@tufty_club The 3rd best Blades podcast in the land is back with another pod!

Actually we might be bigging ourselves up as if there any others are out there aside from the superb (award nominated) Blades pod that Beans and Roygbiv present and Four Blades in the Pub blades in a pub (the Wayne Quinn interview is a must listen)...then we'd below those aswell as those two above, who blow us away for regularity and professionalism!

However, we have managed to churn summat else out this week (got a fantastic one about Blades kits on the way featuring John Devlin on the way too)

This week we reviewed the Neil Warnock documentary of the 2004-05 season.

Join us as we go from sticking them out at Matlock, to swimmimg in the sea Scarborough, scrapping at Millwall and discussing who was at fault for not picking up Joleon Lescott or any of the other big f****s.

I know he is a bit of a bell end but he did give us some good times and sometimes we might have gone too far to criticise him. Yes, I know it's all about him wherever he goes and is not the big Blade he makes out but no doubting he was a character as the documentary proves. We did have some good times and it was entertaining!

Apologies the sound quality cuts out a bit at times. Hope it's still an ok listen though.
 
At the time I think he did achieve some success and he gave us our pride back. but I'd counter
 
that with all the embarrassing histrionics on the sidelines and many baffling decisions with the modest budget in the Prem season. I feel now not much other than indifference. His endless selfishness and false Bladey proclamations are grating at the very least
 
People who slag off Warnock forget what we were like in the years following Bassett. He gave us back our pride, guts and determination. Got us into the PL and unlucky not to get to a cup final. Stuffed the pigs.

Whenever Warnock is mentioned on this forum there are people who can't wait to slag him off. But I'd say he was our third best manager out of about 15 managers in 45 years. Only Bassett and Wilder have done better, and Wilder only overtook Warnock this season (deservedly so). Arguably Porterfield is up there too, but he never took us to the top flight.

Yeah I do kind of think the criticism of him has gone too far. Yes it is all about Neil Warnock and yes he blames everyone but himself when things went wrong. There are lots of other reasons why he is criticised BUT I remember having some absolutely fantastic days between 2002 ish to 2007. After Bassett and Wilder he is the best manager we have had in the last 40 years.
 
Warnock is a great motivator and man-manager and gave us some fantastic times. I lost some respect for him though after his over-exuberant celebrations after Cardiff’s draw at his last visit to the Lane

I think that could have been down to the amount of stick he was getting from the sidelines, but could be mistaken.
 



He's always wanted to managed them. Best set of fans in the land. Club he's always admired. Muck o'nettles.

He will keep them up though. Do what he always does - get them organised, defensively solid and motivated. His man management for the most part is brilliant even though tactically not sure he has got a scooby doo.

Think it’s now his longest trip, beating previous longest Scarborough. Bit surprised he’s never managed in the West Midlands, thought he might have wanted to get that on his manager history.

There was talk recently about Birmingham.
 
Newquay to Teeside Airport twice a week, no worries.

Good to see him back in the game. He was managing before the Premier League was invented.
 
I like his comment today that he will enjoy managing for eight games without being booed by opposition fans (maybe Sky should have some fake boos for Warnock in their coverage!)
 
Best for Boro, i said at the weekend to my Smoggy wife, get rid of woodengate and Warnock in. She laughed. Now she thinks i must have had insider info. Just a sensible footballing decision, i like boro and hope they stay up.

You've got to love characters in the game like Warnock.


There's a certain 'Trumpness' about him though, not sure I can put into words why I see a comparison there but whenever I see them both talk there's something similar about them.
Probably all the rhetoric he comes out with, but it becomes far less of a problem as a football manager.

Slight modification – “I’ve always loved coming to the Riverside, with that lovely tannoy and so many great seats here. We must have the best fans I’ve ever experienced on one of those super-weird Zoom walls.”
 



This made me feel rather old – I can still remember him that time as mascot for us...
