I'm only ever honest about our fans. Today our vocal support was poor. That's not the case every game. So it's an exaggeration to say I post the same things after every game.

I stand by everything I say about 'nerves'. It's a fucking embarrassing excuse not to vocally support the team. And being nervous should not be the predominant feeling for any remotely rational supporter at this stage.

Thought we were very good in the first half, some really loud chants and continuous through the half. I was sat just behind the goal near the bottom so heard from both sides of the stand. Second half we were nervous and no where near as good. Funny really as we were better second half.

Having seen it all in all 4 divisions down many years guys I have to say that I can't think back and recall anyone playing the standard of football that the Blades have achieved this season at Level 3. Having seen others hoof it and clog it out of the division and listened to the wisdom of many (both professional and amateur voices in this regard) who said it was the only way to do it I started to believe it too, especially after watching our minnows under Clough and our big-time Charlies under Adkins. Chris Wilder has changed that particular dynamic dramatically. Let Oldham fans and others suffering the same tasteless fare have their jealous snipes at us if it makes them feel more important/less meaningless. We are in dreamland..... rejoice together and laugh it all off.

Of all the fans of teams we've come up against in this division over the last few seasons Oldhams have (imo) on the whole been the thickest, most ignorant and ill informed of all. They have no idea about football.

If they did have any idea about football, they'd leave that shitty little mill town - which makes Royston Vasey look good - and watch either of the Manchester teams.

Oldham, twinned with Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.

We sat in the Oldham North stand, the opposite end from where Blades were situated. I have sat in the home end at several grounds this season, due to us selling out, and in general they have been pleasant affairs, chatting sociably about our clubs fortunes with those fans around us.
Yesterday we kept quiet! Never been sat around such bitter, anti-Yorkshire, pig loving clowns in my life.
Behind us was a beautiful lady (OK, a man-woman who spent the entire first half calling the lineswoman a F'in slag.) After our goal, they were hunting for Blades sat in their end- not sure if we were clocked or not, but thought it wise not to celebrate our goal.....
Was really hoping we would knock in the winner but in truth it never looked likely. The pitch was absolutely shocking, anybody who thinks Desso wasn't worth the investment should take a look at that pitch and the standard of football possible. Freeman went on an attacking run down the wing, knocked the ball in front of him and it bounced 3 feet up in the air.
Here's hoping we don't have to visit that Lancashire hell-hole in a long, long time.

I read this on their forum....

Sheffield United looked average because we made them look average. Their is nothing to fear in this run in

Somehow I think the pleb who posted that wouldn't be posting such things if we were at bramall lane on the desso yesterday. We'd murder them like we have most clubs this season.

The pitch is disgraceful but yes, it's the same for both sides. That's why both sides hoofed it all game. As soon as anyone tried to play it on the floor it bobbled like fuck and their next touch was a tackle! Having said it's the same for both sides Oldham obviously get more practice on it as it's their pitch and so you would expect them to be better at playing on it. I did like the special roped off area of the pitch that was clearly that bad that no-one was allowed to even walk on it before kick off. Also enjoyed the guys who had to fork the ground to get the water to drain after the sprinklers had been on. For the Oldham fans to whine that we didn't play football on that shitheap is out of order.

I was amused by the announcement of their early bird season ticket price of £250 plus VAT. That's £300 to you and me, £17 more than I'm paying to watch *fingers crossed* Championship football on a billiard table of a pitch next season. If I lived in that area I'd go anywhere else but there to watch a game because that pitch spoils any attempt at playing football. Not good enough for a professional club.

Actually have a conversation with the away fans and it's all a different story, we've chatted to all fans yesterday Rochdale, Fleetwood, and Oldham fans were good sports and genuinely wished us well, most acknowledging we shouldn't be in this division and all of them sad to see us go because we're a good source of revenue...

2 Oldham fans walked with us to the pub, wished us well with handshakes.. don't tar them all because of a few hiding behind a keyboard..

