They were more likely to be struck by lightening, or get a lottery win at the beginning of the season. Promotion is 'Roy of the Rovers', 'Billys Boots' and 'Billy the Fish' all rolled into one. But they deserved it and good luck to them. They will be the whipping boy, but they won't care.
(Cue many statements of 20/20 hindsight such as, 'Shows that you don't need money...', 'We should have got Holloway in for Blackwell...' etc etc...)

Give Blackwell until October to prove he is up to the job.
Didn't want to disappoint you DD![]()
Chairman'The Shutters are Down' McCabe has dropped a few very expensive clangers but it the manager who picks the team and dictates the style, or in our case non style, of how we play. Did a decent job to start with but thats it. Should have gone after the play off final. It was another BIG mistake from McCabe employing cheap as chips in the first place................but then again is McCabe the culprit?, yes its McCabe either for being a cheapskate or incompetent.

I dont get disappointed very often on here!
It is a remarkable achievement, and I do like Holloway, but he has come through adversity and failure to the mindset that he has today. He dropped lucky with Charlie Adam, (I know he would have hoped Adam settled in and did OK, but surely not in his wildest dreams did Ollie expect the impact he has had.) and to be fair, the rest of the squad were probably expecting little more than a relegation scrap. He's done what Warnock was good at, getting a team spirit going and achievied beyond the sum of its parts, which is pretty much the opposite of what he did to Leicester. Fair play to him.
What does all this prove? Simply that managers can be both successful and failures at different times of their career. They get too much praise when they are winning, and probably too much criticism when they are losing. Very few manage to achieve consistently. None of them are miracle workers. Good players, playing in a system they understand will deliver results. Injuries, loss of form and the biggest factor of all, what the opposition are doing, will all put spanners in the works. If you could write a formula for it, it wouldn't be worth watching...

Nice comment DD. A big part of "his" failure with Leicester was down to Mandaric employing 4 managers in one season, he walked into complete turmoil when he went there.
Anyone feel sorry for Fleety this weekend
I bet he is getting an ear bashing
Are you "Ashamed to be a Blade" a lot of the time BA?
