We went for a new approach this transfer window...

Leicester went for a different approach too
They refused to sell Harry Maguire to Man Utd

I fully expect Harry to be furious and have nark on now, I expect him to not play well, cause disruption in the dressing room, lose his concentration, make dozens of mistakes and end up getting sold to Scunthorpe in the next couple of years

Or maybe, just maybe it was another Sheffield United lie

The club is a perfect example of the city it belongs to. It will never be a leading light amongst its peers because it’s held back by decades of “socialist” shite. We don’t have top stores and restaurants compared to others because no one would spend the money. Didn’t see the point in it.

We don’t have an airport because we didn’t see the point in spending the money.

We don’t have a football team at the top level because we won’t spend the money.

It’s all related. And in Wilder we have “Mr Sheffield” himself. A smashing working class lad who is as honest as the day is long and genuinely wants the best for us all. But he’s blighted by the Sheffield mentality and not wanting to spend money. So it’s only a matter of time before he fails really.

The Cconservatives haven't been in overall control of Leeds for forty years., Labour or no overall control. They haven't done too bad have they? It just must be the meaness of us dee dahs.

No starred restaurants in Manchester, one in Leeds btw.

McCabe and Jim have thrown their hats into the ring in the past, but Wilder has made fairly strong statements about what's happening and given the lack of back up from elsewhere, clubs involved, leaks, the media, we've been linked with hardly anyone, it rings hollow as of now.

Moore clearly not his first choice, nor Stearman it seems but the recruitment of a decent striker was paramount. Two permanents was a bit of a mantra.

It doesn't look like we've fucked it up. It looks like we haven't even bothered.
As ever it’s a litany of mixed messages & false promises, when will those responsible ever learn?

I’m not meaning to make a point about politics..although I understand my reference to socialism is bound to imply that.

It’s more a frustration with the local culture than politics. Don’t strive to be better. Don’t expect owt better and you won’t be disappointed. I hate that kind of negative thinking.

One good thing to come out of all this, is that loads of people who have only posted 3 or 4 times in 10 years have all decided to come back and post. Plus a few Wendy on here as well, adding to the mix, so, every cloud, and all that...

McCabe just has no idea how to take the club to the next level!!. He knows it costs money and yet time and time again over the last few years whenever a manager asks for money to spend?. The answer always seems to be fuck off and make do with what you’ve got!!. We’re blades so this doesn’t come as a shock to us anymore!.
Blades for life.

Not signing a younger striker was absolutely criminal, it was number one priority from day one of the transfer window.

We always knew we weren’t going to be able to compete in the market with a good chunk of the Championship so why did we bother after we knew the likes of Derby and Boro were in for Waghorn?

We have a budget and we always knew we weren’t going to spend big, so why not get in the market for players that fit that budget e.g. League One/Two, Premier League youngsters and the big one ABROAD!

If we can’t find a striker who is close to/similar ability as Clarke or Sharp that is under 25 with potential to improve then we might as well sack the entire scouting department.

That isn't just McCabe every Chairman/owner has said the same since the WW2 austerity years, it is in bred into SUFC culture now.

Very disappointed that most of the statements about signing players have come from Wilder himself. No one else.
I’m confused Sean, is it still, IWWT , and this is just a blip in his tenure. Or as he sold his soul to the devil.
I’m guessing in between him saying, 2 permanent, 2 loans, something’s gone on at board level. Fuk knows what though.

Maybe the prospect of actually spending some money became all too real and they pulled the plug at the last minute?
