We badly missed Hanson today .

Totally agree, our fans slag off Hanson for his limited talent
But he was exactly the tight oh striker that would have caused the Norwich centre halfs some real problems.
Norwich sat back defending in numbers, this match was Taylor made for him.

Almost a carbon copy of our last league loss at home .

It's games like this where we desperately needed to mix things up and make a mess of their well drilled back lines . Hanson gives us this option and boy did we need him today .

Well he couldnt have done any worse

We had five strikers missing today, he would still have been my 5th choice out of all of um.

Hanson up front on his own against Wednesday - you know it makes sense. Never been so convinced of anything in my life.

We knew we lacked strength and aerial ability up front today, hence almost every cross was low and hard. After Norwich scored they were happy to defend deep, concentrating on clearing and blocking theballs we put into the box. We looked a bit predictable with our final pass.

This was becoming a problem for us last season, but Hanson came in and helped making the opposition's deep defending tactics ineffective with his physical presence.

We don't know if a stronger centre forward would have helped today, but it's an option we just didn't have. At the end we told Basham to go forward, but he struggled to make an impact.

i think most people have already written hanson off but he's a decent option to have.

couldn't help but notice beavers won every header against clarke on tuesday night, hanson bullied beavers out of the game at the lane last season.

Hanson could cause a lot of damage this season given the chance. There's no way any defender in the championship would look forward to facing a striker like that.

Can't see him being first choice striker but from the bench he could cause havoc, a latter day Chief if you like.

I completely agree with the OP. It was crying out for someone to rough up their two CBs today, particularly when we had them pinned back into their penalty area. Ched tried his best but was fighting a losing battle.
Clarke or Donaldson would have also caused similar problems.

Totally agree, said same thing to my brother.

I'm probably one of Hanson's biggest critics.

But i was the same, turned to my mate and said to him that we actually needed someone like Hanson. The amount of decent crosses we put in and nobody was anywhere near the end of any of 'em.

Agreed we needed a target man Option. Just needs to be better than Hanson going forward. That said I hope he's for next week as we need him now

To answer the opening post - a 100% NO.

We wouldn't have had 68% possession if we had gone long to Hanson - plus, he doesn't win a high percentage either.

We play possession football - generally on the grass.

We missed a presence up front - we didn't miss Hanson.

Agreed - or a Championship level version of Hanson. We needed a plan B, just to mix it up a bit and if Hanson had been fit, I'd have got him on the pitch.
