All those injured top players absent and 2 subs used but we still had 5 very good players unused on the bench. That's one measure of the job Wilder and Knill have done this past year or so.

We played with style. Wednesday had 63% of the possession but we had most of the serious chances to score. We outmanouvered the master tactician Carlos who always talks about shape and control in his strict system which often demands caution and safety first in terms of possession and sacrifices forward pressure in favour of being secure at the back. He loves a 1-0 win and it is often achieved at the expense of entertainment and excitement.Yesterday they had 63% possession and we picked them off at will almost.

Yesterday we had control of the game for all but 20 minutes and that only because we were slightly asleep right at the end of the 47th minute of the first half. If that excellent poacher's goal by Hooper had not gone in Wednesday would not likely have preserved any self respect whatsoever nor would we have enjoyed the day quite as much. What absolute joy to see Duffy score one of the best ever Derby goals at the moment he did. It was one of those goals that will be in our memory for the rest of our lives, no matter how young or old you are.

Style, control, composure, flair, skill, pace, discipline, organisation, togetherness. We were 'up for the local Derby' alright but we weren't the ones trying ( and failing) to kick bits out of the opposition. We weren't the ones hoofing it upfield and trying to be physical. We were up for it mentally and our team applied itself to the game plan and showed with confidence that they all believed they would win in style. This was not about levelling the playing field by underdog tactics. We didn't 'park the bus' or rely on set pieces, far, far from it.

We played a style and method of football that was as exhilerating as it was practical and as sophisticated as Sheffield has seen for years and years. Wednesdayites will have been shocked to the core and over the 96 minutes the 'gap' was so great yesterday that many of them on radio and social media have held their hands up and acknowledged that the best team by a Sheffield Street won the game. Fair play to them for that, whilst it was stating the obvious, it took balls to acknowledge it although maybe it was a way for some to put pressure on the club for a managerial change.

We certainly have momentum and togetherness as a club. Nothing in life is there for the taking though and Wilder will keep feet well and truly on the ground. Work hard - play hard, old school honesty, commitment and loyalty. Not much can go too far wrong with that -can it?!
