I'll start. Harry Redknapp.

Has he made a court apperance yet related to the allegations of tax irregularities? If not, that would automatically scupper his chances anyway.

Redknapp would never take it, there's no transfer fees involved in international football.

If it all goes tits up tomorrow, then I'd go for Roy Hodgson.

Hodgson for me too - he has lots of experience in world football that would benefit the national team.

Hodgson hands down. Although what about Ollie? It's a bit left field but he did wonders with a bunch of average lads at Blackpool, I wonder what he could do with the so-called "best players in the country"?

This should be in general football and sport, unless you think Blackwell would be a serious candidate.

Personally, first choice would be Hodgson and then if he didn't want it, Wenger!

Lets all get a fucking frip shall we?!!!

People are already talking about the next England manager and we havent even finished this World Cup campaign yet! I read speculation in the papers regarding Capello's job, when all we have to do is beat Slovenia to go through - Slovenia, a side we beat quite easily at Wembley a few months ago.

No one can do knee-jerk reactions quite like the English. We had an average performance against the USA where one horrendous mistake cost us the win. We then had another average (not rubbish, despite what some would want us to believe) performance against Algeria who defended for their lives. Anyone would think we had been beaten twice! Its pathetic.

The next England manager shouldnt even be a subject of conversation at the moment, we should be talking about getting into the next round and how we are going to keep Fabio in charge for the next World Cup. He has transformed this England side from the bag of shite they were under McClaren. He should be getting the respect he deserves. Sadly the media, fans and John Terry have shit on him, just like they always do when things dont go their way.

I am by no means trying to ridicule this thread and I apologise if it comes off that way, but I am sick of hearing over-reactions to what is going on. Fuck the gossip about players personal lives, fuck the media and get behind the lads........we wait 4 years for a World Cup and then moan all the way through it slagging off the team and manager - ludicrous!

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!!

(Rant Over)

I'm sure Russ meant when his contract is up. That's what I presumed he meant anyway.

No talk of "Capello Out!" in his post was there?

Honestly, "....No one can do knee-jerk reactions quite like the English."

;)

By the way, what's a frip?

:D

I like the idea of getting a "frip" Lou. :D

Still very unsure about the match tomorrow afts though. You say we beat Slovenia easily last time we played but don't forget they beat Russia in the play offs. Algeria was always going to be our easiest game.

Odds are that the overpaid, over protected, immature, self serving, arrogant, prima donnas that play for all those teams that win stuff may bottle it when comes the to the three lions because they can always dream of the Premiership and the Champons League - together with a couple of sports cars in the garage, never worrying about a mortgage, a WAG or two on their cock (even if it's not their own) and put a little bit of disappointment behind them. We, on the other hand, who support clubs never likely to get into Europe before we shuffle off this mortal coil, only have England to promise any hope of a trophy to boast about.

I'm going to see what Capello and co can do tomorrow, then think about next managers if it comes to that.

On a side note
WTF does this have to do with United?

Did you see the same game I did? England were shite.

Oh, and Blackwell gets my vote.

Tenuous I know but does this help?

Whenever England play and the camera pans round to the crowd I keep looking out for St George's flags with Blades related stuff on 'em.

The Camera man for the National Anthem against Algeria seemed to have a mission to keep the Blades flag in shot at all times :D

I'm glad my post was taken in good spirit, it was meant as a reality check / rallying cry (if you like). HAHA frip! Ive suddenly become Swedish.....I wont correct it, its funnier that way.

Shoreham - It's as good as. We shouldn't even be discussing this, he's the best manager we've had for Donkey's years and I cant understand the idea that he would be replaced any time in the forseeable future.

Kenilworth - All of your comments in the final paragraph are essentially true, but these players are all we have. I happen to think the players as a whole are nowhere near as good as they're made out to be but they are our national team and we should get behind them. Their personal business doesnt matter in the slightest to me.

I enjoyed that little rant, Lou. :D

Much of what you say is right, but like death and taxes, a new manager is inevitable. Even if we win the thing I think Capello will resign and this whole debacle may well have put him off doing much longer. If he does, I stick with Hodgson and Wenger if he turns it down! ;)

That's your opinion Walthamstow. I believe it to be somewhat incorrect but I respect it. People get carried away with the assessment that a performance is shite - simply because we drew 0-0.

Yes we should beat Algeria every time we play them, but they defended manfully and England didnt show enough quality in the final third to break them down, its as simple as that. What I would like to remind everyone, is that no matter who we're playing no one is going to roll over for us in a World Cup. Due to the fact that underdogs dont lay down and surrender in front of England, our fans then automatically jump to the conclusion that England have been shite. This is why top manager's get paid a fortune - because they dont panic instantly when things dont go to plan.

Can you imagine a press conference with the average fan as manager? "Well the players looked like they couldn't be arsed and were bollocks for much of the game" "I'm going to sack the lot of them."

Patience is a wonderful virtue and considered assessment is a useful process.

You might be right about that SEB. I hope he stays on though. If pushed on it my hypothetical choice would be Hodgson, but short term I dont even think that should be an after-thought. KEEP DON FABIO AT ALL COSTS.

I agree with you actually. Daft thread at this stage of his career but Capello is suddenly showing signs of being fallible is he not? I just hope he tries something other than 4-4-2 and frees up Rooney and Gerard by bringing in Joe Cole

I say play that ex-Blade Jags in future!

;)

No ones mentiond Niel Warnock yet, he'd get my vote and Id love to see a half time team talk with him bollocking all the overpaid charlies, he'd get them playing with some pride.

He is yes, but I think most people realise he is human like anyone else. The problem was that England did so very well straight away under his management. He almost made a rod for his own back if you like. Its shown because the first time we've stuttered he is under heavy scrutiny. I just think people need to have a little more faith but I'm glad you can see where I'm coming from.

People keep harping on about this Rooney with Gerrard in behind system. As pointed out in various places this morning, he tried that in friendlies and it didnt work. I can understand why he refuses to do it now. He should always start with Rooney and Crouch up front IMO - simple. You then play Gerrard or Lampard in midfield and make them fight for the starting berth. Lennon and Cole down the wings. Its all fairly simple in my mind, but Capello knows best and will do his own thing.

Having said that I didnt entirely agree with all the selections in his squad. I would have taken Jags and Adam Johnson.

My vote for next manager of England has changed and I am now voting for......

LouTheBlade!!!!!!!

;)

That's the first time my name has ever been put forward for the England Manager's job but I have to admit its an honour :D

I think my lack of top level experience would rule me out though :(

Perhaps someone should create a poll with me in it???? Sadly I feel I may get a low percentage vote

Can I vote Fabio capello?

Don't think he's done anything wrong. He's not changed anything. Always named the team at the same time etc... We had the best qualifying campain of my lifetime and now because we struggled against an Algerian team who obviously made it difficult for us everyone wants change.

If we'd beaten USA 1.0 i don't think we'd have any of this because we'd be on 4 points now and although we played shit (inexplicably shit) vs Algeria nobody would give a toss because we would be in the driving seat. People are too quick to jump on people these days.

If we win 5.0 tomorrow should we get a new manager?
