Watched the incident on BBC last night that lead to the ref awarding a penalty and have replayed it several times. What was it for? Couldnt see what Monty did that made the ref award WBA a penalty. A twit reporter in the Sunday Mirror said Ward gave away the penalty!

Looked one of the softest I've seen in ages, certainly didn't look like a handball. Was there one that should have been given earlier that he was 'correcting' for?

Monty was stood near one of their players who may have got a small touch on the ball with his hand (looked like it in real time).

Yesterday, this meant free kick to WBA, being in the area it was therefore a penalty.

That is of course ignoring the blatent foul in the build up to this incident.

Having seen thousands of football matches I can quite easily say it was the daftest decision i've ever seen. Not surprised in the slightest that he levelled it up as ours looked soft to me but I'd like to see it again.

A penalty can only be given if it is a deliberate hand ball. I can't see how it could of been.

Summary of the incident after watching it 7 times;

- Monty has two opportunities to take possession of and clear the ball
- Monty gives the ball back to Dorrans twice
- Monty's hand touches Dorrans' arm
- The ball isnt remotely near anyone's hand

Instead of allowing play to continue like any human being with a pair of eyes would.....the referee uses his one existing brain cell to award a penalty

In short - he either invented something he didnt see or it was deliberate cheating for the home side. There is a simple philosophy to follow for refereeing......'If you cant see it, you cant give it' and as it didnt happen, he cant have seen it!!! :confused:

The thing what gets me here is that no West Brom players appeal for the penalty. I've attached a picture (apologies for size and poor quality, but it was the only thing I could get to load up) which shows the secne immediately after the so called 'handball'. This is one secnd or so after the incident and no one is applealing. Look, there are 4 West Brom players there and not one of them is appealing.

Dorrans belatedly and half heartedly appeal for handball after he has lost the ball. The rest of the West Brom players seems as surprised as everyone else that the referee has just gifted them ...... the game essenitally!!??

Never a penalty. Absolute robbery! I've no major qualms as we got beaten by the better team. however, this kind of decision is infuriating.

On a slight tangent: Anyone think that the ref gave our penalty to make up for this one? It seemed a little soft on their part.
