Notts County despite being 2nd bottom in the league are doing better!

On recent form ( last 6 league games ) we all know we are much improved but so are Notts County in all fairness, they like us are right up there in the form table in fact for what they have picked up in these last 6 games on paper they are 5th in the form table compared to our 10th but fear not there isn't a great deal of difference.

5th = Notts County W3 D1 L2 GD +7 Pts 10
10 = Sheffield United W2 D3 L1 Pts +2 Pts 9

As you can see all they have done is won that extra game but then again we have lost one less than them in overall form, as you can see though if we consider ourselves to be "much improved" then you have to consider Notts County the same and give them some much deserved credit and respect.

They like us seem to be growing in confidence under a new gaffer and anyway I guess we just need to look at this as the tough game that it will be, not only is it somewhat a bottom of the league battle but weirdly one between two teams enjoying an upturn in form.

The Villa performance and enjoyment has to be put on the shelf now because this is a completely different kettle of fish and a fresh tough test, we can't take it for granted.

Interesting post highpeakblade. Coincidentally I was talking to someone on here today and the exact same point was raised. Yes, it could be a banana skin, but I imagine that applies to every game. We've shown gradual improvement since NC was appointed, and understandably most people are comparing the improvement to what happened under Weir. What I would add is that for my money there's a better all round sense of something happening under Clough, he seems to have got to grips with what needs to be done and is already making plans for the next 18 months.

We all pontificate, nothing wrong with that, what's the point of a forum after all? But you've made some valid points mate, and anyone who thinks that beating Villa means that County are a foregone conclusion is deluding themselves. I've no doubt once the players have come down from the buzz of beating Villa Clough and his team will make sure that the players are aware of their responsibilities. Between now and the end of this season there'll be ups and downs for the Blades, and NC's learning curve will continue about who's worth keeping at the club. As we've been told, the summer will bring the change in personnel that Clough believes will increase this club's chances of promotion next season, but first we need to keep our feet on the ground and secure our place in this division. This seems to have been Clough's mantra from day one, so I wouldn't expect anything less from someone as realistic as our manager.

They do seem to be doing well under Derry. Should be a good game on Saturday. Got my ticket today, can't wait.

3-1 Blades ;)
