We have a problem with Cooper

The mood swings of fans are incredible.

Saw a few fans saying we needed to sell him only a month ago.
Fans are fickle, debate is all too often binary and nuance doesn’t exist.

Cooper was both outstanding last season and objectively dreadful this season. The balanced view surely acknowledges he’s a very talented GK but also massively out of form, likely driven by an unnamed factor (injury the most prominent rumour).

It also stands to reason that if the lack of form turned into the long term norm then Coopers position as a Championship No1 would be untenable.

I hope and suspect we’ll see a continuation of his uptick in form over the last few games, and we can all look forward to posts touting him as Englands No1 🙃

With little chance of play-offs/going down, it will be good for Cooper to get his operation/treatment done over the summer so he's 100% fit for next season. Still maintain despite his good performances recently, there is something not quite right with him.

Definitely something wrong with him - back issue? Genuinely do believe he’s a top keeper, but it’s sad to see how he’s performed this term compared to last season.

Should have palmed it away but spilled it in shitty conditions. It happens.

Look fine with catches or high reflex saves, can't seem to get low quickly anymore (or kick properly). Bit weird. Not sure if there's an injury that would cause that.

Looked very slow to get down for the first - not many keepers would have saved it, but he still looked very slow.

He's still absolutely awful with his feet and simply cannot kick a ball moving towards him. I've never seen anyone shank it as consistently as he does. There was one awful shank early on from a moving ball followed by another shank for their second goal. He needs to be replaced in the summer.

Has been out worst player this season, but it's tough for him because he can't hide as a keeper and won't be dropped.

I don't think he was to blame for our defeat tonight.

Boro gave a really good team performance both going forward and covering back.

But, with a little bit of luck.....

He made some good saves tonight but he’s still way off his best. Really hesitant to come off his line and his kicking has got worse. He can barely clear his own half now and seems to slice it.

Some suicidal passing from him today, not just the mid-kicks, but just passing directly to their man. That said, their second was a spozzy goal, rebound goes exactly where their only striker is waiting, and I don’t think it’s his fault.

I would agree his kicking is pretty terrible and him and Bindon on the ball under pressure is giving me Robinson-level flashbacks! That said though, is it just me that thinks the quality of the turf in and around the area (particularly Kop end), looks quite poor? Seems to be quite cut up and bobbly which can't help with his confidence in kicking under pressure

The second goal happens because Cooper shanked the clearance to their man
