Cheers Roy, fair comments from most. Expecting to lose but Swansea is the bigger game in the case of their battle for survival
 
We made far too heavy weather of it.

Agree totally with the comments about the fre kick at the end. From my vantage point I was going mad at Anel.

Looked like the ball was comfortably running through to Egan but Anel needlessly pulled him back and gave them an opportunity to launch it into the box.

Completely wasted it instead.
 
Wigan..... a team that isnt fit to lace our boots...... (historically speaking) but have won the FA cup in living memory......

still a flys skidmark on the wall of football history and shouldnt be any higher than L2 tbh.
 



One said they had a lot of chances, I can only think of one, another said that of all our chances the one we scored was poor, I can only assume that was from their perspective, because I thought is was an excellent goal, mcatee did brilliantly well. And i also think it wasn't them keeping the score down, it was us, because that should've been at least 4 nil.

Not sure how so many of them thought it was a back and forth game...

We were literally parked outside their box just passing it around with ease apart from a short spell.

They really didn't look like a championship team... not gonna lie.
 
Some weird comments, but for poor finishing we should have won 3 or 4 nil. They were never a threat at all. I’d consider that a belly tickling if it happened to us. They made some weird subs as well, brought the 2 on near the end for a forward player and he looked terrible.
 
One comment that resonated with me:

"We don't have a single player that can beat somebody, they have 4 or 5..."

I remember how badly we struggled in the second season of the PL with our pedestrian style. We always looked so rigid. If you don't have players that can break the lines it becomes so difficult to score goals.
It's been a joy to watch Bogle (when he's on it), Berge, Ndiaye, McAtee and MGW (last season) glide past players and create opportunities.
It's a real point of difference to most other Championship sides.

McAtee has really stepped up since he came back into the side. His decision making and execution could sharpen up a little, but let's not forget:

Wigan - setup the winner.
Norwich - scored the winner.
Blackburn - missed two huge chances to bury the game.
Sunderland - scored the equaliser.

It might seem odd that I included Blackburn in there but which of our other midfielders go through one-on-one like that in a game?
He probably would have scored again today had it not been for an incredible tackle.
We all wanted him to take chances and be braver on the ball and he is being. It might not always work but he's winning games for us.
How many times this season have we come up against anybody as good as him? What a signing.

McAtee took too long on his 1v1 yesterday tbh, a great last ditch tackle shouldn't have been possible. He will score those in the future I think, with more experience.

Lovely player, I hope we have him next season to continue his development.

Perhaps, but I don't think he saw the man coming. I think he did really well to ride the initial challenge (as he did for the goal), and to restore his balance and shift it onto his stronger foot.

At another point in the game he uses his quick footwork and balance in the centre of the edge of the 18 yard box to beat a man and slip in Baldock down the side.
Frustratingly (and unsurprisingly) Baldock controlled it rather than doing something with it first time.

Not really criticising him at all. But he had to get a shot off really, he'll learn from it. The type of chance we can't miss in the Prem.
