We have a quality Keeper

By Christmas, I predict that we'll all be claiming Cooper is better than Henderson was. He looks so assured and unflappable.

Because cooper wasn’t at a Cat 1 academy. Simple as that, there’s nothing else to it. Beadle is absolutely bomb scare, he’s fucking terrible. Rather stick George Long in the net for England, he’s genuinely better.
We haven’t really, in the grand scheme of things.
But even still it’s irrelevant, cooper came through at Plymouth

I was replying to your assertion that Cooper didn’t get an England call up, purely for the simple reason that he wasn’t at a Cat 1 academy?

I just merely pointed out that without having Cat 1 academy status ourselves, United have produced plenty of England youth internationals, including goalkeepers, during the exact same time frame.

I’d have thought that was quite a relevant observation, given your bold initial statement?

Compared to category 1 academy’s we have not produced many England youth players. Players at category 1 academy’s are not necessarily better, as proven by the amount of first teamers we produce, but have much more opportunity to be seen by international teams.

More importantly plymouths academy is category 3. For a category 3 player to play for England at youth level is incredibly rare.

Well that’s not what you said initially, but whatever, I think we can agree that a lack of youth international recognition hasn’t done his career any harm.
From his performances to date, I think he is the best keeper we’ve had at Bramall Lane since Alan Kelly.

In m view , it is too early to compare him with Alan Kelly who in my opinion was the best all round keeper we ever had , just shading it from Hodgy and Ted Burgin who as with Joe Shaw , was desperately unlucky not to win a full England cap.

Having said that , time may tell that your assessment turns out to be correct since every aspect of his performances so far have been extremely encouraging .

I think you are spot on. He’s off to a very encouraging start, but we’ve hardly seen anything of him yet.

As for the discussion about playing for England, I think there are two ways to do that - either get noticed at youth level and get into the system early, or show that you can do it for a club at the top level, where everything is put into the corners at fast pace. He’s missed the boat on the former. Let’s hope he can do the latter, and that he does it with us.

In the meantime, let’s just enjoy the experience of watching a commanding and highly competent keeper playing his part in the best defence we’ve had since Wilders first promotion to the Prem. it makes a lovely change from this time last year!

Not much to do tonight really despite their free kicks except for the good punched clearance, then he pulls off that outstanding save near the end to give us all the points. That's the sign of a top keeper and I'm convinced that's just what we've got. He looks an absolute steal.