I jokingly posted on Thurs/Friday that I didn't see them using the sprinklers at half time, but they did more than that, they were on before the game started :-) I think the forking was because the sprinklers were slightly faulty, but it did look a bit daft.

At one point at the beginning of the second half, I consciously thought that they were playing more football on the floor than we were. Having said that, I never once felt we'd concede a second. Mind you, I didn't think we looked very much like scoring again either :-)

Quoting any price plus VAT for a consumer product is one for the Twat's thread in my view. When I heard the announcer say £250 I thought it sounded like a decent deal, but with £50 on top it isn't.

Cheers Panchero!

Said it before on this forum and will say it again, I am sick of driving to Oldham, Port Vale, Bury, Scunthorpe, etc., time to say goodbye to these teams, grounds, towns, once and for all. If Chris Wilder takes us out of this league at his first attempt, he will forever have my gratitude.

Where was Billy Sharp between the hours of 3 and 5 pm, funny enough I asked myself the same question.:tumbleweed:

I called in the old cock Inn just at the side of Mills Hill station before and after the game saturday and tbh the oldham fans I chatted to were quite knowledgeable and fairly pleasant fellas, they even gave my twinnys a rendition of the greasy chip butty song, after they asked my boys what we would be singing today and my boys went a tad shy...so they sung for them....decent boozer with decent people in,thanks guys.

Just been reading that. I've absolutely no idea where they've read or heard we thought we were going to batter them. Many of us said it would be hardest away game left! I presume it's just a natural symptom of inferiority. You presume what others are thinking about you because deep down it's what you yourself are thinking

What did you do when they scored?

They are second only to Millwall in terms of 'scuminess' in most respects and I have no time for them at all. A crap club from top to bottom and a great reason to be out of this division if ever there was one.
On to Tuesday.......and Millwall :-/
3 Points against the 'knuckle-draggers' and we are on our way.
UTB
Harsh surely. Think fans of most clubs are all the same. Some good some not. Can't disagree with the feedback on this occasion.

Can't understand the heated reaction on here - we were poor - we set up to play hoofball and by God did we play it ugly - Oldham had the majority of the limited possession & passing on display - I don't buy this "blame the pitch" nonsense - Oldham had 4 first teamers missing through injury and still looked the liklier winners - their no.30 bossed our defence around far too frequently - we missed Coutts & Duffy very badly and had no tactic other than to hoof it up in the air to Hanson - I just don't know why Billy was on the pitch - may as well have played Clarke with Hanson - it's the first time this season that I've been disappointed by the display and by Wilder's rose tinted radio interview - he must have decided it's "arm round the shoulder" time for the team - I'm intrigued to discover what we'll be like tomorrow night - but back to the Oldham fans - they follow a penniless little Club who battle perennially for their L1 status - they're entitled to be happy about making the Champions-elect look very ordinary and , on too many occasions for me , wide-open at the back (fortunately they didn't have a Billy to convert some of the stuff in our box).

And totally illegal when selling to consumers.

I seriously think that Oldham should be stopped from playing at Boundary Park until the pitch is sorted. We've spent a fortune on the Desso so other teams can visit BDTBL and enjoy playing on our superb surface. The state of the Oldham pitch isn't a case of 'poor little Oldham', it's fucking deliberate to reduce away teams to their shitty level. So it rained all week so the game was in doubt and what do Oldham do just before KO? Turn the sprinklers on. Fucking genius! And a clear sign of their intentions. Just as football stadia must meet certain criteria, so should pitches. Yes, it's a results business, but it's also an entertainment business. They can afford a new stand but deliberately prepare shocking pitches. The investment in our Desso looks like paying off. Oldham's obvious cheating means they'll float between Divs. 3 and 4. Fuck 'em.

I'm afraid we have had to cut short Pinchy's post due to a lack of space.

With apologies to Private Eye.
