He’s Norwich’s Athletic correspondent and has given what’s a pretty balanced assessment, delivered in a really absolutely gutted way that I probably enjoyed a bit too much.

I was expecting more of a reaction. Especially since they chatted so much shit last season and during the summer.

But what did he think about the pedestrianisation of the city centre?

I think some of those comments were written by someone who wears slippers on the street is called Douggie and wanders round Norwich shopping precinct with a Cornish pasty in his hand shouting "Get away, it's a bomb!" He's insane.

Apparently, that £10m is more than they've spent on their entire squad in fees.

Anyone know seriously why Norwich haven't spent on players?

It doesn't seem to make sense when 3 or 4 strong players would have helped cover injuries , form etc.

Are they paying off debt with the prem TV money or saving it for something special

The Norwich accounts for the year ended 30 June 2019 were shocking, showing their dire financial position. Without promotion last season they would have become insolvent.

The trading loss for the year was £33m and this reduced net assets from approx. £36m to £3m.

Don't waste time on studying the accounts (unless you have the time), page 9 and 10 tell the story.

To be honest Naarich are such a pussy club. Surprised they don’t have those clacker things.

The goal music they play after they score tells you all you need know about that lot...

Is this part of the debt they racked up around the Lambert promotion period of their history? Didn't they piss a few quid up the wall after Lambert left?

Norwich City , piggies in disguise ..............

“What makes it even more annoying is that Sheffield United are not particularly good. They don;t have better players than us they are just better drilled, dare I say it better coached and seem to have a hunger that our team has lost this season”
I swear they were saying the same things when we beat them at the lane last season

Cheers Roy, had to snigger at that bloke reporting from the stand at the end. He was that gutted he was making me depressed..... well until I saw the scoreline again 🤣

He's normally quite eloquent and clear with his match analysis but was obviously shaken in that video, he's struggling to get his words out.

Glorious stuff 😁

"Why can’t it see the ‘playacting’ like when the Sheffield keeper makes a save then rolls on the floor holding his head when there has been no contact make?"

It's what's known as playing football the Norwich way :)

As I said in 'Memries of Norwich':

A recent meeting (September 16, 2017) ended with a controversial 0-1 home defeat in front of a 26,218 crowd. Controversial because the Norwich ‘tactics’ that day comprised of barely-concealed timewasting. From their goalie missing no opportunity to delay re-starts, feign injury etc., James Maddison acting like a spoilt twat to the Canaries deliberately coming out late for the second half, Norwich proved cheats can prosper. This game also saw an increasingly-exasperated Chris Wilder attempt to boot the ball back into play. The ball had got wedged between two bags in the technical area and Chris ‘accidently’ booted the contents of these bags – drinks bottles etc. – all over the place. Typically, the referee - who had indulged the cheating by Norwich - sent Chris to the stand about three rows behind the United dug-out.

Are you sure?
They do shade it for me ,that banner with Delia on that goes round the ground before ,the walk from town before and into town after is fascinating listening to them ,and then the pubs ,everyone should visit the Woolpack just for the experience. They seem to live in a different world to any other club Ive come across. Out of the city centre Norwich is quite a shithole in places and they clap sooo loud. I know the extra finger helps but they must practice.

Couple of comments there...

“We should be beating teams like Sheffield United, Watford, Brighton, Southampton etc. It’s not good enough.”

Erm... based on what exactly? Such a delusional set of fans.

“If VAR can tell if a players toenail is off side, the accuracy is that good. So, why can’t it see when freekicks and throw ins are being taken nowhere near where the freekick was given / or the ball went out?
Why can’t it see the ‘playacting’ like when the Sheffield keeper makes a save then rolls on the floor holding his head when there has been no contact make? A yellow card if ever there was one.”

The irony of this one... McLean’s reaction got the red card out of Hooper’s pocket; when in truth the contact was minimal.
Exactly don't think there was any contact at all yet mclean first reaction was to roll around faking agonising pain

Not so very long ago they were very sure about how sustainable their business model was following a couple of years in the PL. Five years later it could well have ended in going to the wall.

That's another warning for the future because there are 12-13 clubs in the PL who are going to be relegated in the next few seasons, ourselves included. If you're not very careful these alleged riches - which end up in the hands of players - will be your downfall.

So, when Norwich supporters are whining about a lack of "investment" in here-today-gone-tomorrow players, they should also think they're a bit fortunate to have what they have right now.

As should we.

We were chatting to some of their fans in a decent old fashioned boozer ('Freemasons') before they game.

They seemed very level headed and actually expected to lose, even before the game started. They've had some bad injuries early on losing key players, but they readily accepted that their squad was too weak and they hadn't signed any quality to add to their already thin squad.

The ones we talked to, were decent and grounded and we nipped back in the boozer after ('to let the traffic die down') and they were a bit down and completely accepted they'd lost to a better team.

As Roygbiv indicates:

"There's a star man, running down the right......"

GB - my man of the match, just ahead of Hendo.

If we to be relegated before improving the ground and getting in more boxes on a upgraded south stand i'd be furious. That sort of money will help the club be stronger REGARDLESS of the Premier league money. Not to mention spending cash on the academy to improve the future of the club.

The general doom and gloom on their forum is something else. You'd of thought they'd be 11 points from safety not 8th.

Irony being there was contact as their players head clashed with Deano's.

“I’m seriously disillusioned with football.
All the playacting, the cheating and poor decisions have always frustrated me but now, with the use of technology, those in charge are making a day out at the footie a confusing, doubly frustrating and simply angry experience.”

Those 2 comments there are exactly why I cannot stand Norwich, their own players spend most of the game diving and trying to get people booked/sent off. Glad the real Sheff Utd came out second half.
