After just watching the second half of Watford v Pigs 4-1 excellent - not only the scoreline but Watford played some superb football - Harley was majestic Scored a great goal Eustace looked good on the ball and Cleverley and Graham looked quality.
The Blades haven't played that well all season - Malkie Mackay is a rookie manager with no money to spend but he's doing a far better job than Blackwell

How did we get on when we played them Fiery?

I was exchanging texts with a Wednesdayite tonight, obviously I started it, given that I couldn't believe that Laws had not sorted their marking at set pieces since the Derby match. Anyway, he asked how Watford could get Lansbury from Arsenal and Cleverley from Man U. I told him that with Lansbury it meant he stayed down South, but the real reason was that in joining Watford they see plenty of possession and play the ball on the floor. It suits the way they want to see them play and develop.

Both players looked to have more confidence and ability than any player in our team this season and played with pace, precison interchange and great skill. Lansbury's first goal and the way he went past two piggy defenders was ace.

Thanks to the Fowls, in a black week for Blades supporters, they can always be guaranteed to raise a smile

Won 2-0 with an attendance of 24,638 at home
What I was alluding to was the fact that the Watford side played some super football with a side of loans and experience costing much less than we are having to shell out. Watford are now well above us in the league and when the pigs pulled one back went straight back on the offensive - we sat back and waited!
I was most impressed with their performance tonight and if the Blades played like that tomorrow I would certainly review my position regarding Blackwell - but unfortunately we all know that it won't happen:rolleyes:

Shreds - I didn't have to exchange texts with a pig, i had a real live one watching the match with me (the wife), although she was far from appreciative with some of the comments i was coming out with!

I thought Watford played well tonight, and i thought the pigs were poor, but then again when Watford played at the Lane earlier on this season i honestly thought they would struggle.

I've had a few days to digest the last couple of poor results, and i still feel that we have a decent side, although what we need is a complete rethink from Blackwell regarding tactics, and if he does rethink his tactics and it gets us going again then fine, but i don't think it will happen

Saw it tend to agree with your summary of Watford but Raul does have a good point re earlier result. Mind you, that was then this is now.

And you are right about MalkieM versus most not just Mr B.

I've come to the conclusion that we should return to the good old days - £100.00 a week maximum wage; a transfer fee ceiling of £5000.00; players should be born within the glow of the Club's floodlights and come to the match on tram; chairmen (not chair person) should be local butchers or factory owners and the manager should have served the Club for at least 30 years and know no other. Then we'll see whose the best. Trouble is it'll probably be Crewe Alexandra! By the way does anyone know why they called themselves Alexandra - does it have something to do with the local picture palace?

Nice to see Harley get one!

What were Wendy's defence doing? I mean, I thought we were doing badly! Lansbury's firt was just laughable.

No Christmas, the local pub Queen Alexandra

Yes a much better job, obviously. They played really well, and its always nice to see the goals flying in against the pigs anyway but... their last seven games looks like P7 W2 D3 L2. We beat them 2-0 before that. Perhaps you need to stand a bit further back before forming opinions..?

Watford looked a completely different outfit compared to the dump that came to BL. Regardless of how poor Wednesday were, Watford were moving it around beautifully and look to have got real quality in their side and a manager who knows how to get strangers and youngsters to gel.

Surely it is fair to say that Watford fans will be delighted with how their season has gone so far - especially given how they looked against us - and they will I assume feel like they are getting some decent entertainment from time to time. I think that was the point that was being made, and I see your reply as petty and ridiculously argumentative - a bit like this one!

I strongly believe that Malkay is doing a better job than our Kev.

Good Morning Dunc - Again you missed the point!
As the season has progressed Watford started as a poor unit but have gradually improved both in their style of play and results wise. Their last three games saw them beat Middlesborough away, draw away with Forest and then thrash Wendy 4-1. Their free flowing style was there to see last night and when they had a setback just before half time when the pigs scored came out determined to increase their lead and get a stranglehold on the game. We were 3 goals up in a similar position and then sat back and tried to weather the storm and I believe extremely fortunate to hold on to the 3 points.
By the way our season has gone the other way and just to remind you our last three games Doncaster home 1-1, Scunthorpe away 1-3 and Blackpool away 0-3
Dunc, currently we are going backwards at an alarming rate but we are ok because Mr Blackwell says he is not worried, everything will be ok.
We have NOT played anything like the football style that Watford displayed last night since Preston P/O last season.
Blackwell not worried, I certainly am worried

Also Dunc, for the record our last seven games for comparison:
P7 W1 D2 L4 Points 5 from a possible 21
Now thats what I call promotion form !

I thought Wendy played as much hoofball as we do at our worst.
Even their goal was a route one classic.
Thought they were very direct against us first half at the Lane too, humping it into our box at every opportunity. Wasn't it the Forest boss who called them 'very direct' (or words to that effect) and upset Laws?
Can't see how they can perpetuate the myth that they're the 'footballing' team in Sheffield.

I didn't say that we were having anything other than a bad run, but its too easy to say 'this manager is great' or 'that manager is better than...' based on half a dozen games. What about Ian Holloway? Is he great or just a journeyman manager who's having a decent run? What makes a great manager great anyway, and based on that how many of them are in the CCC?

5 points from 21 and still only seven points off the top.

Dunc - Not missing the point, just looking at it from a different direction...

The piggies were awful no defending the only way they looked likely to score was from a set piece or long throw.Talk about hoofball they played it.

Swap the blue on their shirts to red though and you could be watching us. Don't let the final score fool you, that was a thrashing for us today.
