If, and by what I'm reading when Gary Speed goes, why can't we fans vote who we'd like as manager?
There are alot of very experienced knowledgeable fans on this forum and then if it goes tits's up we could only blame ourselves!
I know money is a factor, but let's say there is a shortlist of five to ten applications we could then vote for the one we want.
In the past I wouldn't have say voted for Robson, Heath, Mcewan etc etc
And at the moment I certainly woudln't want the ginger pig ffs.

taking away the fact he is an obnoxious pig....he does have the right managerial qualities to get us out of the shit we are curently in. However,I don't think he's come to us just as much as many fans don't want him

I don't think he could do a good job for us, however if he did we would never ever hear the end of it. pig saves the Blade. Field day

If it have us the chance to block a Megson like appointment then I'd say fair enough. Not really sensible though. I'd like to rely on the club to not be so daft, but I don't think this would be the case anymore.....:(

We'd probably just about have the sense to limit his contract to 5 years.

The whole thing is about him being an obnoxious pig. I mean, take away the bit about Fred West being a murderer, he could lay patios like a good 'un.

Yeah but who's to say that we wouldn't have messed things up spectacularly before or after that? A lot of football fans, despite what they think, don't actually know a lot about the workings of a football club and the game itself.

Mind you, neither do a lot of chairmen.

Exactly, why have one know nowt making the decisions, when you can have thousands. It works for ebbsfleet. Doesn't it? ;)

I agree it's not a good method. My only point is that the man making the next decision will be the same bloke who appointed Robson and subsequently gave him to squander.

Don't see how it makes any sense for Speed to go, but as he did not tell people to take a hike cause he's staying at the lane, it does make you wonder. But so little experience and you take on the National team - fail there and he will be lucky to get Mansfield Town.

Everyone fails at Wales. Thats what they are good at. Haven't qualified for anything for 50 years. If he can get them in the top 50 teams in the world then he's a genius.

In many ways its a perfect job. Get well payed to watch football, pick a team 6 times a year for games that everyone knows you are going to lose. Bloody hell, even I could do it..!

Agreed. He can't lose. The only hope (if you want him to stay) is that he knows it's a cop out of a job and that that isn't what he's after. Turning us around would take great skill, but it's realistic and the credability would be immense. There's nothing to be gained from the Wales job, other than an over paid toss off. But then again, that's more or less the same as the 2 years he spent playing for us.

Gets to re-ignite his Sky punditry career too.

Rumours are Megson is at BDTBL now and Brown is on his way for an interview in the next 24 hours!

Speed is still in the Hotel talking to the WFA officials.

If Smegson is unveiled as new Manager I won't be renewing or attending another game while he's here

As I've said in 'Rumours' on another thread, this smacks of Warnock being 'nailed on' for the Pompey job 5 years ago when his odds tumbled overnight. Could it just be that Speed is testing the board and finding out whether they're going to give him the tools to do the job ? He was very quick to point out in his post match yesterday that he would be talking to the Board and not Wales.

He knows now what he may have suspected when he took on the job that he isn't going to turn this set of players into a decent team and if the board aren't going to back him then you can understand why he'd walk. Logic tells me he wouldn't jump ship at this stage unless he knows he isn't going to get the backing.

The thought of Megson and this set of players is frightening.

We wont be stupid enough to employ Megson. Surely. I think that would be me finished, and there aren't many things that would bring that about.

Megson does have his uses though. The mere suggestion that he might be in line for it is enough to make just about any candidate seem palatable.

If Megson is appointed, I will contact the ticket office, pay to upgrade my ST from the Kop. I will upgrade to the South Stand, right behind the dug out, where I will shout abuse at Megson for 90 minutes, win, lose or draw. I feel that strongly about it.

It's quite apparent that if we were able to "vote" the ginger pig would never set foot within a country mile of the managers seat.

I would imagine DaiDisorderly is trumpeting his arrival, and all things Welsh, and I bet the Sun is Shining in the Valleys

Let me get this right, you will pay the Club more money if Megson is Appointed ? anyone else, this could be the way out of debt

Dave Bassett is not the answer. Things have moved on a lot in 20 years.

One name no-one has mentioned is Iain Dowie - The thought of him or Phil Brown really make me worry!

I honestly have no idea who will be a positive appointment as the emphahsis still seems to be on trimming the wage bill but we won't be able to shift our (presumably) top half dozen earners due to contract size, length, player quality and player age.

Things have advanced in sport in the last 20years or so, but the basic things in football are just the same. Bassett would certainly fire some of this shower of shit into line.
