Physically he's going to be streets ahead of almost anyone in the Championship. He can play a bit too.

I think he'll leave and I'm okay with it if we get a decent fee.

Thought he was great tonight looked like a man playing against boys… credit to him and Ahmedhodzic, they both got pelters last year (and deservedly so) they’ve put their big lip away, got their heads down and look like proper assets in this league

Difficult season for all last season, and I thought the scapegoating was a bit harsh at times, but first season in English football in a struggling side, must have been hard to adapt.
Looked really good today at Champ level, on and off the ball, bossed it.

If the chat is correct that CityGroup have a 40% sell-on clause, then I'd just keep hold.

We can't replace him with the money we'd receive. He was brilliant tonight and totally dominated the middle of the park. Gave everyone else a platform to shine.

My Man of the Match.

If we can keep this midfield together, it has the makings of something quite special at this level. They all looked physically and technically a cut above.

Wish he had put that sort of effort in more last season. He can literally brush people off the ball with ease and isn't afraid of a good slide tackle.

Really annoyed he started phoning it in early doors last season.

True and I am all for players redeeming themselves after a poor start to their Blades career.

Only foot wrong was the shot. He was brilliant and if he plays like that will give the players infront of him time to shine

When he plays well like tonight or against Forest last season he has this habit of taking a touch towards his marker when in relative space and then just barging through them like a dad playing against their under-nourished asthmatic kid.

It seems to really mess with their heads and it’s brilliant to watch.

If he keeps playing like that someone will stump up some cash to sign him before the end of the month unfortunately

I hope we have a replacement in mind

Whether he leaves is all down to £ and since none of us have a clue how we're £fixed it's not worth worrying about.
We all know that the vulnerable 3 are Anel Souza & Hamer , so if the club hasn't got a list of potential replacements our CEO & manager need shooting.
And the owner needs shooting if he hasn't learnt from bitter experience that the time to sell the club is when it looks like getting promoted - so from his POV , it's crucial to be in the top six for the entire season.
Simples.

Remember when an “itk” said wilder and Souza had a bust up and wilder wanted him gone 🤭

In the pre season matches there was a noticeable difference in his overall attitude towards the game , in that we saw far greater levels of work rate , determination and commitment than we have ever seen before from him .

The fact that he has continued to to show these new found attributes in his game tonight , together his natural footballing abilities which were never in doubt , give a strong indication that he is a player who has the prospect of being an outstanding force at this level .

The reasons for this dramatic change to his general approach to the game could stem from a number of factors but whatever they may be , I am now convinced that holding on to him for at least this season would have a huge impact on our chances of success .

That last ditch tackle to prevent a very likely goal. Immense
When that happened I’d already accepted that they’d get a shot away and likely score.

The difference is that he seems to be more determined this season and also that he backs himself against Preston, whereas against most PL teams he’s already left for dead and given up, he’s managed to get back and cover today.

Pretty sure it will be 40% of any profit. I doubt we’d be getting much (if any) more than what we signed him for (12m?), despite the excellent display at Deepdale. So would probably still get to keep all of the sales value.

That said, if he can play 20-30 games at the same level as last night, I’d be tempted to keep him for a year anyway and see what this team can do. He was absolutely excellent last night.

MOTM for me. Always said Vini will flourish with the right players around him....plus maybe, at this moment in time Championship is his level.....?

It strikes me as a player whose ability is very much linked to his mood at the time and when he's on it he's on it.

Hi transfer fee was half that
Was widely reported at time

Just illustrates the gulf between the Prem and the Championship. In the Prem he's on a team who can't keep possession and are chasing shadows, against a middling Championship team , he's a level above and can run the show.
Can see validity in that comment

But let’s me honest we’ve not had a functioning keep possession midfield for a few years. Our main midfield tactic for years has been give it to Norwood who will try a long pass towards a striker bypassing midfield.

We took this style into the PL and constantly giving up possession meant our defence always seems to be under pressure.

Think O’Hare has transformed our midfield because his 1st touch is so good he makes himself available to receive a pass even when he’s marked up.

This means we can now have spells of casually knocking the ball around making the opposition work. They tried to press us but because we much more composed in the ball it failed, so all our midfielders including Vini Souza has much more time and space compared to last season.

You could see Vini Souza was enjoying the game and you could see our team especially midfield played as a team and looked well drilled.

We’ve seen it before that Wilders team become like well oiled machines where everyone knows their jobs, take that into the PL and the players look much better.

Really think at PL it’s essential that you midfield are able to have spells of possession to calm down the game and take any pressure off the defence.

It will take more than one reasonably decent game against an under par, pre season paced, average PNE side to change my mind

He should be a good player at this level but if we can get serious money for him we must take it
Why must we take it ?
I have said before last night's game Vini is some player and could be the best midfielder in the Championship this season(after Baza of course).
So why must we take it ?
We are not going too find anyone better.

Because the longer we keep him the more his value will decline, and we could do more with the money than he can contribute on the pitch. His value ceiling while he's in the championship won't go higher than it is now. If we get to the PL again, and he's poor again, then it plummets. It seems we might be able to get a fee now that is more than last season justifies, we shouldn't be complacent enough not to take it if we can

He's more than replaceable at this level. Mobility and technical ability are more important than physical stature and tackling, and such a player would be a better partner for Arblaster and give us a better balance, especially a left footed one. We need to be dominating possession this season and there are players who'll help us do that more than Souza

Yes he played well but with a couple of caveats (which I think is why he’s not a PL level midfielder):

1. Shooting is awful, obviously
2. His passing is never very progressive or creative - not his job but PL players have that in their locker too
3. There was a moment in the second half where he completely left his man to run off him and they nearly scored. It was careless and very poor but didn’t seem to get picked up on at the time by commentator or anyone else. Those moments cost you in the PL

Best he’s played for us however and, like others have pointed out, really shows the gap in quality between the 2 leagues

Yes. Agreed. If he plays like that 90% of the time in the first half of the season, i’ll eat humble pie. I still don’t think he’s consistent enough, or has the work rate to be at the level he thinks he is. If he sorts that out then I think he’ll be a great player, he has the right build and attributes to be the elite modern footballer.
