United moved back to the top of the table after an exciting 2-2 draw at a windy and rainy Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon in the final Championship fixture of the weekend. As with their previous game on the road, the Blades never really got going from the off and the Baggies were in the ascendancy from the start and deservedly led via a header from Torbjorn Heggem after poor marking. The visitors turned it around though with two quick fire goals from Callum O’Hare and Tyrese Campbell after excellent work from Harrison Burrows. The Blades lost Campbell to an injury just after he could have made it three and West Brom got level as a looping shot from Tom Fellows deflected into the net. After this it was frenetic and both teams could have won it although the Baggies ended the game in the ascendancy and in the end, the Blades will be pleased with a point.

There was just one change with Seriki in for the suspended Souttar and Gilchrist moving inside. United were without both normal starting centre backs. Former Blade loanee Mason Holgate did not make the starting line up as West Brom started with both leading scorer Maja and Grant in a side that had struggled recently for goals and points.

Johnson went past Seriki and Grant won a corner. Furlong met it but his effort was blocked by Peck in the first significant moment of the game as United’s defence got blocked off. The home side were certainly the most energetic of the two sides and Robinson had to be alert to deny Fellows after United were slow the ball in the middle of the field. The Blades were really sluggish, which was reminiscent of their last game on the road at Coventry and were seeing very little of the ball. The Baggies got down the left again and the ball bounced around before being cleared as no one could get the vital touch as Robinson again did well.

United continued to cough up the little of the ball they had as West Brom were swarming all over the visitors and Johnson had an effort straight at Cooper. United finally mounted an attack on the quarter hour mark but Campbell could not get on the ball through from Hamer. Stiles then was set away down the left and Seriki was a long way out of position and his cross shot was not far off Grant. Fellow cross looped up and Cooper poached it as the pressure continued to be one way. Cooper then had to help a deflected cross over as the home side continued to dominate. It was not a surprise when the opening goal came as HEGGEM cam across Souza and headed into the bottom corner. It had been one way traffic and United looked completely asleep in all aspects of the game.

West Brom continued to control things and Grant had a shot from range that Cooper saved as the Blades lethargic showing continued with half an hour played and the away side not creating a single opportunity or attack of note. They did win a corner as Seriki and Rak Sayki finally got up the other end of the field.

Rak Sayki then was booked for simulation after he exchanged passed and came together with Molumby but there was no contact and was the right decision. Hamer then was played in by Campbell but his shot was blocked as he tried to find a response as United finally offered something of note. The response did come when Burrows was played in down the left and his ball was not cleared and ricocheted for O’HARE who was on the spot to turn it home.

It was two in quick succession as a lovely team goal saw the Blades incredibly turn it around. Hamer was involved in the build up and played it wide left for the advancing Burrows and his cross was perfect for CAMPBELL to turn home and the Blades were in the lead after a performance where they had not been in the game.

Peck then curled over after more good work from Hamer down the left as United now were looking a completely different side after not being in the game. Robinson could not clear as Molumby smashed the ball over on the rebound. Hamer was booked for a late challenge by the dug out on Furlong as the game moved into two additional minutes. There was no real incidents as United went in with the lead after being second best much of the game, similar to the most recent away game at Coventry.

The second half saw Seriki win a corner and as it came back inside Rak Sayki headed across goal when maybe he could have gone for goal. At the other end Gilchrist was booked for a clear foul as he denied Fellows as he came towards the D. It was poor defending and gave West Brom a great opportunity from the dead ball.

Mowatt took it and hit the wall and Robinson was able to clear. Hamer’s lovely nutmeg saw him play in Campbell and his shot was pushed round by Palmer as the ball looked to nestled into the far corner. United had a decent spell with Rak Sakyi getting into good areas and he and Campbell nearly linked but the striker seemed to pull up. He had been feeling his hamstring and he had to depart with One having to come on to replace him.

West Brom were level after Peck failed to control the ball great work from Johnston saw him nutmeg Seriki and play in FELLOWS who drive inside and his shot hit Robinson and looped up and over into the corner as Cooper struggled to get back in vain. United had control of the game for the first time so would have been disappointed to concede.

