A few observations from the stats:

- let’s start with the positives, the two players with most positive statistical contributions were Hamer (no surprise, with most shots, most key passes, joint most tackles, joint most crosses, even most interceptions) and Brewster (second most shots, joint most dribbles, second most crosses and a vital goal!). Hamer’s suspension is a real blow.

- Peck (aside from a rash unnecessary slide tackle) had a very influential games, with most successful defensive interventions (joint most tackles, joint most clearances, second most interceptions etc) and one of only two of our starting players to have a pass completion rate over 80%. At a tine when we were weak in centre mid over the past few games, his contribution has been invaluable. His partner in the first half, Burrows, despite being asked to play out of position had most crosses, second most key passes, and took his penalty well.

- defensively, it seems a simple split between our full backs (shocking) and centre backs (strong). Gilchrist had the lowest overall stats, with just two successful defensive contributions, closely followed by RND (who was lucky to stay on, and arguably caused Hamer’s yellow). This can be compared to Seriki who in 45 mins contributed second most aerial duels won, joint second most tackles, an assist etc.

- offensively it was probably O’Hares least influential game (no shots, no key passes, no successful dribbles) with only 19 touches of the ball (compared to Hamers 63) beaten to the bottom by Brooks (16 touches, with no shots, no crosses and no key passes).

- a more general point, our pass completion rate was much lower than usual, despite playing against 10 men for 40 mins. Only two players over 80% pass completion is very poor.

- a last comment on the ref, who hadn’t given a red card or a penalty all season until last night. Both were right.

We are back on top (for now!) with new players arriving and other coming back from injury, so despite a dodgy first half performance there is lots to be happy about!

When you say most touches /shots or whatever.. Are you looking at both teams or just stats for us.

Just for us. But for comparison only one Swan (Cullen) had fewer touches than Brooks, and although three Swans had more touches than Hamer, no Swan had as many shots or key passes as Hamer did.

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks, but I think that is at least the third time an opponent has received a straight red as a result of a challenge on Brewdog? Hidden value!?!

Although Campbell looked terrific when he came on - and made a big difference. Presume his stats were pretty good too.

I agree Campbell's impact was very positive (including winning the penalty!) but he may be a good example where the stats don't tell the full story - and I am always clear that stats always have their limitations. For example he had one shot, one dribble, no crosses, no aerial duels won - when he actually played a vital role in turning the game in our favour

There's at least 2 previous occasions he's got an opposition player sent off from turning the last man and getting pulled back.

Did play a really good ball across the box that O'Hare was inches away from tapping in as well, later on probably should have played him in rather than shooting after putting their defender on his arse but most strikers would have tried to get a shot away like he did rather than pass the ball, on another day he'd score that chance.

Glad we got 45/50 minutes out of Campbell though in preparation for Friday and Cannon coming in.
