Was it a foul on Simo?

The point of the law is to allow goalkeepers to throw or kick the ball out unchallenged. If anyone (intentionally or not) disturbs or interfers with the act of throwing or kicking he's committing a foul.

It's probably possible to find faults with the choice of words in the law, but I think the referee would have said it was a foul if he'd seen what actually happened.

That's probably true. However, given his rabbit in the headlights reaction it would appear that his focus was elsewhere, meaning he was reliant on the linesman...who made some interesting decisions that half.

Wow, more than 100 posts on a simple question.

The answer is "NO, he wasn't fouled". Regardless of what did or did not occur, the referee (who, sadly at times, is the only one who matters) gave the goal and, therefore, he wasn't fouled.
Argue about it until the cows come home, and if we lose out on promotion by a single goal then it might come back to haunt us all, but there's bugger all can be done about it (or the fact I've lost 20 minutes of my life reading about it).

Is there anyway people could stop posting on this thread as it keeps appearing at the top of my "what's new" page and I have to scroll through lots of pointless drivel to get rid of it

Thanks judge
