Walker and Naughton

No, the ruling was in September and we knew then we were in the money, just a case of how much.
We definitely knew how much we were getting before we sold Naughton and Walker.
Payments are already bagged by McCabe.
The bigger picture remains how we could possibly have ended up in such a mess with such huge amounts coming into the club.
As for Evans, the fee remains £3m, most of which has been paid - despite Bob's bizarre notion that because this was staged like every other transfer this meant we hadn't actually paid that amount.
On which basis, we won't have received £8m for Walker and Naughton either.

Yes, we won the case in 2008 but as I said, discussions on the amount didn't start until March 2009. I agree that we knew we were 'in the money' but considering WHam reckoned it should have been £5M, there was no guarantee it was going to be millions. We did know before we sold the Kyle's but as per previous, the money is being paid over at least 5 years.

Considering around 2/3rds of Chedders' fee is based on appearances, goals and promotion, you as well as anyone should realise that we've paid nowhere near the full £3M.

With the loss of the parachute payments and your own admission that we won't have received the Kyle money in full, or had the Tevez money, you've kind of defeated your own argument about us being 'in a mess despite huge amounts of money coming in'.

I just cannot believe this re Evans. Where do you get 2/3rds of his fee on appearances from?

Trevor said at the forum, in a rare moment of clarity after alot of spluttering, that as at April 2010 we had paid City over £2m in cash, the rest been on appearances etc.

Tevez wedge is over three years I believe per notes to the 2009 accounts.

No, on this basis we won't have received £10 million for the Kyles.... as per the deal.

To be fair to lenners....RS last night stated that it was £8M. I was under the impression it was £10M as well but I think a lot of rumour mongering and lack of clarity from the club has clouded that issue

Lenners picks and chooses what he wants to use as his 'facts'.
The deals were £5 million guaranteed for KN and £3 million guaranted for KW.

The other £2 million is based on add ons

No Lenners is dealing with the reality.
Nearly all transfers are staged payments for the basic fee - the extras are determined by appearances, caps etc.
As Birch acknowledged - though it's in the accounts - the amount paid for Evans is already above £2m. The extras form the minor part of the deal, not two-thirds.
Ched's highly unlikely to bother us with a £100,000 or £200,000 for goals scored but appearances will probably be about to trigger another relatively small payment.
As for Walker and Naughton, the basic was £8m but it's unlikely we got the £8m up front and will probably get it over two or three years.

Len, you say "most" of the £3 Million fee for Evans has been paid. How much is "most"? What's your source?

Don't blame me Trig, just trying to help folk understand the chief exec, the accounts etc are more likely to be right than the wishful £750,000 thinking that suddenly got peddled when Chedwyn turned out to be crap.

Top stuff, as per usual, Lenners.

Q&A Transcript - 23/04/10

KMc: Well I think we made the signing that was most expensive in the Championship with Ched Evans who's cost us three million. He's a very talented youngster...

SB: He hasn't cost you three million though has he?

KMc: Absolutely. It's...

SB: Have you paid three million already for him?

KMc: Well we've paid some of the three million. We're committed to pay three million. Make no bones about it. We're very clear...

SB: Isn't that only on goals and international appearances and all the rest of it?

KMc: It's on a set amount of money that's on appearances only.

SB: On appearances only?

KMc: Yep, I mean...

SB: How much have you paid for Ched Evans as of today?

KMc: Errr... I can't tell you to be honest with you....

SB: Trevor?

TB: Well it's spread over the course of the contract but we are committed to you know, over two million.

SB: Already? That's already been paid?

TB: Well it's not already been paid but it will be paid over the course of the contract. But it's a two million pound commitment.

KMc: We'll get you the factual information Seth but to every supporter - Ched, who we think is a fine player but maybe not had the season we all hoped for as supporters, is a three million pound package that the club pay for him on a transfer fee that was the largest in the Championship. It's not a myth. And I don't know why there seems to be some belief that we're paying a lot more...

SB: Well probably because your manager has said that the fee for Ched Evans was £750,000 up front with money still to come.

KMc: Well that is... well we paid, when he first joined, we paid £750,000 as the first stage of the payment and when you conduct transfers, out or in, I should think invariably, eight transfers out of ten are paid in stages. It's not unusual. It's the norm.

TB: Yeah, I think that's the way transfers are done these days. It's spread over the course of the contract.

__________________________

In brief, we have to pay at least £2M in stages. Could be £3M if he makes lots of appearances.

If we've committed to extras only based on appearances and not goals we really are mugs.
Was the Pie Man still around when we bought him?

How DARE he say that to you Mic. Go on, smash his face in....
