Watch out Burnley are coming

You say that, but he's managed to get Fulham & Bournemouth promoted.

I don't think he's as bad as many make out. He has Burnley very well organised and they've got really strong squad depth.

I'd be surprised if they fell away from the automatic battle.
His Bournemouth promotion was equally built on a very sound defence. People just think he's a dick. I can't see any logic to the idea he's shit at this level

I’d say the refs got Bournemouth promoted. Never seen a team so blatantly favoured as they were that year.

Fulham had Mitrovic and Cairny. Xisco managed to get a lesser Watford team up than the Fulham team Parker inherited.

He managed 2 promotions with 2 sides who should have pissed the division with the embarrassment of players he had at his disposal. Finished 4th with Fulham and very nearly bottled the play offs to Cardiff.

He’s been a very lucky boy with the sides he’s inherited IMO & it really masks his actual managerial ability.

Someone doing well with a good group of players or a good budget doesn't make the achievement any less.

Case in point:

They were always going to be around, have some decent players, pace and a sound defence. Strong possibility of top two.

The biggest ace we hold over Burnley is Scott Parker.

Concentrate on us. Continue picking up points the way we have & nobody will catch us.
If the clubs owners - whoever they may be - can support Chris and our boys over the line . Without Jan investment I don’t think we will make top 2 - with 3/4 additions we will win the league

CW can’t keep pulling rabbits out of the hat imo without support

100% agree - but we really do need this takeover shit sorting one way or another….or at least a statement from the current owner that it will not impact on our January support for Chris Wilder in the transfer window.

We need a bit more depth in case of more injuries, but you could argue that by Jan, Tom Davies could well have replaced Blaster…

Disagree.
Getting promoted out of this league is never a cake walk.

Also, you could argue he should piss it with Burnley this season.
They have the strongest squad and he has a track record of doing well with strong squads...
Fair.

A team with Mitrovic amongst others should be as close to a cake walk as you can get.

He has a record of doing well with strong squads yes. Can he do it at a middling team? Probably not. He’s a championship guardiola.

So three or four? Important to know the precise number.

Whether it's by Autos or Playoffs, a part of me can just see Burnley (who look organised but lack creativity) 1-0 or 0-0 their way into the premier league this season.

I know recently they had a long run of games without scoring a goal from open play, and I can't remember the last time they conceded a goal.

The prize for autos is so big that the battle at the top is bound to be relentless the whole season.
We know that our summer recruitment wasn't quite complete so to have overcome our shallow squad strength thus far has been very creditable.

However , compared to our nearest rivals , our need to improve the squad in January is greater than theirs.

It's concerning that we may be limited to 2 loans so these must not be wasted on fillers but carefully selected. first teamers.

You can bet that our rivals will also strengthen , given that they seem to have access to cash.

If the Prince stays , I hope he invests in the squad , but I'm not confident that he will.
1. He wants to sell + leave.
2. He's already experienced PL + two relegations , so knows it no bed of roses (claims it made him ill).

The buyers are looking at it with fresh untainted eyes and , seeing us at the top of the league , would surely be tempted to invest in January, to achieve what must be the only rational reason for acquiring us - promotion.
Just two problems with the takeover mob for me.
1) They're American, I just don't trust Americans with "sarrker" clubs.
2) There a consortium

Consortium means that there's nobody that can actually afford the club so they've all had a whip round, and it also means many people that will disagree with each other and the next round of seemingly never ending boardroom battles at Bramall Lane will start up again, until one of the consortium who hadn't got enough money to buy is in the first place ends up stuck with us.

Do we need more rabbits ? Is not the current squad good enough ? I agree another CB and/or striker would be good, but in the absence of long term injuries we should be ok

Surely none of our players are likely to get sent off ?
Not any more coz CW has said he's "spoken to them" about discipline 🤣

He didn't mention whether they appeared to understand him or have the cognitive and/or emotional intelligence to avoid completely unnecessary red cards in future.

I remember Simon Tracey running out of his area (at Spurs or Palace I think) to clatter a player and duly getting sent off. God knows who went in net.
Harry Bassett later said in the radio interview that his GK always had the brains of a rocking-horse !

Can't say that kind of thing these days but it made me laugh and it's stuck in my unselective memory for 30+ years.

They fucked us in 2009 for which I've never forgiven them and they put 5 past us twice last season , so they are proper challengers , make no mistake.
They've got squad depth and access to cash so they are not going to fall away.

This might change as the season progresses but I’ve not looked out for a single other team yet. What will be, will be. That last PL season was so painful that even though I know the state of our finances are strongly tied to promotion I could take it or leave it at this point. I’m just enjoying watching this young side do so well. If we end up getting promoted, fine. If we don’t, whatever.
If we don't... We lose our good lads

It is Indeed very good timing to have Davies back now Blaster is out for the season , but the former must stay fit

Imo we need cover for Souza - a replica if possible - because if we don't have a Souza (injury or multiple bans), you can forget autos. This player needs to be 6'3" minimum and able to cover Souza , Souttar or Anel.

We also need to be realistic about Moore's injury (not kid ourselves like CW did with JoC).
If he's properly crocked , we need to organise a tall athletic striker to arrive on 1st January.
And if he isn't , we still need that striker.

I don’t know about you but I’ve had my eyes on Leeds and Sunderland but there’s been a quiet revolution going on at Burnley if you look at the league table they’ve conceded less goals than us. Could be a close Championship this season.
Burnley are shite… not worried

All these requests for cover, we can’t afford to be bringing in players of similar or greater ability than our first choice 11 and anyone coming in at that level won’t want to sit on the bench. We need bodies to supplement some positions rather than bona fide first team superstars. If we’re playing 1 up front all season then Moore and Campbell are possibly ok with the kids behind them. If they get long term injured then we need a good option to replace them. Same with defenders, we probably need someone versatile (like Gilchrist) in case 2 of them decide to be banned and another gets injured.