The game was not end to end. Rak Sayki was pulled back and grabbed the ball but incredibly was not given the decision before Peck was then pulled back as the game threatened to boil over with a few testy challenges both ways. At one end West Brom nearly got in through Johnston after he went past Seriki but United cleared and Rak Sayki ran down the right but his shot lacked power. The winger then gave the ball away and West Brom won a free kick after Peck’s careless foul. The ball came in and it dropped to Grant’s shot head Maja. It was poor marking. Johnston then nearly got in again as West Brom continued to cause problems down the flanks. West Brom were not looking the more likely as the game entered the final 15 minutes.

Rak Sayki was taken off for Brewster but it was the home side continued to press. Twice Johnston had opportunities and had one shot blocked and another over before after Brewster finally seemed to tackle himself, the Baggies won a corner. Furlong headed wide from a corner but O’Hare gave United a breather as Heggem brought him down. Burrows wasted the free kick and lofted it straight to Palmer.

The game became end to end as West Brom broke but then United came after it was adjudged that Grant had not been fouled but Brewster’s shot as the Blades broke was straight at Palmer. West Brom then won a corner as Fellows cross was chipped in and turned around by Seriki. This was his last action as he was replaced by Shackleton. O’Hare also went off for Norrington Davies. Maja and Johnson was replaced by Cole and Swift as the game entered the final 5 minutes.

Brewster coughed up possession and Peck had to bring his man down as West Brom broke. Swift then played in Grant and he drove at Shackleton but his cross was away from everyone. The game entered stoppage time with four minutes to be played. Souza’s soft foul gave West Brom a free kick in the last minute but Racic fired a long way over as the ball dropped and this was the final opportunity of the game. In the end, the Blades had been behind, but then led but will take the draw that continues their unbeaten run. With reinforcements to come in Ahmedhodzic, Souttar and Moore then the Blades will hopefully be stronger in the coming weeks but face another tough game, on the road at Millwall where they will need to start the game better than this one and hope their undoubted quality can come through.

United – Missing both centre backs and with no Arblaster or Moore, it was almost half a side from our strongest team so definitely would have taken a draw from the start – as I said at Coventry. The game played out in a similar fashion with us not starting at all, off the pace and looking half asleep as the home team dominated and deservedly led. We were poor on and off the ball and just sat off and invited pressure. We almost invited the home side on. It was odd and as we sat off and did not press, the few times we had the ball, we seemed to just pump it forward. We looked a long way off a side at the top and the new right side of the defence as badly exposed as they played on Seriki and Gilchrist. We were not able to get in the game at all and they had a few half chances before they scored. Like at Coventry, it was bad marking as Souza seemed to lose his man this time and they headed in. It had been coming though and they could have had a goal before that with several crosses and shots coming in. After this we woke up and scored two good goals – the first a little lucky how it fell but Hamer and Burrows very good in the set up and even better in the second goal which was a lovely team move goal. After this the confidence raised and Peck before the half and then Campbell after had chances and thought we had control. The Campell injury seemed to throw us off our stride but the leveller sort of came out of nothing as Peck’s loose touch saw them break and Seriki got ran past and then we did not press. I thought Cooper was a bit slow but like with our first, was a bit lucky where it ended up.

After this I sensed with the lack of options and youngsters we had out there, it would be tough to win it and we did not have many clear chances but did have lots of good breaks but made poor choices. They did seem the more likely with Johnston a constant threat and they had chances down both sides as they continued to get us one on one in wide areas. I thought we were at full stretch and with better choices from them, they would have maybe won it. In the end, a draw was about right. It was a good game for a contest played in horrible weather. I think with the lack of depth (they are putting on Swift and we are putting on Shackleton to make the point) and injuries/suspensions, it’s a good point though and one we definitely will take. I thought after the first 20 minutes, we were not going to get anything but then after we turned it around had chances to go on and put it away. They then ended up stretching us and were causing us problems. I think at the moment we are showing real quality in brei spells of games and that is enough but the actual performances, especially away are a bit ragged an we have done well to get draws at Coventry and West Brom when the home sides will say they created more and had more territory overall. We just seem a bit disjointed but decent sides get results and keep runs going even when they are not at their best. Hopefully with some players back we can start to improve the consistency in games and we can also start games better. We saw some of the youngsters it was a bit of a struggle at times today I felt and they did not have the same impact they have had in games at the Lane.

