Says Mr McCabe - on RS - All down to bad player purchases in the past and Micky will sort it out !
Oh dear-ex Chairman ' The shutters are down' - he's open up his mouth again

McCabe has a lot to answer for and it was a bit foolish to put a timescale on an ambition like getting into Europe.

But I do believe he was right at the time to have those ambitions and to believe in our potential that we could actually achieve something.

Our gates in the prem with restricted away followings showed we could easily muscle in on the top 10 with good management and some exciting signings.

The worst thing that could happen to United now is that we crawl back into our shell and accept that we will forever be crap and accept mediocrity as our lot.

That way lies the effective death of this club.

In such hard times for the club, those at the top must make sure more than ever that they remain ambitious and keep their drive and give us something to believe in.

Did he say anything about bad managerial appointments?

Surprised he's commented tbh, his reputation is so low very few pay any attention to his proclaimations anymore and one of the reasons CS took the helm was that he has this "terrific reputation with the fans"

Shouldn't he - as Chairman - be the one making such statements or is the relationship with KM along the lines of Ray Alan/Lord Charles?

If thats what he genuinely thinks then he's been out of the country for too long. Unfortunately our Mick has turned a side 'in danger' of being one of a glut of teams with a chance of going down, into odds on favourites to go down - oh and signed 7 players in the process. Well done McCabe yet another master stroke of your footballing wisdom

Maybe Rod Hull and Emu!

I think you'll find his mouth was writing cheques his butt couldn't cash.

A point of order, Kevin McCabe is the chairman of SUFC plc the ultimate controlling company of the club and the owner of the club.
The appointment of the carpet man was a bit silly as it looks like an attempt to make out someone else has influence when, in reality, they don't.

So what would you have done when Speed left?

Why does no one realise these days that a manager needs time to bring his own players in, install his footballing philosophy on the training ground, and get a squad to gel together. It never happens overnight, and usually takes months. Man Utd were on the brink of sacking Fergie after poor initial results, remember. And look how long it took Warnock to put a promotion-winning squad together.

Most of Micky's games have been with a team he inherited, which is not a very good one. We were seconds away from beating Millwall and our first win can't be far away. Yes we are crap but so are many other teams, and we are improving. Micky did not turn a crap squad into a worse one.

We are evens with most bookies BTW.

dkc Blade,
Not sure if you've seen us play recently but we definitely aren't improving.

At home I'd say we were until the other night. Overall, it's difficult to argue so. But we've looked like relegation fodder all year, under 4 managers.

I've said before that Blackwell is far from the worst manager we've had (Robson), but I've no doubt that he set the relegation wheels in motion with the squad he assembled at the start of this season. That was clear to anyone who endured the humiliation of Hartlepool.

UTB

The last two home games have both been poor performances against mid-table sides and definitely worse than those against Leicester and Norwich.
