Way way too much negativity...

Thought it was a cracking first half. Most entertaining half of football we've played yet) imho)
We were a bit average in second and lost our desire. Or, they nullified our attack. Unlucky Var decisions (although it was offside) but onwards & upwards eh!
Bring on Everton next weekend.
Var killed the game, all the emphasis went to Southampton and the game suffered as a spectacle. Worse thing ever to happen to football, it will start turning people away eventually.

It’s more worrying that we’re playing well?

We aren’t though are we? We play well in patches but you can clearly see this is a team still finding its feet. Mousset looks good but raw, Robinson can be a world beater or carpet beater depending and Didzy misses too many chances. We were having similar conversations about different players last season. Then there is the fact yesterday we should have had a blatant penalty for handball and you could argue against Billy getting sent off for what was an ill advised, rather than nasty challenge. On another day we win that game or could have lost it 4-0.

We don’t look out of place in this league and as we get better I think we will pick up enough points to survive.

Not so positive any more - a point a game is borderline relegation form.

We're 2 points behind where we should be. Gained an unexpected one at Chelsea and had a complete wankfest and dropped 3 today.

Don't agree our finishing killed the game, also don't think VAR is currently good, the penalty was debatable, as there would be uproar if given against us. But the others fair enough. It will be crap whilst it is still bowing to the man in the middle. Too many people going on about the diminishing role of the ref has meant the VAR team don't want to overturn the ref. The idea that they check what he saw is crap, should be did he screw up and get it wrong.

As stated we’ve been no more or less negative than CW in his post match pressers

I was responding to the strange idea in the post that I quoted more than stating my own view.

I mostly agree with what you’ve written. I think you could make a case that we’ve deserved to take at least a point from each of our first five games. It we weren’t playing well and were really getting outclassed I’d be more worried, but I think if we keep up basically this level of performance we’ve got a really good chance of stopping up. We need to tweak a couple of things, notably the strike partnership.

Mcgoldrick had his best game of season i thought despite the sitters he missed & i thought we were the better team for the majoirty norwood was big part of that. but you cant miss the chances we did & think we will get away with it. we could & should have had a hatful & this going to be fine margins in may

5 points from 5 games with so many new players settling in - we are doing ok.

Apart from McB all the other 10 played last season together tbf. And he was replaced by Billy!!
A reasonable excuse if 4 or 5 of the new signings started but can’t call that one out

However, the lads are imo lacking PL know how, most goals against can be called as individual errors which is frustrating, but they will learn from that,
Cut out the errors, take our chances and we are mid table.
The Norwich result should give us hope too as it just goes to show this league is so unpredictable

We really needed something here, got a run of some very tough games. Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal. They're gonna be tricky to get points against, ideally we need to snag 3 points away vs Watford to make up for the points we're more than likely gonna drop vs those three.

I wouldn't ever underestimate any team in this league but after watching both Everton and Arsenal play teams who we are probably on a similar level to us earlier today, I am not sure either will be that tough.

Arsenal are an absolute car crash at the back and don't have a decent DM. Stick Freeman on against his old club behind the front 2 and I can see us causing them lots of problems. Keeping their front line quiet could be very tricky though.

Everton look very average as well so far, although they do have a decent home record.

My point is that by half-way through the season, most of the new players will have settled and will be in the first team. That will happen. At present Wilder is carefully respecting his established players and showing loyalty.

Southampton by no means rubbish and we were never ever going to be a walkover.

They were good and we matched them, the game was tight but a fair result would have been a draw.

We were a joy to watch from start to finish.

I can't think of 1 player that was under a 7/10.

The effort was off the scale, to lose was so harsh on that team.

Didsy fluffed his chance but my God he is soooo talented - shame on anyone that berates him.

It's going to be a long season but a big big thank you to the team and management for bringing this to us, it's truly awe inspiring.

A loss yes but I dont feel miserable one bit I walked away fairly content we are really good - head held high.

Losing like that is just plain dignified.

I wish I could like this twice and put it on the dressing room wall.

Very clear that VAR failed us and we should have had a penalty. Wilder and haselhut press conferences on Blades player really dwell on this. Teeth grinding that hasselhutt says they got the luck today with the penalty decision. I thought the whole point of VAR was to take the luck element out of decisions as it did in ruling out a goal that would have stood last season. We have to be more clinical but the overall performance gives no grounds for negativity. It s going to be a long season and I'd take the table as it stands ⚔⚔

this ,
after the goal had been disallowed Southampton suddenly came alive and really took a grip on the game and their forwards were running at us and they looked likely to score , which sadly they did following very poor play by us again!
Our heads def dropped after the VAR disallowed goal , you do wonder if the linesman flags it straight away and there's no celebration would it have been different ?

another learning curve for us

Overall 5 games in , still learning in a new league , as are CWAK and we do start slow generally , plenty to be very optimistic about and nothing to fear , bring on the scouse double !