Still, we now have another hard away game and again I’d take a draw and then have two better fixtures in Plymouth and Cardiff, two strugglers, before the two home games over Xmas where things will be different at Bramall Lane even against good sides. As I say, we will have a few back but worrying that Campbell might be out for a bit now, and with One not having an impact today and Brewster looking miles off it, we have few options at the top of the field. Still, we saw some of the excellent individual performances from the likes of Hamer, O’Hare and Burrows and with those players we can always have a chance in games, even if we are off our best.

Ratings:

Cooper 5.5/10 – Has certainly had more to do in the last few games with the changes in defence as we have not looked as solid. Had to make a number of saves early on even though all were regulation he was not really protected like he has been most of his time here. The goal he has little chance in a crowd of bodies. The second goal I think he needs to do better and for once was slow to react and as soon as it looped up. I think by his high standards he will be disappointed as he seemed a bit stuck? Maybe that is harsh but my initial reaction – this is where his lack of inches might be a factor in terms of teams looking at him? After this a few crosses/shots bounced in and he was the busier to end the game.

Seriki 4/10 – Thought it would be a big test and a harder game with it being an away game and having more to do defensively. They seemed to target this side and with JRS not really helping, got a lot of joy and Johnston had a fair bit of space. Quite a few crosses and balls came in as Gilchrist also was leaving a big gap. He did finally get up the field more after the first 25-30 mins and had a part in some of our attacks as we got back in it. Second half he had a good spell to start with but then they started to come at us after they levelled. He really struggled but was given no help and they kept coming at us. Should not have been left one on one so much but had a difficult afternoon.

Burrows 7/10 – Was pushed back to begin with and some sloppy touches/backpasses but then he got going the other way and he was involved in many of our attacks that led to us turning it round. Put in balls for both goals, with the first dropping a bit fortunately but the second was an absolute gem and on a plate for Campbell. He is a real threat attacking wise with this quality on his left foot. Second half saw little from him on the attacking sense as they came at us more. Two or three dreadful set plays gave them the ball back and not the same impact second half but gets a good grade for his impact on both goals.

Gilchrist 5/10 – Bit of a struggle as Grant and Maja imposed themselves but they had little protection in front and the ball was coming at us too easily. He looked a bit slow to react and not sure positionally he got in great areas but did get a few blocks in. I thought it became a struggle after the break as they came at us more and he picked up a yellow card and they started to run behind us. The gap continued between him and the right back and they had so much space. He seemed to really struggle with the physical aspect of the game and thought he was stuck in the mud almost as they got away from him. He kept plugging away but I am not sure he is tall enough to be an orthodox centre half despite people saying that is his position?

Robinson 5.5/10 – Bit of a wild first half with a number of good blocks and clearances but some awful hacks and punts forward as you saw how we probably don’t appreciate ball playing of Souttar and Anel. He is a bit no nonsense and can be clumsy. Second half scrapped and fought but we did not win enough of the balls coming in and we did not look as tight defensively

Souza 5.5/10 – Not his usual self in terms of controlling midfield and pressing with it and felt they completely controlled midfield to start and had so much space with no pressure on the ball from him, Peck and the forward players. He also was slow on the goal and seemed to be his man as he did not get across to even put him off. He did start to see more of it and we finally got up the field and of course then turned it round before the half. After the break he seemed to tire and maybe the game he has played and the miles he has put in had an impact as thought he looked quite leggy and not the impact he has had in other games.

Peck 6/10 – As with Souza quiet to begin with and we did not engage in terms of pressing or getting around them and lost the loose balls and headers/drops in the middle of the field and in turn they moved it wide and got at us. We just seemed to sit off but then the goal gave us life and we score another and suddenly we look the aggressor. He had a shot over where he maybe should have done better. On their leveller he is guilty of losing the ball but a lot happened after that. He kept plugging away and a few decent touches, runs but a few where he was loose. I thought he was better than Souza today actually but we never had control of midfield really other than maybe 10 mins before half time and 10 after?

Rak Sayki 4.5/10 – Non existent to start really as he did not get back to help Seriki and also was not on the ball and got crowded out. Got booked when he did finally got on it and was a yellow for a clear dive but then he started to find some space and gaps as we had some attacks down both sides. Should have had a foul when his shirt was pulled but when he grabbed it, thought he might get sent off with the referee having the game he was having! He had a few runs but his finishing/final ball was poor. Had a header and also then had a shot. He did not do the defensive side at all today and that is why his mark is so low as left Seriki badly exposed.

