Serious question: how does Hecky now build anything even remotely competitive? With N'Diaye as no.10, he was THE link between midfield and attack. He was both the creator and the goalscorer. Five minutes of preseason shows that. He has been an absolute cut above, he's looked hungry and sharp. Hecky now needs to find creativity and goals, on fuck all budget.
I am not angry with N'Diaye, but I am very sad with the situation and I will lament not seeing him grace the grandest stage of them all, and watching on with pride as we see his many, many qualities shine through. What a player, I'm tempted to list his attributes here, but we all know them. He is a generational talent, world class, Christ, he's a lifetime talent.
Tell you what this is, this is Villa losing Grealish. You know any sum will not adequately replace his unique contribution and his world class style. Except, we're getting just north of £13m, not £100m-ish and so we can't split the spending across 3-4 players designed to aid a rebuild. We've also left ourselves sod all time on which to do it.
This also isn't a knee-jerk response to the N'Diaye scenario unfolding. This is much bigger, and longer-term than that. Simply, the club's leadership has been shocking. Yes, we've largely toughened up in the transfer market, for a period - but we have no visible leadership in the media, no mouthpiece, just expecting Hecky to shoulder more than he should in interviews. I can just about accept losing a star player, but what I cannot accept is the SHOCKING mismanagement of the overall squad - in terms of limited to no budget, a reliance on loans, and no discernible overhaul of the key members of the squad. That much is way, way, way overdue. With no disrespect, Fleck, Osborn, and others should no longer be central to the main squad. The reinvestment has been appalling, embarrassing. The current number of players due to be out of contract next summer is absolutely and utterly inexcusable. We're now in real danger of being ill prepared for the championship next season.
The issues with sponsorship or poor kit manufacturing via Errea are the icing on a shitely made cake. Exceedingly shite. Mr. Kipling would be proud.
I am royally fucked off that, on the eve of joining the biggest league in the world, there is now fuck all optimism, excitement or anticipation. We have reached the premier league with fuck all to spend, and far too much to do. We are weaker than we came up, this time or last. I'd go as far as to say, I expect us to set new records/all time lows, for time in possession, chances created, goals scored and points accumulated.
Darren/El Accounto: you can run all the polls you want. Here's your feedback: expect grief from the fanbase and soon. Expect unrest, apathy, uproar, disillusionment.
It's coming, the ugliness is coming:
It may be a tired cliche, but believe me, we're tired of saying it: FUCKING SORT IT AHT YOONITED.
Prince: lower your asking price and clear off, give us time and chance to rebuild. We deserve better.
