We WILL go down

The snowball rolling downhill towards Division Four is still gathering weight and momentum, I take no pleasure in saying I told you so before the season even started :(:(:(

Nowt changes eh ......................

Sat in Crewe rail station having witnessed the most inept performance for many years. We are going down! I believe in clough but we all knew we needed a striker and if barn door billy is the answer what's the question? Do you want to watch league 2 football next season?

Billy fuckin Paynter and decorator more like, pub team striker at best

Before today, I thought just a point at Crewe would be another wasted opportunity. Make no mistake, this result is as bad as 4-0 at home to Scunthorpe when we went down from the Championship. We can see the train wreck coming, but are seemingly unable to stop it.

At 2-0 at half time, the only change I was hoping for on Final Score was 'Match Abandoned'.

Anybody still glad we didn't panic in the JTW but will wait until summer?

This is what I don't understand. Let's take stock in summer and build a team. What about now! Surely we need to stop up first.

People are saying that they want Clough to come out and apologise to the fans. He can apologise all he wants for me, and shout as loud as he likes at the players. It still won't change the fact that we're in serious shit with a good bunch of individual players who for some reason can't play as a team on a consistent basis.
Frustrating doesn't even come close to how I feel about this club at the present time.

God, remember after that game when several fans were banging on about that being an encouraging display and seeing the green shoots of recovery? That's when I knew we were on a hell of a slide, when a 4-0 home mauling to Scunthorpe is a cue for optimism.

I want the players to come out and apologise not clough. Although he could explain his substitutions today- taking off both wingers and creating the most shapeless formation ever seen on a football pitch

Somebody convince me otherwise.
That's up to the players.

In regard to being convinced.....I'm no more convinced now that we are in trouble then I have been for the last three months. One result doesn't change it, we're shit and need to be better.

The problem is that it's not been just one result, has it. This is one of a series of poor league results.

It seems we cannot hang onto a lead, cannot get any away points, and if we concede first the we are done for.

Still plenty of games left and all is far from lost, but we really do need to start winning games soon, and stop dropping points to those around us in the table.

We are sleepwalking into relegation. This is just like the last time we went into division 4. Everyone thinks we'll get out of it, there are 4 worse teams than us etc- wake up and smell the coffee! This lot have no fight.

Today's game was worse. The Scunthorpe game at home was bizarre in that United created 20 chances, 9 on target and 12 corners. Nothing in today's stats suggests they were putting up a fight. Adams results in February did for us, 2 points from 7 games. There was no way back at that point.

We're facing another big February.

Today is the first time that under Clough I do believe we will go down. I just hope we stick by him and he sticks with us. We need a striker on day 1 of the loan window. It really was crazy not to sign a decent one.

I respect your views BB but if the players came out on bended knees and apologised profusely, then we lose the next game 3-0, would we be asking for more apologies?? I totally hear what you're saying but there's only so many times you can apologise before you take a good hard look at yourself and make the decision to get yourself in order.

I try to air on the side of optimism, but this isn't looking great. Today's game was huge, and we've missed a massive opportunity.

Starting to feel and look like the Micky Adams half to the season.

We need 8 wins out of 20 games, so far under Clough we've managed 5 in 15. At least that make it look achievable.

I just hope the new lads he's brought in can settle quickly and we can get a settled side. I don't think letting Brandy go was a good idea - i know he was made a few stupid mistakes (nothing our 'captain' hasn't done!), but he's another threat coming off the bench and another forward option, especially with Miller struggling to get going. I look at the bench at the minute and it looks weak with little impact.

Next weeks game is huge, no two ways about it.

I don't think it's anything like the last time we went down to division4. In 1980-1 we were never in any real relegation trouble until the last few games, and at no stage in the season were we in the bottom four until about 4-40PM on the last day.

That season we did sleep walk to relegation. This season we aren't. We are plunging headlong into it.

It doesn't look good does it. I wonder if Yankee Jim still thinks all the negativity is misplaced?

We can still reach the play offs ................................ mathematically

I'm not drinking any more .................................................................... then again I'm not drinking any less

However much it is it's too much ;)

I couldnt have put it better. We had better players at the time and definitely had better central midfielders

Lets hope the deal is already done, it's that important.

Also lets hope it's two.