O’Hare 7/10 – Not involved to start with as we were defending but did not get amongst them to stop the ball coming out either. He just struggled to get into it but eventually he was on the spot to score the finish from close range and had another goal and then was busy and involved in a few other decent moves. Seemed to grow from here and he was probably our outstanding player, just above Hamer. Busy, got his foot in, linked well, carried it and did loads of good defensive work. Been critical of him this season but recently he has really improved and was very good today and gave a nature performance.

Hamer 7/10 – Thought he was our main bright spark even from the start as he looked to get on the ball and make things happen even if we were second best. Involved in the better attacks we did have after we finally awoke from our slumber. Had one shot blocked, then was involved in both the goals I think, with the second a lovely ball to Burrows. Another unnecessary booking. Lovely nutmeg second half that led to the Campbell chance. He is the one player where you think something might happen when he gets it but also he can make the wrong choice too. He showed some sublime touches and most of our good moves come from him but he needs to be more clinical with his final pass at times – although the goals showed when he gets it right he can be so important.

Campbell 6.5/10 – Quiet and behind the ball to start the game as it came back at us but gradually after living off scraps he started to find more of the ball and he was able to link a few times. The second goal was a superb finish, not that it was hard but got past his man and in the right area to turn it home – which he has done a few times. Had a shot saved second half but had been holding his hamstring before the half and then it seemed to go after the break. We looked a different team after he went off and hope it is not a proper pull as he will be out till after Xmas if so.

Subs -

One 4/10 – Not really in the game and found it a struggle against an experienced centre back in One. Needed to show more for it and did not even really put himself and did not get to the pace of the ball. After Campbell went off, we had little threat at the top.

Brewster 2/10 – Appalling. He tackled himself. Twice. Gave them the ball at least three times and then just looked for fouls. Looked miles off the pace and standard needed for a side going for promotion. Yes, he has just come back but if that was a young kid, we would be going mad and saying he cannot even complete a simple piece of control or pass. Set them on the attack three times. Won a free kick and had one shot but that was easy but at least had a go. Almost like a fan put on the pitch at this stage – or a parody. He is beyond bad and those saying he just needs a run of games – really? I would send him out on loan in January and rather see if we can sign someone else as viable competition.

Shackleton – Thought he would be put on to help Seriki but given the right back slot. He was beaten by Grant down the side but hard game to get into and they had runners down the side.

Norrington Davies- Not sure saw much of him other than one clearance away.

Manager: Wilder 6.5/10 – It’s a draw on the road to a side fancied to be near the playoffs so will take that and especially with a depleted back line. I also think that considering how we started, he will be pleased to just get out with something although that might be tempered with the fact we led and had chances either side of the break. I do think we need to arrest these poor and lethargic starts on the road. It seems like it takes us ages to get going in games.

West Brom – Always seem to be in around the playoff most seasons and this seems to be the case again this year. They do have a decent manager and some quality across the side but lack consistency and goals to properly contend for the top two and will be the case again this season I feel. They have barely conceded any and along with us and Burnley, seem to be three rock solid sides defensively but they have not scored enough and have drawn too many games. They have dropped off recently and Maja, who has been prolific, has not scored as many goals so they have struggled to win games. I like Corberan and feel he always speaks well too. I do wonder if he will eventually get a Premier League job but then recent times WBA fans been a bit critical and say they have not been the most exciting to watch when you look at the goal records and how few goals are going in.

I look at them and think they will be again around 5th- 9th (with a few others like Norwich etc) and may get again, may not but not sure they have the same quality/consistency top of the pitch as the big sides. Today they played really well for 20 mins, dominated the ball and were the better side as they won midfield. They will have been frustrated after leading, that they did not sustain it and lost two sloppy goals where they were ran past down their right hand side. After this they seemed to lost the complete control that they had. When they levelled, thought it was a bit out of the blue but after this they seemed more likely but as the home team and against a side with a number of players missing, they will be frustrated to draw again. They looked decent at times going forward but they were poor at the back – odd as this has been the opposite of the blueprint most of the season.

Opponent Man of the Match – Johnston was a player we were linked with and you could see why. He was very good and most of their good play came from him although was a bit wasteful with a few opportunities. He has good pace and decent on the ball though. Fellows was decent too and a decent midfielder.

Opponent Weak link – Furlong takes a sizeable long throw but he was really poor and not close enough to Burrows on the two goals. Indeed he and Seriki were the two defenders that struggled the most in the game. The centre backs got pulled about a fair bit too. Maja was quiet also but they had a few others who were lively running with the ball.

