Well that brought tears to my eyes. It just seems like a massive cloud has been shifted. After years of struggles suddenly we have everything we've ever asked for and more.
At this rate Chris Wilder will have legendary status and a huge statue at the lane.

Doesn't seem 5 minutes since we were claiming to be the laughing stock of the division. Total turnaround by CW/AK and the team.

It doesn't seem long since we were talking like that. What a shame that supporters have to be put through the mill .Nice to read comments from opposition that wasn't filled with bile and bitterness .Good luck Shrews,I hope you pull out of trouble.

When praise comes from opposition fans it means so much more. We are finally looking like a team going upwards. Well done Wilder for culling the shit from the side and bringing back passion in wearing the shirt combined with no little skill and quality.
Only, he didn't cull all the shit that we wanted him to initially bladesway.
Coutts is a different player under wilder. In wilder we trust.

Getting good these. Tough reading on Saturday though. Bradford don't let goals in

The Bradford fans are not confident at all and many expect to lose against us.
They don't concede many but don't tend to score many either.

They've not been that convincing of late and last night was one of their worse performances of the season.
They were fortunate to get a draw at home to lowly Southend, so they are nervous about Saturday.

What a difference 2 months makes...

That said, the difference in attitude, confidence, playing staff and tactics since that fateful evening in mid-August means that we can pretty much disregard that result. Onwards and upwards!

Apparently Southend were up for it last night, organised, worked hard, closed them down and pressed Bradford up the field giving them no time to settle and get their passing game going.

Southend had more shots, more shots on target, more corners and more chances to score.

Their fans are hoping that we go there postive and let them play in an open game.
Don't think their fans realise that we have a big work ethic, fast tempo and press (close down) the opposition players far up the field just like what Southend did.

To be honest I'd settle, for a draw just to keep our unbeaten run going.

“Luckily for us Sheffield Utd decided to stroll the last 20 minutes.”

Yep, and that's one of the things that disappointed me a bit.

We could've really killed them but maybe there were thoughts of conserving energy for the weekend. Suppose that's OK but you shouldn't waste opportunities to increase the goal difference - make hay while the sun shines.

I thought when we went 3-0 it was a good opportunity to give a big of time to the players that haven't featured much. I especially thought Lavery would have been brought on. That's not really a complaint though, I can't complain at winning away 3-0.

Great stuff Roy, and as others have said, it makes such good reading compared to last season!

Something i've seen in the last two 'view from' reports, the opposition fans have mentioned the gears...

On Saturday i read about us beating Vale without stepping out of x Gear and last night reports that in the second half we stepped up a gear.

This is something which we haven't had for a while, going back to Wilson's second season, i'd suggest, but we haven't had another gear to step into when the game is either getting scrappy or if the opposition are able to start to dominate.

We saw glimpses under Clough in the big cup games, that we were able to regroup and then, as a team we were able to step it up - find an extra yard of pace, change things around or win the 30/70 balls when it mattered.

I have only seen us once this season, v Bristol Rovers, so i can't comment too much on what i've seen, but in that game, whilst we weren't spectacular, we were organised, physically dominant and had the likes of Harry Chapman to change things at a critical point in the game. It looked to me in that game that we had a lot more in the tank if we needed to step it up.

This for me is the key. Wilson's first season was a very dominant season and we often had games like Shrewsbury away where we would dispatch teams professionally, like last night, perhaps with a marginal lead, we could then step it up and finish games off in that next gear.

Bradford City on the weekend will be a big test of this. We can expect a fairly evenly matched game, but its whether we then have that little extra will be the key.

I’d say Bristol Rovers was one of the less impressive performances we’ve had during this run. We played 442 in that game and we tend to control games much better playing 352. Bristol had a fair bit of the ball and caused us some problems. Vale for example barely got a kick and we’ve generally dominated games v Gills, Wimbledon, Fleetwood (even though we only drew), Vale, Shrews etc. playing 352. Peterborough and Scunny are the only teams that we’ve played that way against without dominating the games and we still took 4 points from those 2.

If we can get a point or 3 on Saturday, that will be 10 games unbeaten which included trips to both of the top 2. That will be the mark of a real promotion contender. Big, big game. Win that and we’re right in there. A draw would still keep us well placed. Defeat would see a little gap open up again and mean we have to try to pick ourselves back up for MK. Really hope we can keep the unbeaten run going.

Its my only reference point for this season, so can't really comment too much, other than that its what i've read and seen in the highlights and matches on Bladesplayer. However, given the Bristol Rovers game was my first since the Adkins debacle, the difference was absolutely staggering.

It was a nervy game and one we'd have probably lost last season or at least drawn.

I think the last few weeks have shown we can outplay teams but we can also battle and grind out results when we have to, something I think we've lacked in recent times.

Any chance of some player ratings please Herb?

And for realising that Paul Coutts was not part of "the shit" despite what the vast majority of fans were saying....

Given that it prompted the "dog shit" thread on here, just imagine how good last Saturday was!

Any chance of some player ratings please Herb?

Ebanks-Landell - 7

Lafferty - 7.5

Cheers, sounds good.

Just to clarify, should I call you Herbert then or maybe just Bert or is it only Ricky on here but Herbert on Bladesmad? It's not like you've disappeared and reinvented yourself on here like some have is it?

Tell you what, I'll keep it simple and omit your handle in future.

Thanks again for the info. :)

Basham and EEl were our worst players in my opinion and how does Moore only merit a 6.5. One brilliant save held on to everything and a clean sheet. Fleck MOM for me.
