interviewed last night warnock said he wo,nt ever be manager again to much stress , can u blame him , i would have him back asap, where would we be now with him still in charge, definatly not where we r now, prem mabye or pushing for playoffs i say,

>warnock says he will never come back to lane
not really interested what the qpr manager has to say tbh

Or alternatively he'll come out with an ill-timed interview about his contract on the eve of the biggest game of the season and potentially his career. Warnock will always put himself first.

Quite frankly for me he can put himself first all he wants so long as he does his job, and as far as I'm comcerned he managed Sheffield United far better than anyone has done since he left, and better than many did before he came.

If he was still manager of this club we may not be challenging for European places in the premier league; we might not even be in the premier league at all, but one thing I am certain of - we would be nowhere near the bottom of the championship.

With what the board asked of the subsequent managers, he'd almost certainly have walked.

Given the board asked managers to repair the damage done by Robson, the question wouldn't have been asked if he'd stayed.

Yeah, IF he managed to get us straight back up... The OP was musing over pushing for play-offs.

One of those managers was Robson. He was given substantial financial backing.

It's all conjecture, but I have no doubt at all that had Warnock remained and received the same backing we would have gone straight back up and not be flirting with relegation two thirds of the way through the season.

The only season in which Warnock was given any significant financial backing whilst we were in the championship was 2005-6. Result - promotion.

He'll be back as a consultant around 2021.

By which time we'll be in the conference north!

There no point looking backwards. especially in football.

I say give adams till xmas. To get his ideas through & at least some sembelance of what hes trying to do. If were playing shit & near the bottom of league 1 then get shut.

His interview last night has convinced me he deserves more time.

Well done Kev Gee, a rare moment of sense.

Neil Warnock hasn't been manager of Sheffield United since 2007. He polarised opinion between supporters, he had a bit of success, and also managed to cock it up in games where it really counted as well. Neil Warnock was mainly about Neil Warnock, so constantly bringing his name up leaves his spectre hanging over the club, undermines whoever is in charge, and in reality we can afford to waste time thinking about him and need to concentrate on the present, and how to turn the shambles we are in around without needlessly and constantly harping on about Neil Warnock.

He's gone, he's been gone nearly 4 years, we need to deal with it

The reason he keeps being mentioned and doesn't just recede into the annals of history is that our position (league and financial) has worsened substantially since he departed. Therefore people can't help but look back and wonder what went wrong and perhaps also wonder where we'd be if he remained.

I don't know or care if he was all about Neil Warnock. What I do know is that he was a good manager, and one of the better ones that we've had. I used to actually enjoy matchdays when he was here. Now I don't.

Seem to remember him shagging us up constantly after Christmas in the Prem, cowardly bastard shat it every away game. The position he left us in was with a relegated team, a bunch of triers who in the end weren't good enough, and his tactical fuck ups really didn't help so sorry, he wasn't one of the best managers we had, he came along at a low ebb and managed to motivate the team to a few decent results in a poor league.

When it mattered with the big boys he showed his true worth, he was found wanting and not up to the job.

Many others have been found wanting in the top flight as well. That doesn't make them bad managers.

We were regarded as nailed on certainties for relegation almost as soon as promotiion was confirmed. I even remember some predicting a record low number of points. Well, in the end we went down on goal difference and also because another side didn't play by the rules. We also got more points than any other relegated side has done since then. (Although that could change this season).

I agree with regard how we played away from home. We were far too negative. Although, how costly was that free kick that Pederson of Blackburn scored against us deep into stoppage time at Ewood park? But at home there were some very good performances.

I believe you are wrong about how good a manager he was. His record with us compares well with most other managers that we've had in recent times (the last 40 years). And the championship was no poorer when he took over than it is now. If anything I would argue that it's worse now.

Unfortunately, I feel that people allow their dislike of Neil Warnock as a person to cloud their judgement of his abilities as a manager.

But, I'm not surprised he doesn't want to come back. The place is an absolute shambles and I think we are in a far worse state than when he came here in December 1999.

If Warnock could have done a job in the Prem we wouldn't be where we are now.
Always been a failure at the highest level - it'll be interesting to see how long he lasts next season.