Referee/Officials – David Webb. Another incredibly poor and fussy referee who thought it was all about him. 6 yellow cards (4 for us) and whilst some of these were deserved as lots of shirt pulling (missed the one from JRS though) he was just so frustrating. He kept blowing his whistle and for a spell second half he gave them so many fouls for barely any contact. They just fell over and he gave it. He just kept blowing his whistle and it was beyond frustrating. We seem to be watching referees who are simply too involved, too busy stopping play and he was the embodiment of this. He gave them some poor decisions too, so it was not just down to him being poor one way really. Sure there fans would have the same frustration if you asked them but it did seem we had several breaks and played pulled back/took out and he never went back and booked them -the fact they had two bookings is incredible really as they were as cynical as us in the game!

Wow, invariably I used to read your reports and be surprised how often they mirrored my own thoughts. What happened this season? You whinge after pretty much every game, your marks are ridiculously low and rather than an insightful report, you come across as really bitter for some reason.

I don't see that at all, don't always agree with Deadbad, but his comments are balanced and fair.

Harsh, don’t think the marks were far away. What would yours have been?

Absolute rubbish

Brewster as profile pic. Enough said.

bit too l'équipe. Thought the conditions were shite.

I'll take a point at WBA with most of the spine of our team out with injury and suspension. At the moment I think we are grinding results out rather than playing well most of the time. We badly need some reinforcements in January or we could fall off the pace.

Wah wah wah, I don't like what you've written.

Bogie bum.

I was more generous towards Seriki, largely because of the lack of support, but his positioning is highly suspect. There was a break early second half where Johnstone had half the pitch to himself and Seriki was completely out of position. He's done really well this season but that is an aspect of his game which needs a lot of work.

CW's post match comments reflect what a lot of us may have been thinking pre match that we would dip today with a small make shift defence. His delight at getting a point and his pride in the 6 aged 21 and under players finishing the game was valid. There was an undercurrent of " I need backing in the JTW" and rightly so.

Agree it was another stuttering performance away from home but taking into account the conditions, a defence that didn't have a player taller than 5 foot 11 and once again a useless ref it was a point well earned. Seriki discovered what Gilchrist has put up with most of the season that JRS does not track back enough. First time crosses into the box got us back into the game. Wish we would do it more often rather than opt to overplay on the edge of the box. The subs did make us weaker but that reflects how thin the squad is. Surprised we didn't opt to bring on McCallum for his aerial ability.

Campbell has a back injury and may be fit for Wednesday. CW said Moore is back along with Anel and Souttar. On that point our first choice centre backs must start against the Wall, our lack of inches was exposed today at the back. Agree Cooper could and should have done better with the second goal although they had a player stood virtually on the goal line which may have distracted him.

Hard to criticise any of the younger players in the circumstances but agree Brewster was poor. The run of games being cited to get him up to speed has to take place in the U21s. We can't afford players coming off the bench not match sharp. We still have half a dozen matches to play before the transfer window opens and have to keep grinding out results. Onto the Wall.

I thought Rak Sakyi was really poor today. Absolute rubbish tracking back and poor going forwards. I'd have hooked him at HT just for that ridiculous dive which leaves him one mistimed tackle from a red card, having said that not much chance of that when you don't put a tackle in all game. Those dives don't work in the Championship he needs to stay on his feet. I'm sure Wilder will be in his earole tonight.

I think his reports are pretty much spot on. We may be top of the table but this season wreaks of our promotion season under Hecky. We are largely poor in matches, slow to get started and we have a 20 minute spell where we look great. We win games without looking convincing. We were fantastic against Oxford, but they poor on the whole.

Many players get heaped with praise on this forum when in reality they're over rated, Rak-Sakyi being one. He is one of the most wasteful players on the ball and his decision making is baffling, often coming inside to take on two or three players when there is an open option on the over lap, and yet many on here harp on about him.

O'Hare on the other hand often gets criticised because of expectations surrounding his previous partnership with Hamer. Despite an end product not always being there he is one of the hardest working players in the team, albeit not hugely influential (except for today where he was excellent throughout). Rak-Sakyi gets praise whilst O'Hare gets criticised.

Deadbat is pretty much spot on even when he's critical as he reviews the match from an unbiased point of view as best as he can. I thought his scores were pretty fair today.

