can't decide what was funnier - O'Hare and Souza's post game interview
I thought the same. I thought Burrows would be pushed further up the pitch but it seemed that McCullum was playing left midfield.McCullum came on in an odd position and I couldn’t work out who on that side was supposed to be further forward. In terms of performance, other than one or two dodgy swings, he actually pushed us further up, made half a dozen interceptions (despite not much time on pitch) and was a live wire who got us going again. Similar to Shackleton actually.
I’d actually say Sam had a great game given his limited time…. 7.5+
Great to see that our new full backs seem to be settling in and adding to our attacking threat. Given the changes both in personnel and formation it was always going to take time to click. .A few observations from the stats
- Burrows had most key passes (4) , most crosses (8), and most accurate crosses, as well as most interceptions. Attacking wise certainly an impressive game, Gilchrist had next most key passes (3) perhaps suggesting he is growing into his attacking RB role?
- as other have said, Vini was key with joint most aerial duels won (level with Soutar) and most successful tackles.
- Arb and O’Hare continue to have excellent pass completion stats for their positions (93.5% and 92.6%) whilst both centre halves are also over 90%.
- in attack we are little more hit and miss. Hamer had twice as many shots as anyone else (6) but otherwise all the attacking stats are below where we need them to be if we are to be in contention.
Who. Is Riley Roberts?6 for Souza
3 for Moore
It may be a good idea to close down the supply line on that side, putting on McCallum in front of Burrows (they seemed to swap positions a bit). If that is successful we can make the opposition's play more predictable and see out games more effectively.McCullum came on in an odd position and I couldn’t work out who on that side was supposed to be further forward. That was very evident at Preston , giving the ball away, and his challenges were very salty on Sunday. In his favour he’s very committed and gives his all to the cause . He’s an exciting playerI find hamer so frustrating
Never in my Sheffield United supporting life have I seen a player needlessly give the ball away or carelessly give away free kicks as much as he does
I'm sure it will click for him and these things will come off but even nick Montgomery used to Complete passes with more regularity than gus
Yeah I don't want to sound like I'm down on him but in almost every game I've seen him in he is so reckless in challenges and careless in possession I'm just hoping it clicks and starts coming off as at the moment he is just disrupting our rythmn and gifting possessionThat was very evident at Preston , giving the ball away, and his challenges were very salty on Sunday.
