Four season of magic and a rise so fast we have hardly had time to adjust, you would have to be blind not to see that sooner or later it was bound to catch up with us and it couldn't have happened at a better time .
It started at the end of last season, but only after we were certain of staying up, and it's given the management two windows in which to make the adjustments needed to keep us here. so maybe this is the perfect time.
Everyone has been saying we need to build a team for the Premiership and that's just what is happening although it may not be happening fast enough for some (does it ever ?) I've every faith in CW/AK to do what ever is necessary to build that team that will take us that, step nearer to the dream .
So instead of all this moaning abut the start to this season let's look for the positives, lets support the lads instead of all this doom and gloom. because it's going to be a lovely day tomorrow......

I like your analysis Benny and feel much the same. Expectations rise as milestones are reached.
I imagine CWAK feel the same and as you rightly say,we're at the next phase of adjustment before pushing on again.
While for many reasons it's imperitive we stay in the prem,it's no time to be pressing the panic button as is seemingly happening with a small minority of us Blades.(myself excluded)
Still think it will be tougher this season than last and maybe more so because of the current circumstances.
However,time for us all to wear our testacles on the outside of our trousers and continue to enjoy the ride whilst remaining proud to be part of our continuing journey. Albeit from an unsociable distance.

I think our season will be very similar to Watford's last year (without the managerial changes).

We'll look very much in the shit or doomed after 8-10 games. We'll then have a revival period in the middle third of the season and perhaps drag ourselves just out of the relegation zone with 8/9 games to go.

The key will be whether we can maintain that position during the final part of the season. Watford had a dip in form at that point that they couldn't afford to have because of their poor start, which sent them down.

I think we'll have the mentality and bollocks to keep our heads above water. It'll be a struggle but for me staying in the league this season would be a real achievement.

I think my main issue with referring to this as a blip is that would suggest that this is a chance occurrence and by extension, when we return to form it'll also be by chance, or because it's time for the blip to be over.

We can't rely on chance, blips or luck. We need to analyse the issues and try to address them.

For me, we lack creativity at the moment and the reasons for that are multiple, but I wonder if having Freeman around to change our style would've helped. This blip isn't due to chance, it's because we've become stuck in a rut tactically and we're lacking players with the ability to create.

To be fair, in what is the shittiest of shitty seasons, with no fans, key player injuries,l and poor officiating, I relish us having something to play for.

Because if it is to be a battle for survival this season with the odds already stacked against us, then there is no better man to have in the trenches than Chris Wilder.

The need to strengthen to overcome these injuries will leave us with a stronger squad with better depth and experience.

Let’s embrace the challenge.

And we don't want either any more injuries (been lucky until back end of lat season or stupid red cards. Another bad injury to a key player and we may go into a tailspin

Hit it on the head there Kossy, for all the money we've spent over the last couple of years we don't have one player on the books who's a game changer. We desperately need a younger fitter Duffy type player who can unlock defences and give the strikers something to feed on.

The problem with “game changers“ is they tend to cost quite a lot of money but are still inconsistent...think David Brooks.
The consistent game changers are 70 million plus....the the question is can we carry inconsistent passengers?

Think most of our fans would criticise the club for a police that gambles.

Our formulaic approach (average hard working players playing as a team who are tactically superb) has been successful for 4 years
....logic suggests stick to what we’ve been successful at. Think the “high quality game changer” is the next step
but it’s evolution....not revolution......maybe Brewster will be that high quality star player who can score from nothing.

We've lost 4 games this season not 7 and all by a small margin, let's not try too hard to blow this up out of all proportion for personal reasons eh.
If we had won them all I'm starting to get the feeling some on here would still be finding faults.
The earliest time to fairly judge how this season is going will be Christmas not 4 games in.......