Agree on the JRS v O 'Hare. The former really did not help Seriki and left him on an island but Seriki's one on one defending was poor today even with little help.

O'Hare was our best player and his work rate and play on the ball was very good.

A few observations from the stats:

- Hamer remains our pivotal offensive link, with twice as many key passes as anyone else and most successful dribbles. Having had some ineffective games O’Hare is slowly becoming a bit more of a star, with most shots, third most tackles - and another goal. And Campbell is becoming more than just a great goal scorer, with 2 key passes and even a tackle.

- Burrows again stands out, with most crosses (5 next best 1), most clearances, third most tackles etc. and considering how short in stature our defenders are, we won more aerial duels than I expected (Burrows with 3), and with the sides matched at 12 duels each.

- Vini had most successful tackles (as always) and a 96% pass accuracy rate. Peck’s figures again look a little below par, with no tackles, no interceptions, and a pass accuracy rate of only 70%. Arb is badly missed.

All in all, we were more competitive than I feared, and aside from an unlucky deflection, could have won. A good point.

Yeah the last three away games, Bristol, Cov and WBA...all mid table we have arguably been 2nd best in all 3 and remained unbeaten. That shows a lot about our attitude but also worries me we can't keep that going although the rub is we might start playing better.

The positive is after Millwall, Watford & Sunderland away games, next 3 outside Cardiff, we only have Burnley away out of all the current half the rest should not be as hard in theory (I don't count the Pigs!)

If we can stay around the pace by Jan and then bring in 2 or 3 in Jan (right down the spine- CB (although I still think we heed a right back as ultimately see weaknesses in both Seriki and Gilchrist),a box to box midfielder and a pacy forward.

Souttar and Anel both deserve to be rated for this game with a 0

Two stupid sendings off that probably cost us the first goal

We were literally asleep for the first 30 mins , just could not string 2 passes together and resorted to booting upfield to Campbell which is never gonna work !
JRS not helping Seriki and of course Johnston is a great winger so they were firing in crosses for fun - in fact in both wings we hardly stopped either winger crossing.
I called this out on the match thread and got buried under accusations of "moaning" by others who don't actually say anything themselves about the poor performance.
Then , we suddenly remember how to play and get 2 fabulous crosses from Burrows leading to 2 goals.
But bad luck takes Campbell off and in terrible conditions against a good side we are relying on a promising but inexperienced 18yr old to get us forward.
That becomes the last straw and we don't manage much thereafter.
Significant that One gets on before Brewster , so CW reckons the latter is his last option for striker.
The number of enthusiastic but relatively inexperienced youngsters left on the pitch tells you that we are unlikely to get autos without some serious reinforcements in January.
Another 4 yellows today and we must get hold of our discipline , which saw both CBs out today.
Just a few supplementaries on your player ratings ,
Cooper - I can't blame him for their equaliser which was a fluke.
Burrows - lovely crosser.
Souza - very quiet today
Peck - great lad but not quite Blaster for passing , no need to foul + get booked coz we had defenders there.
JRS - obviously needs a good bollocking before every game to remember his defensive duties.
Hamer - frustrating , clearly intelligent & skilful so why doesn't he get on the ball and run mf ? and why does he get so many yellows ?
O'Hare - one of his best games
Campbell - scores goals !
Brewster - so sad but I genuinely think he is losing touch with what a footballer should do - is he contemplating dropping out of the game this summer ? You say send him out on loan in January but who would have him ? At what level ? there's not a club who would pay even a fraction of his wages - it's got to the point where he contributes nothing and CW prefers to send on a kid rather than the 25yr old who was once worth a massive fee & wages.
It's like the tale of the King's Clothes , everyone can see there's nothing there (even when fit) but the club daren't admit it.
It must be heartbreaking for him but we must find a striker in January.
Moore is getting on + will not recover quickly from future injuries, Campbell is only 24 but possibly has fitness issues , One is too young to lead a line and Brewster is incapable of that role.

It's a strange feeling , sitting top of the league with an unfinished squad.

The youngsters have done incredibly well , but they need a bit more experienced assistance.

Which is why I would have brought Davies on today , not Brewster.

Ratings:

I thought Hamer was poor today. He always seems to choose the difficult pass when a simpler one would mean we keep possession. This is a major failing by United and does not seem to be being corrected by Knill. Hamer isn't the only culprit mind but today he was poor. 5.5/10.
