We could have had the game won by half time yesterday had our chances gone our way but being a game of two halves usually provides a leveller and so it did. Excellent finishing from Posh made their win all the more rosy and all in front of a 20,000 plus crowd to inspire the away side. Posh don't have any players better or worse than us but what they did have was the mental edge to close us down the second the ball went to a Blades shirt. Two, sometimes three players bearing down doesn't give one much time to react quickly to pass to a team mate and that was half the problem for us. They were much quicker at closing us down as in all the other games we have lost particularly at home in front of a big crowd. Add to that the fact we just don't like to tackle a player while backing off and allowing them to run at us is always going to create problems.
One thing we are brilliant at is making the opposition look good and I mean better than what they actually are. Simply allow them a 3 metre no go zone around them that can't be encroached upon. This allows teams to run into empty spaces without fear of a tackle and helps keep the possession stats up. Match the opposition in the closing down game and we're half way there. Stop running backwards and tackle to win the ball and we gain possession.
The moment we put these simple faults right the quicker we will start to control games.
