one so we have to accommodate change for now, getting standins won’t work.
Give Carruthers a full game a bit deeper and keep bash at the back.

I’ll get mi coat.

Yet another thread confirming we are a club devoid of ideas , Wilder has no squad plan and our bench is populated with useless fuckers incapable of trying to fill any short term void
Fancy us coming up to the Championship with just 11 players . Wilder forgot completely we might suffer injuries and suspensions , well easily done
Our one hope now is we can draw another 10 games to stay upas we cant rely on players like Basham Wright and others to step up.
